If you're between sizes, order the larger size. I sent the 1x back and get a 2x. It runs slightly small, especially in upper arms and shoulders. The new one is perfect, although oddly, the sleeves are just a little long. I roll mine up anyway, so I don't really notice. The main thing is, I love the shirt! The slightly larger size fits well. There's room underneath for a t-shirt or waffle-knit, though it doesn't look big or baggy with or without another layer. The shirt allows total freedom of movement. The flannel is thick, soft, and warm. Colors and bright and deep. This shirt is super comfy to wear. Now that days have gotten chillier, I hate to take it off!

I wear these flannel shirts as jackets/sweaters, so I buy them larger than I would if I were going to tuck them in. For reference, I generally wear a size 12-14 top and a 12 bottom. I have several. They get softer with each washing, and these colors are nice. I would love it if Beans would get some other non standard plaids and tattersall. They are well made.

So soft next to my skin - fabric is extremely soft & love the vibrant plaid. Neck size seems large compared to the rest of the shirt, so I would prefer the button-down collar. Overall, nice flannel shirt.

Although I usually wear a size medium, this shirt works best for me in size small. I have two in different colors. After several washings, material has begun to peel a bit--thus, the good rating vs. excellent. Nevertheless, it is a great flannel shirt for everyday use.

I tried to order a fitted shirt, but in late Oct, they were already sold out. I live in Southern California, and it is just starting to get chilly by late Oct. I loved the Stewart plaid so I ordered the shirt anyway-- but it is really big. I love the quality and weight of the flannel, but not the fit.

I was not a big fan of flannel shirts as I remember them as a man's purchase, more like a lumberjack. However, this was on sale in red plaid. I thought why not try it. Glad i did!

I love the plaid colors, the cozy softness of the fabric, and the quality. I ordered the relaxed fit because the other choice was fitted and I thought that might be a little snug. My mistake! The relaxed fit was too big and lose for my taste but kept it anyway. So be aware when choosing.

The color is beautiful , just as shown..The fabric is surprisingly flat , not plush, no nap. I expected a a plush flannel . Also the sizing - I ordered " xl", because I have a couple bean flannels in "L" that are just barely large enough. The xl is too large, and the sleeves must be turned up a full cuff . But better too long than too short. I am keeping it since if I exchange ( by mail) " L" might be too much smaller. I really miss the store that used to be in Columbia, Md where i could actually try things on before buying.

I ordered large going by LLBean measurement. This shirt is relaxed fit but it is also 46" across the bust. Sleeves and shoulders, neck and length are fine. It's just wide!

This is a great shirt with excellent quality- very thick and soft. I usually wear a medium and I swim in this shirt - sleeves are long and it is very loose fit.

I ordered two of the flannel shirts, 1 week apart. The first one I love; great length, loose, yet tailored look. The second which I received a few weeks later fit completely different. It is longer and more fitted. My guess is that it was miss labeled, (fitted rather than loose cut). The cut is obviously different when comparing the two. I will keep it however but it's not what I ordered.

As a 5'7" woman with narrow shoulders, short arms, and a short torso but wide hips, it can be a struggle to find a shirt that fits well without either bunching up around the waist, or making me look huge with sleeves that drape too far over my wrists. The sizing on this shirt is just amazing and I am extremely grateful. I ordered both a Petite Medium and a Petite Small, and the PS was perfect. Also the colors: The black watch tartan is deep and vibrant, but with subtlety. My only caveat is that this flannel fabric is pretty fluffy. I'm a university prof, and the second time I wore the shirt into the department (carrying my backpack full of graded papers in on a non-teaching day), I noticed that even in that 7-minute walk to my office the fabric had started to "pill" - developing those little oblong nubbins that can happen when fluffy fabrics rub against something else. It was where my backpack (over a thick jacket) made some pressure on my hip area. This is very unfortunate - I was hoping to use this shirt quite a bit at school on non-lecture days, but if the fabric pills up, then it's not presentable. I have now washed it twice, and the pilling doesn't seem to have gotten much worse, so maybe this will just stay at a moderate level. And, I realize this is really a trade off - thick, warm flannel is prone to pilling, and smooth flannels are lighter and won't keep you as warm. My advice: Buy this shirt for the warmth and the comfort, but be aware that the fabric is not going to stay smooth if you carry anything over your shoulder while wearing it.

This is a really nice flannel shirt: good thickness of fabric, pretty tartan. However, be aware that it shrinks during the first wash. I bought my usual size large, tried it on before washing and all seemed good to go. Plenty of ease and a good comfort fit in the shoulders and arm length. Then I washed it in cold water, ran it through the drier on low as instructed. Re-tried it on and gosh, it shrunk. The arms were shorter, the middle seemed snugger, the shoulders bit into my armpits. I guess I should've bought an XL. Oh well, I'll keep it since I already cut out the scratchy labels prior to washing. Just consider the shrinkage when buying this shirt--if you're near the top edge of a size, go up one for a comfortable relaxed fit.

I like flannel because it's so comfortable. This shirt is a lighter weight flannel that works well indoors. Outside in winter climates, I'd probably opt to include a T-shirt underneath for added warmth. It has a relaxed fit making it more roomy in middle (tummy) area. That said, that's exactly the area that needs another inch of fabric. If you're a skinny teen, no worries. If you don't mind showing a bit of belly, go for it. Otherwise, opt for a larger size to get that extra inch. The length is good, so it covers over my jeans nicely.

This fabric is some substantial flannel and is very cozy. The relaxed fit seems true to size, not too big. My only complaint is the neck and collar seem big, with a big opening, almost like a man's shirt. Seems like it needs a button higher or maybe a more feminine (rounded?) collar.

Delighted with the clots softness and well made construction of this shirt - I could have order a size smaller because of the great quality and sizing! I am very pleased!

The colors are great and the fit is good. In laundering, I found the fabric to be more wrinkled than I expected.
