These are really fantastic pants when it comes to the very light, stretchy material and the fit. This material keeps you cool (sun protection + wicking), and is very comfortable because it is so incredibly light and stretchy, but it is also strong material so you don't feel like it's going to tear or stretch out. The waistband is excellent, because the elastic in it is robust enough to provide a good fit but not so thick or unstretchy that it's constricting and uncomfortable, as I find many elastic waistbands to be. The only thing about the waistband I would improve is the pull tie - the material in the tie is way too stretchy, making it hard to actually tighten and tie, so it's not very effective at adjusting the tightness of the waist when you want to. But the main thing that needs improvement, and the difference between 4 stars and 5 stars, is the pocket situation. There are six pockets, which is amazing for women's pants (thank you!), but they need to be improved. The two front pockets zip and they are fine, but could be slightly roomier/deeper. The two rear pockets button with single buttons and that is also fine, though velcro or zippers might also work and provide more closure since there are no flaps (and I prefer no flaps). The two pockets on the thighs need to be ~50% longer/deeper, to accommodate a smartphone. I've included a photo showing my phone case (same height as my Samsung Galaxy S7 phone) poking out of the thigh pocket. It's surprising that with an above-average amount of pockets, that they are not useful enough, and especially for carrying the one thing that virtually everyone carries. You can fit a smartphone in one of the front pockets, but it's vertical and pressing against you and limits your ability to bend without worrying about cracking the phone, so that doesn't work. Please improve this and re-issue the pants, and I will buy them in every color. Thanks!

I bought my first pair of Vista Camp Pants about 4-5 months ago. They were so comfortable I have since purchased one pair of each color. However, I'm beginning to see some pilling on the fabric. With pants at this price, this shouldn't be happening.

Love the fabric and style of these pants! They run large and loose; I tried them on in the store and chose a size smaller than I normally wear. I purchased two pairs- in black and navy. I love having the extra pockets including zippers and buttons to hold items in place. On the black pair I am not a fan of the gray bias tape used to attach the buttons on the pockets since it stands out too much-looks like a couple of polka dots on my butt! The bias tape on the navy pair blends in so it doesn't have the same effect. I would definitely recommend these pants!

I have these pants in all four colors, but this is my second review for them. All have been well constructed, except the nautical navy ones. After wearing the first pair about 5 times, the ribbon that holds the button on the side pocket pulled away from the fabric; it obviously wasn't sewn on carefully enough. So I sent them back and ordered a new pair. Today I put them on for the first time, and discovered that the pocket flap was sewn to the pocket. Back they go again! This time they are back-ordered until mid-September. Hopefully pair #3 will be better made than the first two. These pants are wonderful, but they are not cheap, so I expect that I won't have to make sewing repairs on a practically new item.

I bought these pants for a long flight to Europe. I didn't love them because there wasn't enough elastic in the waist and tying and untying the draw string was awkward, and the same with the draw strings at the base of the leg. They were too wide at the bottom. However, the soft waist and light fabric was comfortable, so I was relatively happy with them. And, they washed up like brand new, so I do recommend them with some reservations.

Finally a pant that fits me - I am very short 4'11", 108 pounds, and pants are always too long. These are cut large so order "down". I ordered Petite XS and they are still a little baggy but the length is nice. The rise is perfect and around the waist, drawstring ensures good fit. The pant cuff has a stretchy drawstring as well. Oddly it does not come with a cord lock so you have to pull the cord and tie a bow or knot - I am going to add cord locks. Fabric is very light weight and soft - the pants feel very breezy. Lots of pockets. Other than the pant hem it's a great design.

Over all I really like these pants. The quick dry material was very helpful on rainy days, and when they got muddy I could wash them in the sink and they'd be dry in no time. They are very comfortable and work great with a base layer underneath on chillier days. And at 5'2", I appreciate the petite length!

Just got back from Norway and these were the perfect travel pants...casual and comfy for daytime travel & hiking, but dressy enough for out to dinner wear too. Quick drying for a quick washing (or drying from a stream jump!). Wish the pockets were a bit deeper as it was a snug fit for my cell phone, but like the zipper closures to make sure stuff stays put. I'll order another pair for future travel!

I'm 5'9" 230lbs and the XL fits fine. I'd prefer a tall option (the bottom of the pants hit just below my ankle) but the elastic at the bottom makes all the difference. Adjusted more closed then the pants are cute (almost like joggers) with sandals and can easily be tucked into hiking socks. The fabric is lightweight enough for me to wear in Florida and the pants give enough room to wear leggings underneath in chilly weather. I've worn them hiking in the desert and as far north as Glacier NP in early june. Pockets are convenient and large enough to hold car keys, slim wallet, and large cell phone (love that the front pockets are zippered). Overall good pant, five stars if/when LLBean offers a tall option.

These are such easy pants! They slip on, feel good, wash easily, and dry quickly. Wonderful for travel, the garden, any casual summer occasion. I just wish they weren't cargo pockets, a style I have never liked. The pockets are down the leg far enough to be useless and would look silly when filled. They cry "casual" and make the pants less versatile.

I own 2 pairs of these pants and I love them for all of the reasons others have listed. My only request is to offer Tall sizes so that my ankles can be covered while wearing them camping and I'll be less likely to be bitten by insects. I'd order another pair, but I'm kind of holding out to see if LLB will make a Tall version. I am 5' 8.5" with longish legs.

