Sizing seems off.....I wear a 6 1/2-7 usually; went with a 7 in this boot so I could wear a thicker sock but my feet were just swimming in it. The top of the shaft gaped out, even though this is supposed to be a regular width boot -- and I don't have super skinny calves. And the leather just looked weird and plastic-y -- not what I'd expect from Sam Edelman. Going back!

I wanted to love these boots as Sam Edelman no longer makes the cognac Penny riding boots. These Fable boots are a pretty light color, almost like a sand/tan. Which is accurately portrayed in the images, but I guess depending on your skin-tone, can look somewhat odd against bare calves. I also did not have any issues with the calf circumference like other reviewers mentioned (I’m 5’10”, 170lbs). I did not care for the shape of the toe (quite rounded) and the height of the overall sole felt high and bulky. Overall, I thought it was a pretty masculine style boot and in an unflattering color.

I am a 10 in absolutely every shoe brand, and my other Sam Edelman’s are a 10, but these couldn’t zip up. Disappointing.

I was hopeful about this pair because I thought it would be a slimmer fit on the calf all the way up, but it was not. Might be for others! The heel was hugged by the boot in an uncomfortable way and the leather slouched around the ankle area. I tried it on with leggings so maybe jeans or thicker socks would work better, but for me it was not what I wanted in a casual boot!
