The shoes are more complicated to latch and unlatch than I anticipated as their functionality is not apparent on the website. When my shoes arrived, there was also 1.5 in scratch-like discoloration in the finish of the leather.

Fast and efficient shipping10D fits exactly as advertised.very stylish and much more comfortable than I expected. I walked around in them all day and experienced no foot fatigue. The only thing keeping me from rating it 5 stars is a slight blemish in the leather on both shoes. Overall, a very good product at a reasonable price..

At this point, I've only worn the shoe about 5 times. I bought this same exact shoe a few years ago (along with black Cole Haan Modern Classics purchased on the same day) because of the blue/soft foam insoles. The double monk quickly became my favorite pair of dress shoes ever. The foam insoles and soft leather were so comfortable I could wear them on 12-hour days, while traveling, at conferences, church, etc. and my feet would always feel fine at the end of the day. I literally walked heel holes in the foam insoles of both shoes and both hills are severely worn down; I also walked the original color away as they are now a discolored light brown due to normal wear and tear. Although I've had them professionally cleaned and polished, they've lost their original glory, but again that is due to normal wear and tear, not a defect in the shoe. So, I needed a new pair. I decided to buy the same exact shoe because of the great experience I had with my previous faithful's and I figured my feet would thank me at some point. When they arrived and I opened the box, I noticed immediate changes. 1) The buckles are thinner, and the buckle color is different, but it still looks nice. No biggie. 2) The previous outsoles were pretty much all rubber which made for a softer walk and a quieter sound when walking. The new ones have a type of rubber and leather mixed outsole, which looks nice, but it gives a much harder walk and, depending on the surface, a louder sound when walking. With the original pair I felt I was 'one with the shoe' and outsole and no one could hear me coming, but with these, I feel like I actually have shoes on, and I am standing 'on' the outsole, and sometimes people can hear me coming depending on the surface. This example may not make sense to some, but if you've ever had a pair of extremely comfortable dress shoes then I think/hope you know what I mean. The rubber outsole seemed to conform to my foot and walk more and provided a smoother walk, whereas with the new mixed outsole my foot has to conform more to the firmer outsole material. 3) The leather is a bit harder and thinner. When I originally bought them years ago the leather was very soft and much thicker which is probably why they were so comfortable and lasted about 5 years - again at this point the leather is still intact and soft, and I have no problems with the old leather beyond discoloration after hundreds of wears and miles walked, which is normal. The material difference on the new pair is noticeable as I feel the shoe crease when I walk; the old pair creased but due to the soft leather I did not feel it. After a few hours of wear, the crease from the harder leather begins to press into my 'pinky' toe causing a bit of pain if I have to walk or stand longer that day; I have never experienced this with the previous pair (and I bought the exact same size), maybe b/c the leather was so soft? Before switching to Cole Haan's years ago, I tried several different brands and none were as comfortable, durable, affordable, and aesthetically pleasing. Since buying the double monks and Classics years ago I've only seriously considered Cole Haan's since and have convinced others to buy them. I usually don't leave reviews, but I respect the style, quality, and affordability of the brand not to say anything, plus they sent me an after-purchase survey, so they kinda asked for it, ha! (I was contemplating rebuying these in brown and black or trying 2 pair of Johnston and Murphy double monk's and now I'm rethinking my choice.) Overall, this double monk is still a very beautiful shoe with comfortable insoles and can be dressed down w/ jeans and a t-shirt or dressed up with a 3-piece suit - you can't go wrong either way. As a person who has owned the exact shoe before, and it was their favorite dress shoe, it was easy for me to see and feel the differences right away. If this is your first-time buying Cole Haan or double monk's, most of what I said is probably irrelevant since you never experienced the comfort of the ones I had, ha! Or, you may not plan on wearing the shoe for more than 2 hours at a time and may not have to walk a lot when you have them on. If so, you will be fine, get them, but that's not me. I pretty much wear dress shoes on average 4 days a week, so I buy dress shoes that I can wear for 4+ hours at a time and walk in on campuses, city blocks, or wherever life takes me that week, which is part of the context I evaluate comfort and quality of shoes in. I think the Harrison is a great shoe, very beautiful, with comfortable insoles, and worth the price; you have to figure out the comfort of the outsole yourself :) I understand things change so I don't expect every single thing to be the way it was when I first purchased the shoe 5 years ago, but based on the strength of the Cole Haan brand, I did expect the comfort level to at least be the same (hopefully improve), but it wasn't. None of the stores near me carry the double monk so I couldn't handle them to notice the differences before I purchased, maybe I would have gotten the Washington's, Grand Laser Monks, or another style Cole Haan - the comfort of the Grand 360 insole is hard to beat. Glad I waited before buying the black Harrisons. (The star system seemed insufficient for my level of detail and nuance, so I gave a 3 which I perceived to be neutral and since I had to choose one. Hopefully you rely more on my words concerning the shoe/brand than some stars.) Thanks for reading. Thanks Cole Haan.

Nice looking shoes but not comfy. The shoes are nice and stylish but there is not enough heel fabric to cover and left me with blisters on my feet and toes. I purchased a half size larger anticipating some narrowness but still ended up cramping my toes.

I've owned many causal Cole Haans but this was the first pair of dress shoes. I'd say they don't stand up to the comfort of other zero grands. I still stand behind the Cole Haan and their products, but found that value for money, these would be lowest on the 5+ pairs own

Ordered online based on prior sizing in store. Unfortunately quality control was not the best--you could see un-dyed leather along the edges of overlapping sections of the show, such as along the cap toe and, and one shoe had a small nick. They didn't quite have as nice a shape as you'd imagine--more of a fishbowl look than a fitted shoe with a nice line from toe box to heel. I'd search elsewhere next time

Cole Haan is my go-to for dress shoes. I have purchased many pairs over the years, I know my size exactly. I bought a pair of monk strap dress shoes about 5 years ago and I adore them. However, they are getting worn out so I was hoping to replace them. I purchased the Harrison Monk Strap after seeing them online. Sadly, I was beyond disappointed when they arrived. What's going on Cole Haan? The quality was dismal. The shoes looked fine at first glance. However, the color was off and the leather itself was thin and seemed cheap. The shoes cost too much for what I received. I don't know if Cole Haan is trying to cut corners, but please don't. You're known for quality shoes - please stay true to that tradition

CH quality is not what it used to be; I had studied the photos online and read the reviews but when they arrived I wasn't impressed with the shiny rubbery leather and sole. Just didn't look premium to me especially for the price. My CH shoes from the past are much better constructed and the qaulity of the leather and design is much better