Although it may not matter to most people, when I go away, it's essential to be able to pull something from the case, put it on & go. These pants check off the comfort, lightweight & style boxes for traveling, but will need to be hung out or even steamed in a shower before wear. I also noticed after one washing the seams are a bit puckered. Thankfully, I bought them during a promotion, but would never pay full price for them. I totally agree with other customers requesting more colors, specifically a dark khaki - on sale.

I just bought my 2nd pair, so obviously I like them. I'd like the waist a little smaller, but like the looseness in the legs & hips. The stretchy drawstring is a little funky, but I think it may be an improvement, as it stretches with you when you breathe.

I purchased 2 pairs of the Vista Camp pants for a trip to India. It was warm in February but not hot. These pants were perfect for my trip. I bought black & charcoal, & they did not wrinkle & looked nice the entire trip. They are lightweight, & they pack nicely. I was severely limited on luggage weight & they were perfect! I have since purchased 2 more pairs in different colors. I wish they had snaps -not buttons, though.

I really like these pants. They were exactly what I needed to hike in the steamy jungles and beaches of Costa Rica. They wicked moisture, dried quickly, fit great, had functional pockets, and looked nice. The one downside is that they tear and pull at the slightest thing. I accidentally rubbed my butt up against a tree while hiking and the whole back pocket on the right side is now torn. Some threads are hanging off, as well. While there is no hole, it is astonishing that these camp pants tear on the slightest rough spot. I love these pants, but if you're like me and like to climb trees to walk in the woods or jump on stuff, don't buy them as they will become shredded. I am disappointed.

I really like the cut and style of this pant. I am opposite to all of the reviews that say they are too loose in the waist. Mine are too tight. I am 5'5" - 175 lbs, ordered a Medium. I carry my weight in the waist. The fit is perfect everywhere but the waist. I will try ordering a Large to see it that is more comfortable. I do feel the price is about $20 too much and will only buy them if I get a discount. These are in no way bell bottoms, as suggested by one reviewer. The legs are straight. I wear them to work because they are lightweight and good for summer.

These are SUPER comfortable and lightweight. Perfect for travel, or just about anywhere you want to be comfortable. I gave them a 4-star rating only because the run large. I normally wear a size small, but these are so loose on my waist, I can't keep them up and too baggy around my rear end - and who needs that?! I am exchanging them for an X-small, as they are worth the effort.

These light and airy pants are wonderful for hiking as well as for camping. They dry super quickly and are free moving. They fit true to size in the waist however, the legs are rather too wide for my slim body. It's as if they were designed to fit over very thick boots! and for that reason I gave it only 4 stars.

I've had these pants since last August and wear them all the time. They're perfect for lounging, walking the dog, or running errands. I love the drawstring hem and the pockets are useful (although the buttons on the cargo pockets are hard to open; I would prefer zippers). I always pack a pair of these when I travel to change into at the end of the day. They're great for sneaking down for coffee in the morning at the hotel and I've even slept in them to keep warm in the field. The only issue I have with these is that they're really starting to pill, which sacrifices their clean look. Bean, if your textile supplier can work on that, these would be perfect!

These pants are very comfortable and I really like the lightweight fabric and especially the multiple pockets. The only thing that I'd change is a more tapered fit on the legs.

Love these pants! They are so nice to wear when you are bloated or crampy, or just want a looser fit at the waist. But with that being said, they started to pill up after a few washes. I have never put them in the dryer either... it's strange, little balls of fabric all on the thighs. (And as a woman, I don't want anything unnecessary on my thighs...)The material snags easily and for this price, I am sure there are better pants. I don't normally have issues with LL Bean products but I have two pairs of these and they both have done the same thing.

These have been my favorite pants for a few years now, but it seems that the fit is looser each year. I don't like them as much anymore. I haven't changed size, but the two pairs of pants I just bought this year compared to the pair I have from 2 years ago are looser and baggier than I like, especially from the waist to the crotch in the front. The inseam has always been 1" too short for me. I get the XS, so there isn't an option to go smaller. I don't plan on buying these anymore. I bought the lined version last fall and I thought the baggy feel was because the lined version was slightly different, but the unlined version is the same now.

Comfortable pants. Just a couple of suggestions...The waist drawstring is WAY too long leaving a huge tail that has to be tucked inside the waistband! And I assumed (incorrectly after reviewing the product photos on zoom) that there would be some way of securing the ankle drawstring (maybe a small toggle? or at least a divided drawstring that could be tied?) While the continuous ankle drawstring conceals nicely when the pants are worn open at the ankle, it is a bear to tie and untie every time you want to convert from gathered to open. Bought these pants for travel to the jungle where mosquitos may be a problem, so I could tightly close the ankle. But am dreading the tying and untying.

This pants fit well and are very comfortable. They are wonderful for exercising as they feel so light and stay dry. However, the fabric pills at any spot where it rubs against any other fabric. I am washing them turned inside out in cold water and woolite in an attempt to keep them nice enough to keep wearing. I think the pilling occurs during wear rather than during the wash when the fabric touches other fabric. Such a shame as they truly are a delight to wear.

I loved everything about these, except for the size. I am 5'6" and 105 pounds. I ordered the extra small, the smallest size available. Unfortunately, they hung off me like a parachute, even with the drawstring tightened. I did love the look, the light material and the comfort and I would recommend them, but sadly I will have to send them back because they are so baggy on me.
