I bought this a month ago and happy with the warmth of these bottoms.. I sized up since I am an athletic build and the large would be a bit tight and not allow another layer underneath for the very cold days skiing at one of the coldest ski resorts in Canada. On -20C days I will wear the Rhos along with a Phase AR underneath an insulated ski pant for resort skiing.

This is my 2nd pair. These are the best base layer available anywhere IMO. For a typical ski day all I need is this base layer under my arcteryx shell and I'm good to go. If it's particularly cold, I throw on one additional base layer and happy as a clam.

Disclaimer only used for a day.
I tried these on at the Kitsilano re-opening, just on a whim while walking to the change room and was immediately impressed with the warmth and comfort! I am a huge Icebreaker customer and I swear by their base layers, but theses feel more comfortable and the waist is a "soft elastic" which greatly adds to the comfort. I will need to take these through their paces but so far phenomenal and would recommend you at least try. Also worth mentioning I was so impressed with them I had my wife try them on and it was an immediate yes for her as well. She ended up getting both the top and bottom in black and was worn immediately when we got home. Easy purchase.

I purchased the Rho Heavyweight Bottom in size S, which is the smallest they produce. I am 1,70m tall and its still about 20cm too long for me. A tailor will get it fixed for me and then I think it will be just great. But other than that I think this is a fabulous piece of clothing. Its really comfortable and warm.

An excellent product for cold winter days on the mountain.
Comfortable, breaths well, very durable even after extended use and multiple washings.

These are a great base layer to be used with a shell pant. Used them this past weekend skiing in Vail where the temperature on the first day was 40 and the second day was 25. Performed very well.

As always with Arcteryx, these are high quality. But, the fabric is not heavyweight, it is mid-weight. There is no waist string or adjustment, just elastic. The one pocket is small (a phone wont fit, a large set of keys might but would be annoying). The inseam is barely long enough. (Ordered a medium, I am 150lbs, 31/33 waist/inseam). If $120 is ok for a totally basic base layer, then go for it.

Really good base layer, nice and warm. Used it recently skiing stuck underneath my sabre bib and just them 2 kept me very warm each day in between -12 to -17 weather.
Also bought the heavyweight zip top to go with it but i wouldnt ever buy it again because it catches a smell really easily in high output activitys. I would stick with a true merino top for anything like that.
But yeah the bottoms are quality.

I use these pants as a standalone (for trail running in cold conditions) or as a baselayer under a shell (for ski touring and ice climbing). They are quite warm but retain a good breathability for high intensity activities but I wouldn't advise to use them with temperatures over 2-3 C. I feel they are a little too long and abundant in the legs but this is not an absolute con, while I don't understand the absence of a fly zipper which makes peeing a hassle. Personally I don't see any utility of the small pocket. Otherwise good baselayer

The Rho heavyweight is really well made, super warm and cozy. The stretchiness makes movements easy. Will be using it for skiing.

I bought this due to the excellent wear, warmth, wicking, fit and quality of a RHO Heavyweight Top and Bottom I bought last year.
It seems this set of RHO Heavyweight doesnt fill as thick as my previous pair. The RHO bottoms which are large fit tighter and different from my previous large bottoms.

Wore them for the first time today to test them. Was 20 Fahrenheit, sunny day. Wind was about 6 mph. I went for a walk and wore them as my only lower layer. Given the conditions, I found them surprisingly comfortable. Well, my legs were not warm, they were not cold either. I think this was partly due to the sun, given they got a little cooler when I was walking in the shade. Overall, they kept my legs comfortable on the walk. My intention is to use them as a base layer under my ski pants. They fit like pseudo-tights. Not too tight and not too loose. The lining is very comfortable against the skin. I have a 35 inch waist and 32 inch inseam. I chose Large which appears to be the appropriate size.

I'm 173cm, 70kg,male.
I currently work at a backcountry lodge and use it daily as a ski guide. In -15 degrees, this one layer and ski pants are perfectly fine.
I like it very much because it feels good and has excellent stretch.
One thing I'm worried about is that the inseam is longer than the normal size, so it's left over.

They made these unnecessarily smaller and tighter to the pointer that they are not as comfortable as the old style. I just dont see the benefit to it. Because of this, I will likely move on to another product for baselayers.
