Finally, we ladies have a flannel PJ made from the exquisite Portugese fabric!
Warm! Cozy! So soft! Now, could someone please explain why we have BUTTON sleeves, like those on a shirt? The men's version does not. The large is GIGANTIC, too! The length of the bottoms is for a lady much taller than I have ever dreamed of being! To be able to enjoy the flannel my husband and son have worn for years and years, I will do the alterations. I wish LLBean would sell the top and bottom separately so I could get a large top and a medium bottom.

The fabric is noticeably thinner and less dense than the men's pajamas I purchased as a gift several years ago. The top is generously sized, a bit too big. The bottom is ridiculously large, so much so that I double checked the size tag because I was sure I had been sent a much larger size than the medium it was supposed to be. The chest and waist of these pj's measure about 44 inches, the hips are about 47 inches - for a size medium. I'll be exchanging these for a size small and hope thry're a better fit. Beyond that the seams are not finished as well as they have been in the past. The inner seams are not double stitched so that the seam sticks up and rubs against your leg. I can stitch the seams to correct that, and I can take in the size small if they're still too large, but I really shouldn't have to do alterations on a pair of pajamas.

First off - I absolutely love these PJs for their softness, fit and style. They feel wonderful on, really warm yet light and the tartan pattern is my favorite. But good lord - they really shed A LOT in the wash. I should have listened to other reviews but really wanted to get them so took a chance. The amount of lint in the washer and on the clothing is unreal. I will be washing them on their own from now on to avoid having to defluff everything else that was washed with it. I really want to love these, but overall not that impressed given the extra effort of removing lint after washing.

I guess I'm used to pajamas that have a little give to them. These have absolutely no give at all. I order up a size per a review and they are huge. So, I should have sent them back, but I didn't. Just not a great purchase for me. They do seem to be good quality, though.

I bought the regular rather than the petite, so the pants are too long and need to be hemmed. The workmanship on the pjs is nice, the fabric thick enough and soft, but after I washed them there was navy fuzz on everything. The fuzz didn't come off in the dryer so I have navy fuzz on the things I mistakenly washed with them. THEY SHOULD BE WASHED SEPARATELY, at least the first time.
Hope,

The bottoms were a little large. Liked the fabric and pockets. The top was a little small across the shoulders and in the arm holes. I bought Lands End to compare and found it the same. The difference with Lands End is you buy each piece separately so I could order a larger top if wanted. I returned both and went with knit pants and top.

Similar to other folks, I found that these began pilling within just two washes causing them to thin out and become much less comfortable. This is disappointing because initially they were very soft and cozy pjs

I bought these PJs for my family for the holidays. I love the colors and the quality - very soft and well made. But wow are they unflattering - they easily make me look 30 pounds heavier than I am. I would return them, but I got them monogrammed and they are really comfortable - I just wish they didn't make me look enormous.

Quality of flannel & garment is great. I love the PJs, but they're big! PJ top can work ok. Pants are like 2 sizes too big. You should sell separately. I've encountered sizing problems with most apparel (usu running small but this one surprised me as big).

The fabric pilled after just 1 wash. I was cleaning the interior of my washer, removing a lot of fuzz. Now, the material is not smooth and if I hadn't chosen the dark plaid, it would probably be too unsightly to wear. Very disappointed.

These PJ's are comfy and soft but leave enormous amounts of lint in the washer and dryer. Wash them separately.

I purchased 4 pair of pajamas...3 pair of the tartan flannel pjs and 1 pair of the Scotch flannel, which is this one I'm reviewing. This pair I did not like at all.
They pill, which makes them look awful but the biggest problem is the waist band. The elastic band feels very thick, so when you lay down it feels like a big lump, it's so uncomfortable, that I only wear them for relaxing, I won't wear them to sleep in. And for the price I paid, I should be able to sleep in these pajamas and be comfortable!

My wife loves warm PJs. Bottoms fit great, but the top is a little too tight for a busty woman.

The plaid is pretty. On first wearing, the p.j.'s are super soft -- soft as a downy chick. After the first washing and drying, a fist-sized lump of lint appeared in the dryer screen. After four washings, the flannel has started to nub and has totally lost its initial softness; the dryer screen now has an egg-sized lump of soft lint. These p.j.'s fit well and are warm but they too quickly lose their comfy softness -- it's all going into the dryer screen!

The quality of the PJs is wonderful, however, I ordered the PJs as a gift for a friend of mine. She is 5'11" and I thought they might just fit her but they didn't. The shirt was fine but the length of the pants was not enough. I was hoping they would be long enough in spite of the fact that they were regular size. Why they did not make or offer PJs in the tall size is beyond me. Why not offer PJs for tall people? The PJs just barely fit and one has to account for the shrinking that happens after washing them. As a result my friend returned them.
I would suggest offering sizes for tall women as well. I don't believe this is a problem in the men sizes.

