Happy and relieved that this second iteration is in fact better than the first, as I liked the original a lot. Great combination of light weight, good cushion, and great traction on trails.

I bought these after searching for a comfortable and supportive golf shoe for my aging feet- these are fabulous! Good traction on the turf, and very comfortable. I walk 18 holes twice a week and my feet now feel no discomfort after the round.

Then get the tectonX2. I rain a pretty muddy Spartan today. Just a 5K. I will tell ya my fastest time. Most impressed by the light weight, comfort and drain ability. Super impressive.

Love the shoes. The best tennis shoes I've ever owned. I struggle with the colors offered, but I'm a 53 man so what do I know.

This is the best trail running shoe from Hoka that I've run in. It has perfect cushioning great traction and responsive propulsion. I have owned every version of the speed goat including the Evo speed goat, which in my opinion, was the best trail running shoe Hoka ever made. The Tecton X2 has taken that top number one spot for me in trail running shoes. Perfect for climbing/ down hills and forward Propulsion.. I passed on version one. But this version X2 is different. Great traction on technical Granite downhills, and forest wet roots and fire roads with loose rock.. In my opinion it is almost a overall perfect balance. If there was anything to knit pick It would possibly be a little more lug depth. But I'm not a 100% sure about that. As this is a perfect trail shoe for many different scenarios.. It almost feels like a mock 5 in a trill running shoe version, but with carbon plates.. Overall, I give it 5 stars if I could give it 6... I would at this point.. Nice job, Hoka

I have the first Tecons and love them except I could not get a good lockdown. This revision addressed that and more. First, please account for inserts when designing these shoes. These X2's are wonderful and very stable and fast. They are now my fav trail shoes. My previous fav were the Evo Speedgoats. I also like the Mafate speed.

Still working through the initial break-in miles, but so far they have been extremely comfortable, with great traction and stability.

I use clifton for my day to day use and for long walks in neighborhood. I use Speedgoat for long hikes in nature. I use Tecton trail running. All three shoes are great.

If you want to run fast and stay fresh for a long time, buy this shoe. It only took 3ish miles into my first run in these shoes for them to form to my feet and feel like a (bouncier, more responsive) extension of myself.

I love this shoe. Let me just say, this shoe has everything. It has great stability and is a super fast shoe. I also own the Vectic Pro from North Face. This shoe is lighter and has way better stability on uneven surfaces. Hoka knocked this shoe out of the park.

These are my favorite trail running shoes out there. I've been trying many different ones in the market, but this one feels like you're running on the clouds.

These are my absolute favorite shoes for fast efforts on terrain ranging from fire roads to single track to mildly (mildly!) technical trails. They've propelled me to PRs on every segment that falls within the right range of terrain and grade. They're great on all uphill segments, and good on everything but the steepest downhills. I am generally a size 10 or 10.5 depending on the company. More often, a 10 is a good fit. For these shoes, 10.5 was the right choice! It's an absolutely perfect fit, with a little bit of room in the forefoot but a secure lockdown in the midfoot and heel. So if you're between sizes, size up! They're incredible shoes for running fast on buffed trails, and an absolute blast to run in. But a word of warning if you are taking these shoes out on more technical terrain - the propulsion that the carbon plates offers also makes these shoes a little bit dangerous to run in if you aren't laser-focused. It's very possible to step incorrectly on a rock or root, get flung to the side, and sprain an ankle. If you are going to take these out on more technical, rocky ground, stay focused on your every footfall! Or, better yet, save these for the terrain they're best at, and grab some more appropriate shoes for real mountain running.

What's up with the rolling ankles??? I have about 40ish miles in them and already rolled my ankle like 7 times. Don't get me wrong I love the fit feet feel amazing just can't understand the rolling ankle situation. Sizing is little under if you ask me (small) width also feels a little narrow HOWEVER it's perfect for me I have a small width foot anyhow.

Best running shoe I have ever had. Light and plenty of cushion. My only complaint is the inside of the shoe around the ankle is completely tearing up! This should not happen for the amount of money this shoe is. I wish I could attach pictures so all can see how bad it is. This issue started within 50 miles, too!

I give this shoe a 3 star for longer distance, technical trails. 5 stars for shorter distance, moderate trail condition runs. I used them for a 50+ mile trail race in Prescott Az and the heel collar and heel tab tortured my ankles. I adjusted my lacing, thinking I had my laces too tight but it was at my usual firmness for distances of over 50+ mile trail races. It felt like the heel collar and heel tab padding were bigger on these.

Incredible shoe. My only complaint, as with most shoes is i need a wider toe box. These just barely work for me. Hokas wide shoes have a HUGE wide heel that dont work for me. Just make a shoe shaped like a healthy foot.

I do love these shoes! However the inside lining wears out much faster than any other shoes I have owned. For the money cost Hoka as a company can improve in this area. It's not only the heal area it's the inside top edge around your ankles.
