The GTX come with Tungsten Carbine mini-cleats (like golf shoes) that cannot be removed. Practically speaking, you'll have to wear these things only outside. Put them on inside, and you run the risk of tearing up your floors. Think twice before driving too as they grab carpet. I'm not sure what went wrong in product design/feedback that made them think this was a good idea, it's not. The niche design is too narrow, and on mixed terrain like the Sierras where you're walking on granite, I can see the GTX behaving like ice skates. No thanks, I'm unwilling to try. I'd add, under no circumstances should these EVER be brought into a tent!! Making the tungsten carbide cleats removable would have been a better idea. The standard goats, albeit not waterproof, provide great traction on most surfaces. Where more traction is needed, you probably shouldn't be running with these, or if you're using them for hiking (as so many do), microspikes can be put on easily. Wet terrain is why a waterproof Goat is needed, sans the titanium cleats. Note: I've been running and hiking in Hoka's since the first gen Mafate I had to buy imported. I'll still keep buying them because despite frustration at times, they do seem to listen to customers. Hopefully they'll read this, make some changes. Bottom line, unless you want a shoe you have to put on/take off at the trailhead, you're only hiking dirt not mixed terrain, and you need a shoe that gets limited traction on ice, move on.

I was so excited to recently buy this shoe to replace an older pair of spiked winter running shoe. Well, we are experiencing another ice forming event that caused havoc on trails and calls for having cleats or spikes on for ANY travel outside the house. This shoe did not disappoint. It is sweet to be able to stay upright on a run despite the daunting conditions!

Excellent protection for a 78 yr old runner with arthritis in his feet. The firm platform with good gripping action is great for me.

Great looking shoe - plenty of cushion which is why I wear hokas. They fit a little small so I bought a size up. Spikes are noisy on pavement and hard floors. The Vibram sole should last better as I put some serious miles on these.

Really great feel to these shoes, running on cross country trails in winter AK. Gortex and seams keep feet very dry. Absolutely great traction. Much more comfortable than I expected for gortex and spikes.

I bought these Speedgoats because HOKA doesn't make a waterproof Stinson 7. I wanted to capture the magic the Gaviota 5's made in my life when out on the golf course in me middle of winter (a mid-state California winter but still cold and wet). The Stinson 7 looks ro be the trail version of the Gaviota 5 but not waterproof. So I bought the Speedgoat with spikes just for the gtx lining. Low expectations but I was amazed. Even though they sound like studded snow tires on dry pavement they grip the ground as I track my golf ball hither and yon. The laces release from a "heel lock lacing" easier than the Gaviotas. I don't know if the spikes add anything to the Speedgoat's grip on wer grass and dirt, but they make my feet feel great after a round.

Should offer the spikes in the GTX mid model. Ran the trail w/a trace of snow and ankles and feet got wet.

I love hookers, and decided to look into whether they had golf shoes. I was shocked that they did, and ordered them. When they arrived, it was just in time for my member guest golf tournament. When the pro heard the metal clicks walking across pavement, there was concerned about how almost no courses allow old metal spikes. These are constructed in a way that does not harm greens or grass.

Speedgoats always exceed my expectations. I wear Speedgoats for all trail activities, so when I saw these GTX Spike, I knew they'd be great for our snowy and icy trails. They are perfect! I've worn them a few times and am so happy with my purchase. Ordered my regular 9.5 size.

When I ware these shoes, I sound like a horse on sidewalks! Only good for rugged trails. Not for everyday use.

I work long hours on my feet most the day and walk at least 6-8 miles a day. Was looking for a shoe with comfort and grip. The foam on these are not very giving and don't provide much cushion making it uncomfortable after long hours on my feet. They do have good grip and the gtx works great from keeping my feet dry in the rain. If you're looking for a shoe to wear for long hours on your feet I would not recommend this model but it would make for a good hiking/trail running shoe.

Bought these for hiking. The fit was very different in the toe box than my Bondi 7's so I returned them