LOVE the rich color, softness, and wonderful warmth these PJ's provide (purchased the Royal Stewart). Haven't owned a proper pair of PJ's in ages so was excited to take the plunge financially at LL Bean.
That being said.....overall I'm disappointed (and I'm totally bummed that's the case!).
I'm a curvy, 5'9", size 18, pear-shaped gal. After reading lots of reviews that stated the PJ's were currently running large I purchased the XL ones.
1) I'm disappointed that LL Bean doesn't provide a complete size chart for any sizes above XL, it was rather confusing/frustrating and as mentioned, had to rely on other reviews to figure out what size to order, and hope for the best.
2) Because of my size & curves, I found that the fit of the PJ Top was very baggy and the sleeves quite short.
The bottoms were, sadly and uncomfortably, poorly fitted across the entire hip/gut/rear/thigh area(s). So sitting in them is not fully comfortable.
I found that at night, I get tangled/stuck up in the baggy top when turning over, and that my hips feel tired/achy from the constriction of the bottoms that don't account for the curves of a real woman.
If I was a stick insect like the models then I suppose I'd really have no fit issues with these PJs, but because my hopes were high, I do feel quite disappointed in my experience of the product.
That being said, again, they are beautiful, very warm (which I am totally stoked about), and very soft so I am so far just putting up with the discomfort/getting used to it, until my relative dimensions are more "proportionate...." ;-)
5 Stars for - Color/Warmth/Softness
1-2 Stars for - Fit/Sizing (but at least they aren't running truly too small)
0 Stars for - LL Bean's lack of product/sizing/modeling for curvy women.

They are nice and soft BUT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT wash them with anything but another pair of the same. There was so much lint, it's a wonder there were pajamas left.
I put the mens and womens in the washer at the same time, with a dark green sweatshirt. The flannel made a mess of my washer, produced a full lint trap from the dryer and there is lint on the INSIDE of my sweatshirt.
I have never written a report like this before, I have never had such an issue with any LL Bean product!

These PJ's are very cute. Love the soft & warm flannel material.
I have had some lint in the dryer on the first washes, but that's normal for first few washes. Not sure that's an ongoing issue.
What I'm not thrilled about is the fit. The pants fit great. Nice & roomy, which is how PJ's should be. But not overly baggy. However, the top is too narrow in the shoulders and the sleeves are too short. I'm considering getting a large top because I don't like the constricted feeling of the top. PJ's should be roomy, not form fitting like a button down shirt.

I enjoy the feel and look of these pajamas very much. They are so warm and cozy, and a classic look. I would give 5 stars if LL Bean would sell the *top* separately. I have a petite torso and regular length inseam, so I had to purchase two sets, one in Petite XS and one in Misses XS. I now see that I could have purchased the petite set just for the top and the misses pants separately. Still, if they were all separates, I'm sure it would help lots of customers. I know very few women who are evenly proportioned on top and bottom - PLEASE sell the top and bottoms SEPARATELY.

As a huge fan of flannel, pajamas and true tartans, I have loved these for years. I have two lovely pairs from 2-3 years ago that I adore pulling out once the weather gets cold. I was looking forward to adding another pair to my collection this year so thought I'd check out the ones in my local LL Bean store. I was so disappointed! They are now much thinner material, way too big & baggy (in my usual XS) and, in general, lacking the special style that always makes me feel happy when I wear my old ones. I'm going to pass this year. Please please, LL Bean, go back to the old version of these pj's!!!!

Petite fits fine for 5'2". Flannel is comfortable, but in the first wash lost lots of flannel in the washer and whole handfuls in the dryer. Be prepared to wash separately for a while. Not the quality I expect from LL Bean.

I bought two pairs of Women's Scotch Plaid Flannel Pajamas. I was very disappointed. The quality of the material is barely mediocre. It's thin and comes out of the dryer a mess of wrinkles. Definitely not the quality I expect from L.L. Bean.

Bought extra large for overall less movement restrictions. Buttons gap in the chest area and need to be placed closer together.

I ordered this expensive flannel pajama set for my 96 year old mother for her birthday present. LL Bean has always had a good reputation for well made garments utilizing quality materials. Although the construction of the pajamas is good, the flannel is lightweight and flimsy. After only a couple of washings it looks dingy, wrinkled and shouts of poor quality material. I am so disappointed in the quality of the product. I plan to return it. So disappointing. It's a shame because it was sewn well and fits well. I hope the quality has not diminished in LL Bean's other products because they always had such a good reputation.
