I bought this full-zip sweater fleece jacket as well as a half-zip pullover sweater fleece at the same time. They are both current merchandise from 2025 (i.e., not sale merch left over from last year), so presumably they should be sized the same as they are both sweater fleece products. I tried on the pullover first and it was big - shoulder seams way past my shoulders, body kind of wide. It's comfortable, but loose. I could wear it, but think it looks a little sloppy. I was planning to wear the half zip as a sweater so I'd like it to fit a little closer to my body. Next up, I tried on the full-zip jacket (for which this review is intended). Both items are size XL. I'm an XL in many other LL Bean products, and have several of these sweater fleece in my closet from prior years, so I do know what size fits me. (I'm 5'10" with a solid northern European frame.) This jacket was so snug, I had trouble getting my arms in the sleeves. I did succeed in putting the jacket on, but it was uncomfortable. The arms are way too tight in the biceps, it's too tight across the chest, and it's very form fitting throughout the rest of the body... I feel like I'm stuffed into it! It's definitely going back, and I'm not re-ordering. It's frustrating that neither of these items fits. One is too large all over and the other is too small everywhere. If it were a problem with just one of them, I'd say the item was mis-sized but they're both XL and there's no size in between to gravitate towards. Typically I would recommend these sweater fleece items. I buy a couple new ones every year to freshen up my closet and live in them during the winter. They're easy to wash (unlike a typical sweater), a little more durable than a regular sweater, plus they're warm and cozy. However, if they don't fit they are worthless. I'm not sure what's going on with LL Bean these days, but it seems like there's little quality control.

Bring back your classic "Mountain" jacket/fleece!! This new one is terribly
unflattering. Again, bring back your classic! I returned it!

Returned right away. The boulder color is very nice, but the sleeves are way too narrow and tight. No way could I layer under jacket especially in cold weather. Also, don't care for the LL Bean logo right on the front of jacket.

I ordered this in a petite large. Very well made except for the sleeves. They are too narrow and if you are wearing a long sleeve shirt underneath, forget it. I don't know if this is a problem with the petite sizes or all sizes. Had to return.

The fit was hopeless for me. Chest part was so tight it flattened me. I felt my upper arms also were restricted. I've tried this style before and no change of size helps.

I returned this item. I ordered it in petite and found the arms were too long and it did not fit properly. Plus, the item was 100% polyester and I found it to be quite itchy.

This was my first time ordering anything from LL Bean, my parents are huge fans. I wore this 3 times lightly and the cuff of the sleeve came apart

I loved this jacket - it was everything I wanted in the color, coziness and fit, but then within 2 weeks of getting it the pocket zippers both broke. The zipper teeth came out of the catch on one side, on both pockets, and then could not be zipped up again. While I admittedly utilize my pockets a lot for dog treats - that's the sort of use LL Bean should expect! Incredibly frustrating and should not happen at this price.

Light can pass through this thin fleece jacket. The zipper won't zip. I'm looking for a full zip sweat shirt. This is being returned.

I purchased this sweater fleece jacket last fall online and I also purchased one as a gift for a family member at an LL Bean store. The sweater quickly began to pill all over and I now only wear it around the house. I am very disappointed in the LL Bean quality.

I really liked the style of this jacket. Ordered an XL so I could layer under it. Color was just what I was expecting. Tried it on several times but each time my arms would begin to itch from the fleece. The itching and uncomfortable feeling would last a long time after taking jacket off. I have never had a fleece top of any kind do this. I would only be able to wear it with tops that had long sleeves. I purchased it to wear during our trip to Europe this Fall. I will be taking some short sleeve tops on the trip but then wouldn't be able to wear this jacket if it became cool. Sent it back.

I have had this jacket for six months and the fabric is not holding up well. There is fraying on the cuffs.

I liked the jacket, except for the glaring white lining in the pockets. I normally would leave the pockets open, thus useable, so the white lining would obviously shownot a good look. But for this I would have kept the jacket. I'm 106 lbs, 5'5" & ordered the XS. Lincoln, CA

I'm a medium. The sweater was too tight in the underarms. A large would've been too big. I returned it.

I wear a ton of LL Bean. This one looks good but it's 100% polyester and doesn't breathe at all. I find my back gets all sweaty in this. Vastly prefer my wool blends. If you tend to feel hot in synthetics, I'd ignore all the positive reviews and avoid this one. It's a sweat inducer.

I wore this jacket about 25 times and the right hand zipper broke.I would be very careful what you order from this company. It was a gift and I have no receipt so help from them.

I bought this 12/31 and while I was at work last week 1/26 I noticed the zipper on my left pocket had come off the track and I was unable to fix it. For $100 I did not expect any quality issues- especially in such a short time frame. The color (blue) and fit are nice.
I work in healthcare and purchased this instead of another popular brand that is about $60 more. Seems like I should have gone with the other brand!

Can't believe within 3 weeks one pocket zipper came undone and can't get it to work. Would not recommend.

I have a few similar LL Bean fleece jackets purchased over the years, like them very much & often use them in place of a cardigan. I periodically check for new colors, it's a very useful jacket. But now that the Bean label is displayed so prominently on the front (used to be a smaller label & was placed inconspicuously along the bottom hem), I will not buy another one. I refuse to spend money on an article of clothing to be a walking advertisement for a store or brand, especially for something that costs almost $100! I'm surprised that LL Bean would find that an acceptable practice.
