5-inch inseam just looked frumpy and long on me.

These are very comfortable shorts, good for being in the water for sports if you tend to do activities around the water but not necessarily swimming, which was what I bought these for. I can't say that they are particularly flattering; the drape isn't great and the shorts are actually looser than I would have chosen, but I'm keeping them and expect to get good wear out of them.

As always LL Bean delivers a well made garment but these run large, too long, and are just shapeless. I was disappointed and returned them.

I love the fit and comfort of these shorts, but after several uses, the color has faded to the point that it barely resembles the original. (Same is true of the matching tankini top.) Disappointing. They're also definitely not quick to dry.

I bought these a month ago for water aerobics. Good quality. But they are so large! I probably should have send them back

I love the product; however, it has a terrible odor to it. I have washed it 4 times with baking soda and All Odor Relief and cannot get rid of the smell.

I really would have loved these shorts but they started off a little big. I normally wear a women's large but these parachuted around my legs and seemed to stretch when in the water. I would 100% recommend these but make sure to size down!

I like wearing a bit more coverage in a bathing suit as I don't have the body to pull off a bathing suit graciously. These shorts are good as far as they go into the water nice. It's getting out that is the issue. It's so much material that they hang and sag. I literally am wringing out the water from them. Just think there could be a better solution. I'm saying "no" to recommending to a friend, however, if need be they can serve the purpose in a pinch.

I originally ordered these shorts in large and they were too big, so I reordered in the medium size. The panty under the shorts fit fine but there was way too much fabric in the shorts so I ended up returning these as well. If they are made with less fabric in the shorts area for next season I'd gladly buy them again, but they were just too baggy....

I was looking for something to cover my upper legs, and I bought these. The other swim skirts were either too short or too long with an odd style. These shorts don't dry!! I washed them, turned them inside out, and hung them on an upright drying rack in 85F degree weather, and 24 hours later, they are still wet! Why would anyone want this? I don't want to sit on the beach all day in a soaking wet suit, and I want a dry bathing suit to wear the next day on vacation. These are also heavy when wet and don't pull down easily. The waistband is too heavy too.

It is very heavy when wet. Also it's difficult to remove when wet to go to the bathroom and then put it it back on.

Too small. I ordered 1X from the catalog, but the representative on the phone said the shorts did not come in 1X and did I want size 18. I don't know why I didn't just cancel them instead of saying "Yes" to size 18.

I gave this "short" the low rating because despite the fact that it is well made and I have no problem with the quality, I depended on the catalog picture and description in making my decision to order. I found it very unflattering. It would be more realistically described as a split skirt. I wasn't looking for a tight fitting bike short, but neither was I looking for such a "baggy leg". I have returned them

I loved the shorts until. I purchased these shorts in February(it is now March 3rd) for a water aerobics class that I attend twice a week. The description says they are chlorine resistant, they are not. I not only rinse them immediately after class, but also run them through the washer machine when I arrive home. They are very faded!! Great for lake and ocean swimming.

The fabric was flimsy and cheap. There was no lining.

These are awful - I felt like I was wrapped in a thousand yards of some old drapes. Heavy & unflattering, my hips looked 100X bigger & I just knew these would never dry after swimming -- who would ever use this kind of fabric for swimwear? I bought these as the previous swim shorts & tankini I bought from Beans maybe 5 years ago were awesome - wore them to threads so needed to replace. The old shorts I had were like a feather & dried instantaneously & were a nice athletic shape that made me feel trim.I thought these were going to be pretty much the same. But these hideous things! These just hang there - ugh - just horrible, I can't wait to return them.

First of all they were baggy in the leg. They are more for men not women. They we advertised as for women and the aren't. If I could have returned them I would have but I wore them to swim class and the legs float on to the waist.
