I've had these for a few weeks now and after several speed workouts in them.I LOVE THEM. So much so that I decided to try them on my 16-miler today. And they totally performed! Just enough cushion for a long run, but light and springy enough for intervals. They're basically Altra's carbon shoe, but without the carbon. Also, they've held up really well! Very minimal wear on the tread, which I know was a complaint with the carbon version. I'd dare say these could be a marathon worthy shoe. I'm not going to get as many miles out of them as my regular trainers, and they are a little more pricey, but my feet and legs are super happy. Great job Altra!

I love this shoe! On my first run out of the box, I felt like I was being lurched forward. The shoe feels springy and makes me feel fast. I had to order a half size up than I normally wear in Altra's. The fit would be comparable to the Riveras. I would love to see this shoe in more colors in the future!

I raced the US Beer Mile Championships in these and ran one of the fastest women's times ever! Feels like they spring you forward and even super comfortable walking around town and through the airport in.

I wasn't going to wear them for my long run right out of the box but I'm dealing with a blister and these just felt so much better then my previous long run show and reduced the pressure on that area. It's fast. I had a hill workout but my warm up and cool down paces were about 10sec per mile faster without any effort. For my workout I ran up and down a ski mountain 10 times. They felt stable on the grassy slope. This is definitely my new favorite shoe. 16 miles 4 miles on a steep grassy slope, almost 1,900 ft of vert total. I'm sold. I can wear these for anything I feel except the technical stuff. I'm between sizes. I bought these in 9.5 and they fit perfect. I also wear 9.5 for Rivera's but wear 9 for Lone Peaks and Escalate Racers

Still a comfortable shoe. I like the Escalante 3 better, but they were discontinued. Also bought the Escalante 4 and still not as good as the 3 in my opinion.

I had to do a half size up because the shoe seem to run small. Otherwise they are one of my new go to shoes to run in

I've been wearing the shoe for months now and it has developed a little hole at the toe, so I'll need to replace them. They are extremely comfortable, and I prefer these over the Rivera because the cushioning never deflated. Often, I look at altra's website, for a shoe that also looks good, but the color schemes are often on the embarrassing side. Hoping to get something for fall/winter and more stylish, or streetwear. Maybe it's because I live in Chicago, but adults don't dress like that here. So I keep searching and I keep waiting. May have to pick up some new balances.

I already reviewed these shoes but am reviewing again after a customer service interaction. (I was unable to edit original review.) After contacting me via the first review I left, Altra reconsidered their first warranty decision and agreed to replace the shoes. I could not be happier. It's a lot of money to pay and have a shoe last less than 3 months with light walking. Altra should review its manufacturing materials to ensure their shoes last. See my review from two weeks earlier for details of the issue I experienced.

This style shoe was just OK, not much cushion and seems to wear out pretty quick. Only wore a couple weeks and already lacks cushions.

I think the shoes look great. I think running long distances are not a good idea with these. I'm training for a marathon and am not a fan. I ran 14 miles and had terrible blisters from my Tempo's.

I want to love these! I currently run in the escalante 2.5 which I love! (I bought 5 pairs when the 3 came out). I sized a half of a size up in the vanish. I've done 2 6 mile runs in them so far and my foot pad to my toes have went numb. I'm not sure the narrow toe box is going to work for me. This is concerning as it seems all the new models are going in that direction. Please remember the original toe box!!

On my third pair of these models, the first two pairs were awesome, however, these ripped after 25 miles of use! At least I got them on special a few months ago

I initially was very happy with the feel of the shoe. Unfortunately, this shoe fell apart so quickly. I have had many Altras over the years and all have lasted. In fact, I still own a couple of pairs I bought over 4 years ago. This shoe, however, started coming apart and not at the seams. Just random areas would start ripping and wearing down, even when I had not put many miles in it. This was the only pair of Altra I have ever had to throw away.

Been running in Altra shoes for years. These made my feet go numb numerous times. Went back to Riveria.

Bought Altras for 6 yrs, Escalante was my favorite, but now they are cheaply made but price remains the same. I got Vanish for the sale price, took 1 more chance, bottoms worn less than 3 1/2 mo.

Sorry for the poor review. I bought another pair, different style, that fit perfectly. Went reorder and they were out of my size so I tried these - twice. The first time, as recommended, I ordered a size larger than my regular shoe. The second time I ordered a full size larger and they were size too small. I have yet to receive reimbursement for both pairs of returned sneakers.
