So I am 51 and never had a pair of Doc Martens before this. I bought a bunch of long dresses for winter and wanted some boots to wear with them. To address some of the negative reviews, the leather does not feel fake or look plastic-y to me. I bought the black cherry color, and they are BEAUTIFUL. I bought a size 9 women (41 euro), while I normally wear 8 1/2 in most shoes. These are definitely too long and kind of wide on me. My foot is exactly 10 inches long. However, these don’t run in half sizes so I decided to keep them instead of returning them and exchanging for the smaller size, which may or not fit me. I read a whole bunch of these reviews, and they were all over the place as far as which size to order, so I took a gamble and bought a larger size. I ended up being glad I did size up because I can tie the laces to make them feel truer to size. When I lace them up all the way tight, my heel doesn’t lift and it doesn’t really bother me that there is extra room in the toe. I would rather that than have the toe rub on the front of the shoe, as some reviewers have noted. These are comfortable and the sole has a nice give and kind of bouncy feel to the rubber. Mine were made in Thailand; it’s interesting to note some people have said theirs were made in Vietnam or China. I kept them rather than return them and risk getting a leather I didn’t like or something rubbing me the wrong way. I don’t have any pain where the tongue meets the shoe as some have noted. I wear fairly thick socks with these. You almost have to wear a sock that extends above the boot so you don’t have rubbing on the back of your calf from the boot. Overall, I am a satisfied customer and plan to wear these for many years.

I absolutely love these boots! I usually wear a 7 and ordered 7’s. Fits perfectly. They’re very stiff but after the 2nd day wearing them out they’re starting to loosen up and break in nicely. I can’t wait until they’re really comfortable. People stare at them when I’m out in public, I assume it’s because they’re so awesome!!

Doc martens are the best! This color purple is amazing. Worth every penny and these will last for 20 years or more

These are great boots. Ordered the red and thought they sent black when I opened the box- that’s how dark they are, however I love them. I am a 7.5 and ordered a 7 and they fit perfectly.

These (purple) Doc Martens are my first ones ever. I've tried other models on before, and was surprised, that this style (1460W) doesn't have that common Dr Martens seam problem - where the seam digs into flesh between the shoe's tongue and the shoe body, which hurts like hell even when just trying the shoe. Also, having ordered this pair blindly (they don't carry this model in our country) as I've loved the colour, I was afraid the shoes will be too wide for my narrow/average feet - as I was absolutely sure W stands for WIDE, and there's no website that clarifies that in the whole wide internet!!! :D Thank you thank you, the reviewers who've explained that W stands for Womens'. My foot length is 24,4mm, I always wear EU39 in Converse and Timberland. I chose US8/UK6/EU39 in these and they fit just right. The Pascal MET model in Silver, that I've also received in identical size, actually fit like they're a whole size too small for me - I could barely take a few steps in them. I have sensitive feet - they start going numb in 5 minutes, if the shoe is tight in any place. This happened with 1460W pair as well - it's a bit tight in the sides of the upper curve of the foot, however I'm sure it'll fix itself after a couple of wears or my "rite of wearing in". PRO TIP: How I usually wear in my all thick/stiff leather shoes: I pour some vodka on thick socks, put socks on, then put on the shoes and walk around/sit in them (with wet feet inside the boots) at home for a couple of hours. It does nothing at all to the feet, but any leather shoes usually become perfectly molded to my feet after just one time of doing this! And since vodka evaporates quickly, the shoes will be dry and ready to wear in a couple of hours.

I purchased the black patent leather pair and they are adorable!!! I also had the shoes, sandals and boots in the 90’s and remember loving them but thinking they were heavy- these are lightweight and so cute

Cherry Red Arcadia. Super cute boot. I was hoping they would have the logo printed on the outside of the boots. Apparently this style does not. But I love them.

I normally wear a women’s 9 & have slightly wider than normal feet. The recommended size US 9/UK 7/ EU 41 fit well. I love the purple color. Doc’s never have enough arch support for my flat feet, but this pair of 1460 W accommodated my half orthotics well. The leather is quite soft, so I don’t anticipate a long break-in period.

