Bought another one of these ... because it's perfect for my uses.
See my other review below; this review adds on top of that.
It's got a compartment that has soft cotton to protect a nice leather wallet which is easily accessed by rotating the bag to your chest.
The main capacity was great for any small shopping (like a jar of preserves) that a tote bag or similar isn't necessary.
My one complaint is that the website description is clearly incorrect and I must revise my last review: there is no standard water bottle size that can fit a 2" diameter sleeve. I checked both MEC and Canadian Tire and no water bottle fit. That said, I didn't buy this bag for water bottle holding but the first negative review would have a valid point ... except I put my small umbrella in the "water bottle holder" and it fit perfectly.
There's been clearly a miscommunication between the product design department and the marketing department at North Face. I tried to tell the online chat help this but their scripts held strong that it was a water bottle holder. It clearly isn't. It make far more sense that this is an umbrella holder ... which makes its compact utility even better. For this size of bag from coast to coast of Canada, I would rather an umbrella holder than a water bottle holder anyways.
If I want to carry a water bottle, my Manna bottle fits fine in the main compartment. Totally not the end of the world. There may or may not have been sarcasm in the last sentence.

The sling's a nice size pack for shopping and hikes. It's large enough for a bottle of water and my windbreaker and the strap compartment is a perfect fit for a mobile phone.

I got the pink one its very cute and dainty. Fits well and its comfortable. Obviously its a tiny bag more like a fanny pack.. so don't expect to put tablets and stuff in there.. just get a backpack at that point. but its perfect for a few small things on a hike. good quality and it shipped to me in 2 days.

Trying to find a shoulder bag that a guy can wear with confidence and without worry of judgment from other guys has been a long journey.
I'm the guy who loves pockets because of course you need your wallet. Of course you need a place for coins. Of course you need a place for your keys. Of course you have more than one key. Of course I need a big phone ... my eyesight is getting worse. Plus, videos are better on bigger screens. Of course, I need this or that.
What? I can only use pockets? Yeah, I'm the guy with wear lines on my jeans where the wallet with too much stuff has created an outline. My female friends always had purses ... I have no interest in purses. They seem to focus on pretty rather than utility.
I want pockets and convenience if I am gonna carry a small shoulder bag at all.
Finally, I found this one. It resonated immediately. There's a pocket on the shoulder strap. There's a mesh pocket for miscellaneous on one side. There's a sleeve that's perfect for a passport or other folder papers on the other side. It's not too big, not too small. But yes, the water bottle holder is skinny ... so I just gotta find a skinny water bottle that fits.
This is the first single-shoulder bag that I can say that I feel comfortable wearing. My jeans pockets are celebrating. They may have a hangover tomorrow.

It's my go to pack. It's so convenient to use and it looks good too. You don't have to worry about pick pockets because you can put it in front of you for total safety.

I absolutely adore this sling bag! It's the perfect size for carrying my belongings. The only thing I'm not particularly fond of is the side on which the bag has to be worn over your left shoulder instead of your right. I wish it could lay flush against my back over either shoulder.

Love this sling bag! I bought this for a better bag to take in the Disney parks. It fits everything I need for a park day with room to spare. It is light weight and small enough to take off and slip under my feet for the rides. I like that the sling strap can hold my phone and quick access to money or card.

Pack was right size. Not too big, not too small. Problem was I'm a last handed person. Will switch to other shoulder. Gave to the wife and wear a different brand with a switchable strap.

The North Face Borealis Sling is a highly versatile and comfortable bag for daily use or urban hikes. Its most notable feature is the ease with which I can access the entire main compartment with a single hand while keeping the other occupied, making it extremely practical. However, its quality is compromised by the external bungee cords: the thread frayed shortly after use, despite only being used to secure gloves or a beanie without applying excessive force. The North Face should urgently improve the quality of this component, as this minor failure significantly cheapens a product that is, in essence, quite good.

I read a LOT of comments before getting this bag, yet, I am still baffled at how almost awesome it is, yet it sucks.
Yeah, the water bottle holder is beyond tiny. I thought a normal thin bottle would fit. Nope. It's smaller than a can.
The strap is truly short. And the strap is 3/4 wide, vs 1 inch wide. So tiny strap, tiny buckle, crazy short.
There are more points. But it feels like the designers made this on a computer, and never made a mockup before sending it out to be mass produced. I can't see how this WAS wanted to make.

The inside mesh pocket, which I love to use, makes items difficult to access on the go because when wearing the bag on my front side the zipper zips from the bottom up. If you know you know.

This is the perfect size bag for day trips. Enough space for the essentials in a compact bag. Access to all pockets without having to remove the bag is super handy.
