Gave some LL Bean shirts a try, they are quality, but the fit is not flattering for a slimmer athletic build.

I ordered this without realizing the return policy makes you pay to return anything - since I don't have an LL Bean anywhere near wouldn't want to go into a mall right now during a pandemic, I thought online ordering would make sense! Unfortunately I received this T-shirt and found it to be incredible boxy. I usually wear a medium, and I'm at the top of the normal BMI for my height - this shirt still managed to be so wide that it looked ridiculous. Thinking it would be no problem to return and order something else, I find out it costs 30% of the cost of the shirt just to return it. Thanks LL Bean!

Love LL Bean products generally, but the material on these T's is too thick and feels slimy and synthetic. Way to heavy for a hot climate or a warm day (which is kind of the point of a plain T, I thought). I went running and played tennis in these T's in northern WI on a 70 degree day and they turned into wet sponges and feel like spun plastic on your body. I ordered two and they are both going to Goodwill. Also, the neck line is not cut right in the front, feels like you are being choked by the collar. Avoid. Other Bean products I received in this order were highly satisfactory. Material on these Ts is inferior.

I have two of these and have tried them out for the past month, washing (without fabric softener) several times. In the present hot and humid weather they are unbearable. The fabric doesn't breath at all. perspiration sticks to the inside of the shirt and drips down my skin. The shirt does not absorb any moisture. I thought this was my imagination at first but I layed the shirt out on a table and poured some water on it and the water just beaded. Wearing this shirt is like wearing a piece of plastic, although it is very soft.

The shirt fits tight in the shoulder width. From arm pit to arm extremely tight. The sleeves are short. The waist is extremely large. A person who is 70 lbs. over weight would fit okay but it still wouldn't fit his shoulders. Length is only thing that comes close to the description of Large.

I've bought these shirts before and they were not this wide! I guess I have to move to another t-shirt fit because this thing fit me like a dress and then shrank after one wash. Guess they should stick to boots.

I bought 3 of these tees for my husband... After one wash the collars completely lost their shape and body of shirt became misshapen on 2 of the 3. This is NOT the quality we have come to expect from LLBean's, and we've been customers for decades. The local discounters have better quality and more than half the cost! You can do better!!!

I still wear some of these shirts I bought for a ski trip in 1984! The fabric keeps getting thinner but the unshrinkable tee never shrinks, keeps it's shape, collars lay flat and soooo soft even after 36 years! I just bought 6 more shirts and could not wear them. I cannot wear a synthetic shirt, I sweat bullets; I cannot wear these shirts, they feel like synthetic and I sweat bullets. I am going to wash them for a third time to see if the "sizing" or whatever the chemical they use makes them wearable(I hope), is still in the shirt; then they go back and I will really write a sizzling review. I live in these shirts almost everyday, I would hate to see them go.

This product faded so bad after one wash. Very disappointed especially since they were not supposed to fade.

While visiting Maine last summer we purchased this unshrinkable T-shirt in four in different colors. The neckline on these tees started to stretch out just after the second wash! They look terrible! Very disappointed. The color is good but with the neckline the way it is I cannot wear them. I tried to use them to work in the yard but they do not absorb any moisture so they are not good to wear for that chore in Florida. For the amount I paid for these T-shirts I expected especially a product with the L.L. Bean name to be better quality but since they have sent most of their business to China this is what has happened. We will never go back nor order anything online again!

There is something about the fabric that makes it NOT absorb sweat. It's 100% cotton, but what is it that makes sweat sit on the surface, then is uncomfortable against the skin? My son pulled off his shirt and turned it wrong side out. I ran my hand across his back and it came back beaded with moisture, but the shirt itself was not damp. He said he gets cold from having water sit on his skin. The shirts look great, but you don't want to sweat in them.