The 1460W Nappa Leather boots were my "just right" Doc Martens. They were the 4th pair I ordered and did not have to return because the fit was off or uncomfortable, including a pair of Made in England 1460's. I usually wear a Woman's Size 9M, and these are perfect. My first day, I walked in a parade and was smiling the whole time.

So cool looking, but uncomfortable. I guess these need a break in period. Rubbed my foot in all the wrong places & left me limping through the mall. Couldn't wait to get back to my car. I had a pair of these when I was a teenager & I don't remember them being that uncomfortable. I wore them everywhere back then.

These shoes are awesome. Nice leather, perfect quality, super look. My problem is that my feet are rather wide and these shoes run rather narrow. I wear size 10 wide, and ordered size 10. They seem a little too long and they look too big on me, but if I order a smaller size they will be too narrow. For normal feet they would be just great.

Love the color, but not the material. I felt like it cheapened the boot a bit with how shiny it is. Fit is true to size. Possibly size up if you plan on wearing thick socks with these. And, because of the material, you may need a break-in period.

I’m a 7.5, but ordered an 8 because someone said to size up due to my wider feet. The width fit me great, but my heel lifted too much, so I need to get 7.5. Otherwise, the quality on the leather is great and feels good.

I usually take a 9 in most shoes, and ended up with the US Womens size 8 in these. They still felt a little big so I ordered the Dr. Martens Comfort insoles, and it made all the difference. I've been wanting a pair of these boots for years, love them. Everyone says they need some breaking in, but they don't really fell like they need it to me.

You can't go wrong with this classic style! I have the dark cherry red color. I'm in love with them and will wear them for years to come.

This is my first pair of Dr. Martens. I usually wear a 7.5 in boots (Teva, Merrell, Born). I ordered both a UK 5 (US Womens 7) and a UK 6 (US Womens 8). I don't like my shoes too tight, so I was leaning towards keeping the larger pair, even though they looked a bit comically long on me. The smaller pair felt sufficient in length, but I felt more constricted in the width than I prefer. I read many many online reviews that promised that the boots would stretch. I very hesitantly kept the UK 5 (US Womens 7). I wore them around the house for a few weeks for just few hours a time while wearing 2 pairs of thick socks. I am SO glad that I listened to other reviewers (thanks you!) and kept the smaller size because they stretched out perfectly and are even loose when I wear thinner summer socks. I have very problematic feet due to years of ballet/pointe and these boots, after the break-in period, are now more comfortable than even my Tevas, Merrells, and Birkenstocks. Today was the first day I wore them while on campus all day where I walk about 7000 steps and up 16 flights of stairs. Even with my heavy bag and backpack, my feet are doing great! I ordered the Cherry Red Arcadia. The underlying red is not as pronounced as in the photos (they mostly look shiny black), but I'm hoping more red will show through with more wear. I LOVE them and I am excited to try more colors and styles.

I did not originally realize the 1460 was unisex, and 1460W was the women's size....when I originally ordered the unisex, the shoe was HUGE -too long and too wide. I order from Zappos due to ease of returns, and returned the unisex and went on waiting list for the 1460W to restock. They sell out fast. The 1460W fits perfectly-I am a narrow medium size 7but I prefer to size up to the size 8 because I like extra room and wear socks with the shoes. The nappa leather is much softer and easier to wear in than the traditional leather doc. MUCH easier to get used to the feel of this shoe in less time. Highly recommend this shoe.

Love these boots! They are simple, yet edgy, and can be worn in almost every season. I wear them for casual days and also going out with friends. I was nervous about the sizing, but based on the other reviews decided to go with an 8 in women's and they fit perfectly. (I'm usually a 7 in flats/heels and 8 in athletic shoes.) I've had them for about a year now and they still look brand new. Great purchase.

Love these, they are a classic. Comfortable and well made. A bit heavy to wear all day but otherwise a top pick for when I know I need to be on my feet. Can't go wrong with these.

I bought these for my wife and she's obsessed with them. They run about a size bigger than normal, but they look amazing. She say's they are very comfortable. They remind us of the Pearl Jam/Nirvana grunge rock days of the early 1990's. Awesome!
