Its a wonderful trail shoe. Light. stable, cushioned. Why did they discontinue it?

Very nice running shoe for winter weather. Roomy toe box and waterproof too.

These shoes have been great so far. I've gone on several 10 mile trail runs in damp, slushy, and snowy conditions, and they have kept my feet warm and dry, and provided ample traction. I also used them for a 10 mile trail race and was very happy with the comfort and speed. These will be my go-to trail running shoes for the winter, and I will be eyeing the regular version when spring rolls around.

Warm and very water resistant. Light and not bulky. Faster shoe ; best when feel like I am up on the forefoot. Better on soft ground but has a rock plate to protect from anything sharp and enough cushion to handle at least a few miles on hard surfaces if needed. I think firmness makes the shoe slightly more slippery on wet roots and rocks than I expected. Overall a great shoe for wet cold trails.

Outsole seems good but maybe firmness of sole makes the shoe maybe more slippery on wet roots and rocks than I expected. otherwise great shoe for wet cold trails.

Water resistant material minimizes wetness when stepping in slush or puddles.. insulation makes the shoe slightly warmer but not hot. Fine or powdery snow will build up and melt on top of the toe box.Wearing longer than two hours generally results in a wet foot, either from sweat or snow melt. Shoe takes a long time to air dry. I have just over 200 winter trail miles on the shoe and it is showing excessive wear. Wave logos have fallen off. Some sort of thin rubbery plastic wraps around the heal is peeling off.

Go these to take the brunt of my long runs (>3hrs) and they certainly deliver. However, these shoes had an incredibly long break-in period. It took me about 40 miles of jogging before they felt like they finally broke. The runshield upper is a great thing if you are really getting after it and don't want to lose pace through shallow stream crossings. They are also still "fast" enough to be a solid ultra race shoe. Certainly comfortable out to 55k. I do wish the lugs were a slightly softer compound though. They do not have the traction on boulders like the peregrine do. That is about the real downside.
