Pros: Breathable upper, traditional laces with lace garage, cloud like cushion that is still responsive, wider toe box Cons: Poor performance on technical sections due to base being wider than normal (similar to Bondi 8 style but not as pronounced) which makes it easier to twist your ankle. I had to slow down on technical sections to focus on foot placement way more than usual as the wide base kept getting in the way and catching rocks on the side. The wider toe box is welcome especially for those long haul races, but my feet did not feel secure which caused them to move around more and aided in the ankle twisting time on technicals and downhills. Couldn't get the lacing to help secure my feet Not keen on the wider base as I normally can take technical sections faster and downhills recklessly without major issue. Overall some great improvements especially with how nice the cushion feels, but also some new downfalls. I would only recommend these shoes for trails wider than 6" and for trails that have no major rooty or rocky sections as you will need all the space to place your feet with the wide base. I'd still recommend these shoes but only for long haul rail to trail or non technical trails. If you are going to go fast and have a lot of turns or any technical spots, these may not be the best.

Love this shoe. Very cushiony and bouncy. I recommend sizing 1/2 size up if you plan to run downhill in them. Other than that, perfect! I can't wait to see how they hold up mileage wise

I originally disliked them as they were super bouncy and odd to walk (think overcushioned) But as i wore them over time, They adjusted to my step and my liking. The grip is very nice and they respond well to humid conditions/ slippery ground. Overall, i am very happy with being able to try to shoes before i bought. If i could i would buy some to gift to shows others these shoes are good for those with weak knees or in need of orthopedic comfort and stability.

Very comfortable shoes, grips well on trails and my normal size was perfect for downhill, no black toenails like I have gotten with other shoes in my size.

This is my second year running in the Trabuco Max. I love this trail shoe because I can run on a mix of terrain: granite trail, rocky trail, dirt and some road. The tread provides great grip and the cushion is like running on air. Love that ASICS went back to a traditional lacing system on these shoes. The only negative for me is these are running a half size too small again. I ordered my standard size that I purchase for the Kayano and Trabuco (not Max), ran in them once and felt my toes hit the front of the shoe the entire time. Order a half size larger and they fit well. It's almost like these are actually a fourth size too small. ASICS- please fix the sizing issue on these shoes as they are perfect otherwise!

Trabaco Max shoes have been my go-to for hitting the trails. The grip and durability are fantastic, providing excellent traction on various terrains. However, the one downside for me is the weight they feel a bit heavy on my feet. Despite that, the overall performance on the trails makes them a solid choice for outdoor adventures.

these are some crazy shoes, I using them reluctantly, they remind me of clown shoes, they are just okay. I don't like the propelling rocker technology
