I posted a mostly positive review for these earlier, but I can't figure out how to update reviews, so I'm just posting this as an update: I wound up returning these a few days after I posted that review because the insides of the sneakers felt like they collapsed inward a bit, which made them feel smaller than they were fresh out of the box. Overall, I'm reducing my original review by one star in the "Overall" and "Comfort" categories, but keeping it at five stars for the "Style" category. I just wanted to give a heads up to anyone out there, especially if you're on the heavier side, these may not work for you. I have a stocky build and weigh around 220lbs, so it could be that they're just better for folks under my weight, but I'm not sure. I hope this helps whomever reads it!

I'm quite impressed with these for the price! They are true to size in length and width, and they have moderate arch support. They fit like gloves and lock onto your ankle (in a good way), giving you confidence that you can actually use them for hiking without worry of rolling your ankle. The lugs are deep and sturdy, and the sole is hard...which is both good and bad. The sole being hard makes it so that your feet are more protected from things like rocks, sticks, and uneven terrain, but the hardness kind of makes your feet sore after a while. I think it's made worse by the somewhat thin ortholite insole, so I'd recommend stacking another thin, foam insole on top of the factory one. That's the other negative: the factory insole is thin and not so cushy, but since it's glued on, you can't remove it. Overall, it's a great pair of yard work or hiking sneakers, but you will need an additional insole for maximal comfort. For the price, I recommend them, but I removed one star due to the hard outsole and glued in insole.

Size 13 too small, Need 14. Otherwise, shoe was excellent. Don't believe it is available in 14 ?

Always nervous buying shoes on-line as sizes tend to vary - these are right on point. True size, width and super comfortable!

Perfect fit

I had been looking for something between trail shoes and hiking boots for awhile. These are exactly what I was looking for. Comfortable and light like running shoes, but with nice ankle support like boots. Haven't taken them through water yet, but experience with regular GEL-Ventures leads me to believe they will have a nice amount of water resistance. The ride is a little stiff, but that is appropriate for a trail shoe. Looks pretty good, not your standard khaki/tan you find in boots but not obnoxious either.