The neck band on these T-shirts has been changed. After repeated washings, the neck bands develop a wavy look like a piece of bacon. I think I have worn my newer shirts 10-15 times and they already have this look. I wash on cold and dry on wrinkle control set at warm temperature. I know that high temperatures can destroy the elastic in clothes. My old LL Bean T-shirts didn't have this problem and I washed them the same way. So LL Bean has changed the material used in the neck bands. This isn't the type of problem one should have with a $25 T-shirt.
Sadly, this is otherwise a very nice looking T-shirt. I like the fabric. It is a little heavier than cheap T-shirts and the fabric, unlike the neck band, holds up to repeated washings. I won't buy any more of these, but will retest the water in a year or so hoping LL Bean fixes this problem.

This is a changed product, the material is not as soft and smooth as the old t-shirts. I am not even sure if it is cotton. I hope LLBEAN will go back to their old manufacturer. I certainly won't be buying any of these any more.

The fit on this tee is terrible, and as a menswear professional with 40 years experience I can tell you EXACTLY why! The front neck is 3/4" to 1" too high, the back neck is too deep and the shoulder slope is practically non-existent. On top of that, the neck rib is wavy and looks stretched out. I sure wish I'd kept the receipt, but I never imagined that an LL Bean tee would be so bad.

It's NOT unshrinkable! The tee fit to my size as delivered but 1 wash & dry (following laundry instructions) caused it to shrink almost 1 size. Very disappointing especially considering the cost and the unshrinkable claim. Never bought a tee that shrank this much!

I've purchased six in different colors. The neckline on these tees stretched out just after the one year guarantee. They look awful. Very disappointed. The color and shape of the rest of tee is good.

The Neckline is the problem. The neckline is so wide it looks like a mock turtle neck. Customer service claim that the necklines are of an inch wide. I have had some of these shirts come in with to over 1-inch wide necklines. This is why there are numerous complaints about the necklines rolling over and being too tight. Not all of the t-shirts come this way. The t-shirt fits correctly when the neck line is no more than 1/2 inch wide. These t-shirts are the best t-shirts on the market when the necklines are 1/2 inch or less.

Been a happy Bean's customer for over 50 years, but what a miss on this product. As other reviewers have said, wish I had read the actual reviews before I purchased 3 tee shirts last spring. If you work in these shirts or engage in any outside activities, even on cool days, you end up wet and clammy because they don't breath at all and don't wick moisture like all other cotton t shirts. Have washed numerous times hoping that whatever the material is coated with will dissipate. No such luck. Might be a good shirt if you just sit on the couch all day but not for what LL Bean tries to promote, which is to get outside and be active.
What I don't understand is that many, many similar complaints have been registered now going back over three years with no fix. Not the usual dependable Bean's product.

Worst T-Shirt I ever wore. When I found a heather grey 100% cotton t-shirt online at LL Bean to wear under my polo uniform shirt (if you have ever looked for a grey 100% cotton tshirt you know they're hard to find!) I ran right to the nearest LL Bean store and bought 4 of them. The first day wearing one this summer was also the last day I ever wore it. Non breathable and absolutely 100% non-absorbent!! I wish I'd saved the picture I took of a small cup of water I poured onto the shirt, went to work, came back 8-10 hours later and it was still a puddle! I have 90-10 cotton blend shirts that absorb more moisture. After months of saving them to bring back and a recent move I finally just put them where they belong: the garbage. I couldn't bring myself to even donate them and put some poor soul through the discomfort of wearing the equivalent of a plastic bag. Whatever you do to make these shirts so awful please stop or just stop selling them!! How does anyone rate these shirts anything above 1 Star??? I'd give zero but I can't...

I ordered a medium and even though I received a medium, it fits like an extra large. Had to return.

I have worn LL Bean unshrinkable tees for twenty years. This year, my size small tees are two inches wider throughout the body and two inches larger at the sleeve hole and sleeve hem. Why did they change this previously reliable garment? I will return mine, and, as Bean does not sell size extra small, must look elsewhere for teeshirts. Bummer!

After a few washes, the elastic in the collars of these shirts (and the long sleeve versions) stretches significantly. For $20 a shirt, it's pretty crazy to have a problem like this. I have plenty of other cotton t shirts that cost a fraction of this one that have no such issues after years of use.
