I wear this for my base layer when hiking, with a turtle neck over it. It is light weight, and not a tight fit like some compression shirts. Allows excellent freedom of movement while keeping me totally dry due to its wicking of moisture. Highly Recommend for temperatures of 30 to 60 degrees. for lower temperatures I use turtleneck bases.

I got one of these last year and when I saw it on sale this year jumped at the chance to get another. Light weight but snug and warm. Fits me nicely, but might be too snug for someone larger who otherwise usually gets a large.

Very comfortable. Great for hiking base layer in winter. Wicks sweat. Keeps me at an ideal temp. Perfect shirt for fall or spring.

Wore this base layer shirt during outdoor hikes in Iceland's Circle of Fire area. Unusual snow storms hit Iceland while traveling yet I never felt chilled. A very worthwhile product.

Through the years, I have spent a lot of wasted $$ on other brand names for this similar product that I was dis-satisfied with for a higher price. L.L.Bean has the best design for this mid-weight Crew made with quality material, comfort, and fit. I only wish I had tried this L.L.Bean product years ago for my AZ cooler days/nights used as a base layer for sleeping, day hiking, and night/early morning camping trips.

I primarily wear base layers when I am Nordic skiing. These poly layers are soft and comfortable and stretch with me. The midweight is perfect to couple with various LL Bean tops to keep me warm and wick moisture.

Just like the 1/4 zip this midweight base layer is one of my favorites for winter time wear. Great by itself for around the house or for layering while hunting or just being outside.

Great skivvies. I love 'em. I got regular so the sleeves won't extend past my shirt sleeves. Perfect fit, very comfortable. Just ordered another pair.

Older thermal base layers were tight and scratchy. This one fits well, is comfortable, and keeps me comfortably warm during 0-30 degree snow clearing.

Given as a gift to my stepson who is a nurse in trauma icu. Conditions are kept cool to thwart infections. Under scrubs fits well w/no bulk. Temperature control keeps him from getting too warm/hot. He also use it for runs and same results from above are experienced.

This truly is a perfect piece. It's lightweight, but warm. Thin but perfect for under clothes. I wore on winter day with nothing else except a winter coat and was perfectly warm for activity (show shoveling). Th thumb holes are a nice bonus.

I have bought both the lite weight and now the medium weight - first bought the lite weight as a base and wound up using as a gym shirt and when the cooler weather came I tried the medium weight and also use for the gym - who would have thought, L.L.Bean in the gym. The fit is comfortably snug and they look great. The shirts hold there fit - no shrinkage and fit extremely well even after many wears.

I own several different brands of base layers, and I like LL Beans the best. I wish they had more colors to choose from though.

This is the best base layer shirt I own!!! I cycle in Boston, year round. This shirt was purchased, one day, when I was cycling without proper layering. Now I wear it every time the temps drop to or below the low 30s. The shirt is the best when I combine it with an all cotton long sleeved tee, on top of it; my Pearl Izumi cycling (shirt sleeve) shirt; my L. L. Bean 100% wool base shirt (long sleeve zipper turtleneck); my Fox cycling jacket; and my L. L. Bean Tek 2 wind proof and water resistant jacket. I walk or cycle with this layering system while working outdoors for 3 - 6 hours, 5 days a week!!! So, I highly recommend this shirt!

Great base layer for a winter hike. Just a fleece and shell jacket was warm enough.

Item works great in layers to keep warm and dry. Am a hockey grandparent and those rinks can be cold for spectators. Headed to Lacrosse next and am sure this early season will be cold as well!

I had a lighter base layer for several years and wanted to move up a notch. The midweight base layer is comfortable and very efficient/ I spent an entire day outside for a scout event and was warm the entire time.

I gave this as a gift to my husband. He loved the midweight and feel. He has used it to walk in mid Pennsylvania weather and loves it. I didn't realize that the longer sleeves had a loop to let thumb through and keeps the sleep fro rolling up. My husband really likes this feature

Purchased specifically for working outdoors. It is allowed to be worn under the navy working uniform. Medium weight is perfect thickness for when the temps are in the 30-40s. Washes well, no pilling or static.
