My first pair of Bondi's were way too big. I was ready to write a terrible review about how much I hated them and how they made my feet hurt, but I decided before I did that I would exchange for a different size.
I bought half a size up from my traditional running shoe size hoping they would still fit and with the way the shoe is constructed it simply didn't work. Like some reviews have noticed, the outsole almost cups your foot into it, and if the sizing is off at all, it will feel horribly uncomfortable and rub/push in all the wrong spots.
I honestly can't believe how different a half a size smaller shoe feels. Now that they actually fit on my foot properly, I love these shoes. I've been running out of a competing company's max cushioned trainer for a while now, and these are simply better in my opinion. The way the outsole cups your foot and offers some arch support is truly awesome. And the cushioning has a good balance of plush and firm, like the description says.

Well constructed. Lots of stability and cushioning. Could not ask for more. Well done!

These cushiony shoes hug my troubled, bunioned, wide, pained feet and cradle them safely and securely for a walk or run that will leave my feet feeling invigorated, not worn out and needing a TLC soak and massage. These are my go-to exercise and even everyday shoes from this point onward.

I am on my feet all day. Bondi 7 was my first pair of Hokas. Bondi 8 is my second pair. These extra wides with superior cushioning have been a lifesaver. First shoe I've ever worn with plenty of width and all-day comfort.

This review will mostly be in comparison to the
Bondi 7, which I had in the same size.
Upper: Heel collar still has foam but it is thinner and smoother, feels like it should be much more durable especially if you tend to mash the heel a little when putting the shoe on. New upper is better in terms of lace retention, tongue is more comfortable, and upper doesn't squeeze the sides of my toes as much when the shoe is tightened. More range in how loose/tight I can get the shoe, and can keep the shoe tighter for longer than the 7 without feeling uncomfortable. Does not breath better or worse overall; 7 was hot on the sides but could feel breezes on the top of the foot, 8 is less breezy on the top but makes up for it by being cooler on the sides.
Insole: less of a dish on the toes, more of a dish in the heel. Similar arch support, no edge rubbing. Feels better with bunions than the 7, however my insoles squeak a little on the back of the heel which didn't happen with the 7's. The sticker on the insole is still there, this will peel and become uncomfortable over time unlike a properly printed insole like what Skechers does so use some isopropyl alcohol to remove this if it starts to bother you.
Midsole: Most reviews seem to be saying the 8 is softer than the 7. This is wrong. While the 8 has a slightly higher stack, the foam is noticeably firmer. It feels way better when running (smoother transitions, faster feel) and as someone with tailors bunions and big toe callouses I actually like this one better than the 7 for my toes, however the heel will feel quite firm when walking compared to the 7.
Outsole: pretty much the same, but with the rubber tread pattern from the Clifton and deeper foam cutouts.
Stability: Still a stable neutral, but does feel more stable with the new foam. Older folks may have an easier time with balance in these.
It feels very different initially putting it on, however after much use the 8 is a fantastic upgrade, I prefer it to the 7 overall.

I just got my Bondi 8's two weeks ago. I'm a school teacher and spend the entire day on my feet on hard floors. Having had foot surgery last year, I truly don't believe I could make it through the day in any other shoe. If I could, I don't want to find out!

I've had many versions of the Hoka Bondi and the Bondi 8 is a great improvement over previous models. I am 72 years old, 6'2", and 200lbs, I walk 3 miles a day on a treadmill and do some outside walking too. They are well cushioned and comfortable right out of the box. The new tread pattern is very good also. I buy 14D in all black so I can wear casually. I'd buy again, thx HOKA.

This is my first pair of HOKA’s. Love the style and comfort. I tried the Bondi 7 as well as the 8. First set was too small but can always count on Zappos easier exchange policy to make things right. If this first pair works out, like I think it will, I’m sure I’ll have another pair.

Toe box is a lot more comfortable than the Pumas I used to wear. I tried these against the Hoka 7 and SR and preferred the 8. Very happy with this shoe!
