We love these backpacks for our 8 and 10yo boys for hiking and camp! The only thing is, the water bottle pockets are a little too short for our 18oz water bottles so we just put them inside the main compartment. They wash easy and are super lite. No more carrying all the kids stuff in our backpacks. I also got the women's stowaway and love it too!

I actually bought this for myself for short hikes where I only need to store a water bottle, some small snacks and enough room for an extra layer. My other daypacks didn't have the padded shoulder straps, this feature on this pack is a real plus. The only feature that doesn't work well for me is the water bottle holders on the sides - I needed sizing for an adult bottle (e.g. 32oz min), and these pockets only fit a child's 12oz bottle.

Much more comfprtable than my 40 year old day pack. Easily adjustable while wearing it. The front strap Keeps the shoulder straps in place .

This pack is the perfect size for our 4 year old. She carriers about 2 lbs for a short while to get her used to wearing a backpack. She loves the pockets & color!

This is a good pack for the kid to carry with their items

Super lightweight and easy to grab and go. Very large side pockets for a mini(youth) sized backpack-so they can actually fit water bottles or snacks. The small pocket up front is perfect for a wallet and phone or chapstick/sunglasses/keys.

I purchased this small backpack to use as a purse for my recent trip to Alaska. I needed a bag to carry a wallet and a few other necessities that I would need for day trips. I bought it because it is water resistant, since it rains in Alaska often. I also had enough room in the bag for a bottle of water and a snack. Since we did a fair amount of walking, I like the hands-free feature. Perfect for my needs.

Bought this to my 5 year old to use as a soccer bag, fits his cleats, shin guards and uniform perfectly. Water bottle gets put in the main compartment as the side compartments are not big enough. It's adorable and easy for him to carry. Love it!

Smaller than we anticipated. Exchanged it for the larger size.

His things fit in and there are pockets for water bottle~he only attends two mornings a week

Absolutely the lightest and most comfortable backpack for my 8-year old. Fits everything he needs, holds all-sizes of water bottles in side pockets and looks very smart.

My son has been carrying this bag as his daily pre-school bag for two years. It went from being a bit too large on him at 2.5 years old to now perfect at 4.5. It's very lightweight but the main thing that keeps this as our daily bag is the chest strap! We like it so much I picked up another for my toddler who needs a bag for preschool very soon.

Great little lightweight backpack for my boy. Missing a star because I wish the side "drink holders" had some type of adjustable pull to hold a water bottle snuggly in place.

The straps are soft and comfortably padded, unlike the other LL Bean child backpacks that have hard, stiff straps. This Kids Stowaway Day Pack would have been perfect except that the side pockets are quite low and the water bottle keeps tipping out.

I am really disappointed as a hole has appeared despite having purchased this bag less than a month ago. It has had minimal use yet the fabric is wearing away. My toddler has used it less than a handful of times to preschool (just to and from the parking lot, usually with me carrying it). I can't imagine this holding up for it's intended use of "hiking" let alone light day to day activities. You would need to be very careful when using it to avoid it from falling apart. It's very unfortunate as I was really excited when I found this flexible and lightweight option for a backpack.

I bought this bag about a month ago - it went to school probably 8 times and then on a weeklong trip and already has a hole in. Disappointing.

I was so happy to purchase this thinking it would be light weight & an ideal camp bag for my son. However, it is cheaply made and didn't even hold my child's water bottle! Not worth the price for this bag. We have other backpacks from LLBean that are much better quality!
