Had these for four months. About half of the lugs are peeling off. The same thing happened with my ATR 6's. I attempted to return them for a warranty exchange, but Hola claimed that they have never received them. Decided to give the 7's another try. Big mistake. The quality is poor. Or they are just not designed for hiking off pavement. Never buying another Hoka shoes again.

2nd pair of Hokas. First were great. This pair started failing at the heels within a few months. They're now completely busted and going in the bin. Clearly a fault, innovation at the cost of durability. Their customer service blamed it on how I was wear the shoe, although couldn't say why the first pair was fine. Gonna have to find a new brand now.

If bought a lot of HOKAS but these ran very small. The width was very narrow, and the size was off. There's a strap on both sides near the entry of the shoe that gets in the way of putting them on. I laced them up loose, but it was a no go. I wear an 11-1/2 and had to send them back. Felt like a 10-1/2 or an 11.

I don't understand why shoe manufacturers change a good shoe. When they produce a super good shoe they can't seem to understand that it will need to stay the same. I really like the Challenger 6. It feels good, performs good and has added rubber along the front for more protection. Now the new challenger does not have the same durable rubber for a so called trail runner. I am sorry, but that is just so wrong. Next time you come up with a good shoe keep it the same.

The shoes are of poor quality. Within 4 months of purchase, the pair of shoes are torn. A sign of poor quality uppers for Challenger ATR 7.

I've been using the Challenger 6 for quite some time and love it, but I was pretty disappointed by the new model. The 7's are much more plush and don't have nearly as firm and stable of a ride. The uppers are also very light and lack the same kind of structure that the 6's had, so your feet may end up sliding laterally (or too far fore/aft) when your feet strike. I'm also not a fan at all of the heel, which guides the foot into a completely different kind of position when it hits the ground--a heel strike, rather than a midsole strike. It seems like Hoka decided to make the 6's less stable, less structured, softer, and way more like the Cliftons. That's not why the Challengers were good. Misses the point!

I wanted to love these because they are my school colors. I wear a 10.5 wide in women. I bought the men’s 9 then exchanged for the 9.5. NO GO. The toe box was still too narrow! I hate that the WIDE Hokas sell out so fast… men and women. I sent them back. Zappos is an amazing company to work with. PLEASE MAKE MORE WIDE SHOES SO THEY DON’T SELL OUT SO FAST!!! Sincerely, a Hoka lover.

Hate how The heel drops off abruptly mid-heel no support behind and rocks back steeply, and since you’re high up it locks the knee upper and lower muscles. No way! I Wore them around the house two minutes and thought they might injure me. Returning to Speedgoats. Speedgoater 4 Lif.

After just a week of running in this shoe, there were multiple places on the tread where it had already started peeling off of the shoe. Not to mention that 2 entire chunks of rubber sole and tread had already broken off. Don't know if this was a defect of this certain pair of shoes or not. Returned and now waiting on the next pair to come in.

Overall good quality shoe but doesn't work for me. Shoe still feels a little narrow on my toes even though I ordered a wide. Furthermore however the shoe is formed causes me terrible lateral knee pain to the point where I have to stop running. I've never had that issue before and thought that they would break in eventually but they did not.

I've heard many good things about these shoes so I had to try them. I ordered them a little big and wide and the toe box is still way too small. They rub against both sides of my feet so I will be returning them again.

The shoe is narrow and it kinda bothers you big toe. The sole is soft and comfortable as expected.

I have been a loyal buyer of the Hoka Challenger for many years. I've had nearly 15 pairs of the Challenger from the ATR 3 through the ATR 6. For reasons I don't understand they decided to redesign the ATR 7 with a soft, slipper-like upper that lacks the robust quality and trail durability of previous models. The same size I have purchased for years no longer fits my foot, and once I did find the right size it's painful when tied as the upper is a thin, low-quality material that has no business being used on trail. I am devastated as the Challenger ATR has been my daily driver running shoe for the better part of a decade, and I can no longer wear it now. HOKA, PLEASE GO BACK TO THE ATR 6 DESIGN. THIS SHOE IS GARBAGE.

I am on my feet all day at work, the last pair of Hokas were great. I purchased the Challengers thinking they would be as good as my last pair. They are not. I feel like something is stabbing me from inside the shoe. Right behind my toes in both shoes.

This was my 5th or 6th pair of Challengers, which I used primarily for my weekday trail runs. Even though the lugs were not aggressive they felt good enough on the technical bits of trail and the paved path I took to get there. I was excited to try to lighter weight update, and the updated upper on this iteration drained any positive feelings I had for the shoe - my foot felt way too compressed and I had to leave the laces very loose, which caused me to tip as I ran over trail. I hate this update so much I'll probably never try this again. Returned it after two frustrating runs

The Challenger 7 is one of my favorite Hoka shoes. I have been purchasing them for 10+ years and they beat the feet off of Nike's!! I work in healthcare and one day they had a scrub sale. They had a few Hoka choices so I said, "why not try them?" TI WAS WELL WORTH IT AND I WAS SOOOOOLD!! They add comfort and cush no other shoe does, THEY LAST and are well made AND they look great with the numerous styles and colors. I noticed after I purchased my 1st pair, other staff at the hospital started wearing them. I was asked several times how I liked them, several fellow emploees said how nice they looked and all of a sudden they started selling out at the scrub sales! It made me feel like a trendsetter and now most of the staff wear them. BTW, my daughter is a Nke Design Exec. and she still likes me, it's kind of a joke and I noticed Nike has started a design that looks very similar to the Hokas, just sayin!

The most comfortable shoes I've worn in the last 5 years. Bought a second pair before the 1st wore out, knowing that shoe companies rarely stick with a particular shoe design. They always make changes thinking they have to to keep customers happy. And that's what happened. The new version of the shoe comes in crummy colors and gets bad reviews.
