This is extremely rough and scratchy. The inner cotton layer is not soft like Duofold of yesteryears.

I bought 2 of these shirts on 9/22/22. Each was worn and washed once.and dried by hanging by the hem so as not to stretch the neck by drying on a hanger. The neck looks like a ladies boat neck sweater!! My husband has had 6 merino wool shirts of this style for 5 yrs..washed each week in the cool weather and they are still in VERY good shape. It is worth the money to buy the wool. They last and retain shape. I even dry them in the dryer!!

The dimensions of this garment are weird. The neck hole is too large, the sleeves are too short and the length is too great for the size medium I ordered. Furthermore the trim on the neck hole is irritating. Consequently, I won't wear this base layer. I should have returned it when I had the opportunity.

The cotton did not help and there is no way this is merino wool (does not state it anywhere only written on the web-sight here ), My arms and neck both started to itch and get a little red like a allergic reaction . Wool does this to me , Merino wool which is softer usually does not . The upper shoulders are made for linebackers and the wrists are very tight and uncomfortable (and i'm all bones) (not sure who possibly has this type of body ). I'm shocked this is Made IN Canada . I think it's a mistake and it's really China . It's not stated anywhere on who actually makes this . If this is really from Canada they must be using inferior wool .

The quality seems to be very good, consistent with all Bean products. Although the product fits perfectly, the neck opening is way too big, leaving much of the shoulders and chest exposed. I even laundered it twice, in the hope that it would perhaps shrink the neck opening to a normal size, but with no luck.

I have owned several pairs of the shirt and pants over the years, however they are no longer a Duofold product.
The tags are annoying and the fabric that contacts the skin is irritating.
The new set has been donated to Goodwill and replaced with a Duofold product.
I am still a fan of LL. Bean products, just not this one.
