I like the jacket though I bought the medium, which does not leave much room for layering on my aged pear-shaped body. Good construction, ample pockets, and seems like it will last.

Loved everything about this jacket except the way the hood rubs the back of your neck when not up

I previously owned the Cerium hoody which I really loved for it's as advertised weight to warmth ration. Certainly the Throium Hoody is a beefed up version of this down and for sure is more of a standalone coat. The issue I've had with this piece and the down insulated Beta AR jacket I recently returned is that the waist is super tapered. I'm 5'7 and 150lbs with broader shoulders and a 30 inch waste and still the fit was so snug and rides up when you bend over. Perhaps most disappointingly it was not as warm as I expected. The quality seemed really solid which had me really bummed because it was such a good looking piece overall.

I bought a Thorium in 2018 and it lasted me 5 good years. I just out grew it, so I just got a larger size. This is the go to jacket for everything!

I bought this dress two weeks ago. It is very warm, especially the hat can effectively keep warm and do not block the view. Its shortcomings: it can't be worn as an inner liner, because it's too thick to look fat when I put on my coat. Its hat will touch my head when I don't wear it.

I bought the Thorium AR jacket as a winter jacket for the 0 C and below temperatures in October of 2022. I own a Canada Goose Expedition for extreme Quebec winter weather but I needed a jacket that was meant for 0 to -20 degrees Celsius. The Thorium AR sure delivered. I wore it with just a t-shirt underneath at -18 Celsius and I was still comfortable for 30 minutes while waiting for the bus.
The outer layer feels really durable and I haven't had any issues with it in during the winter time. Sometime, feathers come out of it but... it's a down jacket so It's kind of to be expected.
The Thorium AR is not 100% windproof but it's a wonderful jacket for -1 to -20 Celsius weather and it will be my go to jacket for the upcoming years as Arc'Teryx quality clearly worth the purchase.
I'm 6 foot tall, 190 lbs and I like the large version as I have a little room for layers.

2nd Thorium Ive bought, and its just perfect. Thick enough that it keeps you warm in -35 to -40C temps without being bulky and restrictive. Awesome Jacket

Warm but not durable. Within a month of owning this jacket the outer layer had torn. There was no heavy activity or even an event that would have ripped this. Likely a gentle snag. Also noticing more degradation and loosening of seams.

Looks sharp. For the price, I thought the down would be more even in the jacket without cold spots.

Size is a bit small so I had to make a refund request and order a larger size. But, great jacket with good quality and great warmth

Jacket started leaking feathers after 1 week of purchase and zipper feels cheap. I spent thousands on products here and this jacket is overpriced, cheap quality, and very disappointing. Do not buy.

I was expecting this Thorium Hoody to be a major step up in warmth and comfort after reading its reviews and price tag. Sure, it's nice but at best only slightly warmer than my two Atom AR hoodies. My principal gripe though, is about the cuffs. The Thorium lacks the extended elasticized cuffs and instead has a 1/4 inch elastic band, allowing cold air to enter the sleeves at times. The elasticized cuff of the Atom AR (and LT) is one of the best and smartest features of any jacket I've ever worn. This feature should be on every Arcteryx jacket intended for warmth. No excuses.

I haven't had the jacket for long but so far it been really good. I am 5'9" and 175p the Large fits me great. I bought this jacket to be my around town mid range down jacket. And if need be throw it under my Rush jacket for cold days riding. The weight/warm feels nice for those cold but not crazy cold days. I've had a Thorium in the past and my only issue with that jacket was I would get wind up the bottom. This new one seems to of been redesigned and that no longer happens.
Pros- fit, high collar, fleece lined pockets, cell chest pocket, warmth, zipper and pull tabs work smoothly
Cons-no fleece lining on the collar. Nice to have for warmth and keeping the colour from getting discoloured. Arcteryx prob has a reason why they didn't include on this model but for my intended use I'd prefer to have it.

I recently purchased the Arcteryx Thorium Hoody and I am thoroughly impressed with its quality and performance. It is incredibly warm and durable, making it a great option for low output outdoor activities or a daily urban winter jacket. The materials and construction are top-notch, providing a cozy and comfortable fit. The lined pockets, hoody and hem sinch are thoughtful features that add to the overall practicality of the jacket. If layered properly I can stay warm in the extreme Canadian temperatures, down to -20/-25 with a light base layer and a fleece. Even with just a sweater underneath, the jacket performs well in temperatures around -10/-15. Overall, Like with most puffy jackets some cold air might go through the seams that separate the down chambers, I mitigate this by wearing a soft shell or fleece underneath or my Beta LT when there is a lot of wind.
I highly recommend the Arcteryx Thorium Hoody and believe it is worth every penny.

I have been wearing this non-stop here in Aspen. My favorite feature is the fleece lined pockets. They are really nice on the hands. The good is also very good. Zippers? Top notch. I'm 5'8" 160 lbs and I like the way the large fits. I have the Thorium Parka in Medium but prefer the larger fit of this jacket. It's not a huge difference in size between M and L for the Thorium.

So it seems pretty warm considering it weighs nothing, though yesterday was -7 and it wasnt super warm. But the waist and lower back design is not comfortable, its too tight, feels like I'm wearing a corset. Its kind if a ridiculous aspect of the coat. I got a Medium, I feel a Large would be too big in the shoulders etc. I cant wear a thick shirt under this, I can barely zip it up as it is. Considering a return or an exchange. I'm 5'11, 197Lbs athletic-ish build.

I really like this jacket, the construction feels high quality and it is certainly warm. The new two-way zipper is also great, allowing me to use it when belaying.
However, the hood is not helmet compatible, despite being described as so. When wearing my helmet with the hood up, I cannot do the zip up, and if I could the collar would come up to just below my eyes - not at all practical.
The odd thing is that on the women's version, the hood is much bigger and this is not a problem. Not sure what the reason is for that difference between the models but it's a big disappointment for me. I reached out to customer support about this - their response was that 'the hood would fit better over some helmets' - but not sure how accurate this is.
