I grew up playing hockey on the pond behind our house with my brothers and sisters. This anorak is what we wore every day in the winter, with sweaters underneath. That was 25-30 years ago. So I was very happy to see that LLBean is now selling this updated version. In my memory the original version felt a little bit more like dense woven cotton (although it may have been a blended fabric), while this one feels a little bit more like a slightly thinner synthetic fabric, but it's still great to have. I went for a jog yesterday morning in the rain in New Mexico, it was around 47 degrees, and it worked great, shed water well. Also, I felt the sleeves were a little short. I initially ordered a regular L, but because the sleeves were a bit short I re-ordered the "tall" version. My sleeve length is 34-35 in dress shirts.

Bought it to walk my dog in any spring weather. Fabric feels solid, yet very light. I am 6'4" 190lb, got size XLT. It is true to its size, but tight over polartec.
It will be perfect for touch warmer weather, and for now I am getting a second one XXLT

This Anorak is one of the best items EVER created by LL Bean... I first bought one over 20 years ago(and I still have it, wish I could include a picture), but it was starting to show its age, I mean, after 20 years of constant use, we all show our age. I remember looking on the website a couple years ago and seeing that the Anorak was no longer in stock, so I gave up on getting another, I tried a couple of other ones and they just did not do it for me, so I contacted Customer Service and asked them if they would ever make these again, and was told they should be in stock at the first of the year, well I kept checking and checking, then finally in mid February, I checked and they had them. Ordered one right away, when it arrived I tried it on and something did not feel quite right, the material was softer than the old style, the fit was a bit more relaxed, I could not believe that they had actually improved upon my "go to" light wind breaker... Even though I live in Florida now, I can see this Anorak getting plenty of use in the fall winter and spring.... Thanks LL Bean for all the years of enjoyment I got out of the first one, I am sure it will be the same with my new one.... I will still use my original one for fishing and other messy things.... It still works....Even after 20+ years.

This is similar to the anoraks that Bean has sold in the past. Quality construction and materials. A bit most form fitting, but not tight at all. The packing pocket feature is a plus.

A Bean anorak is an extremely versatile, durable piece of kit. My Bean anorak collection now numbers 7, the earliest being a 1980s model that's still in great shape and worn regularly. Glad they're back on the market after 3 years absence. Just received my 2017 model. It's made of soft supplex nylon that feels somewhat like cotton. The long front zipper is 6" longer than previously, making it easier to pull on and ventilate. Consequently the kangaroo pocket is smaller (still 8" deep on a medium, though). The waist cinch cord is now gone. Hood cord keepers are retro leather discs instead of cordlocks. Fit is somewhat more athletic than the 2012 model (which was cut wide) and more in line with the traditional fit of other Bean 'raks, ie, neither confining nor drapey. The hood no longer has the wide velcro hood fit strap that the 2012 model did, which in my opinion is a good thing. I like the hood shape; with a cap underneath it's effective in rain. Reverses to easily stow into its own kangaroo pocket. And the bottom hem cinch cord is now accessible from both sides. If you want to waterproof the garment, I recommend you not use detergent to wash; use a sports wash soap instead. Detergent will "resist" waterproofing treatments. Bean tends to suspend anorak production every so often; if you're an anorak fan, consider picking one up while they're available.

So like this, my third, zipper failed in prior two, well beyond return date but still much life left otherwise. Wished for a more rugged zipper, otherwise was very pleased with it.

I was disappointed that there is no inner draw cord for the abdominal area as the product used to have.

It seems a bit tight for an XL. It seems to repel water fairly well.

The only thing I don't like about this is how overly large the hood is. Otherwise, it's great. Very comfortable and keeps you dry

The itemis clearly well made, the stitching is tihgt and the design is pleasing. The item does not appear to be true to sizing, order one size larger.

I bought the quilted-insulated version of this two years ago. I use it spring, winter and fall. In the spring and winter, I use it without layers as a windbreaker and rain jacket. In the winter, I use it over layers and it protects me from windchill. I find the zippered pocket useful and convenient. I loved this anorak so much I opted to buy this one for my son. It is exactly like my garment without the insulation. He loves it but I feel fortunate that I bought the insulated version when it was available,

The jacket is great- two design suggestions- the cord for the bottom should not be stretchy and the cuffs should have velcro strap closures

The anorak looks cool and is perfect for spring/fall morning/evening bike rides. I have not tested this in the rain yet. The pockets are nice. There's only one issue. I'm not sure if I received a defective jacket or what but the sleeves are surprisingly short for a tall size. I was hoping they would at least be about an inch longer.

I've been buying Anoraks since the 90s. Back then, you could order a solid color anorak in just about every color. For years now, you've been offering only 2-3 solid colors and crazy color block mixed colors. You can throw a solid-colored anorak over work clothes and still look presentable, not those color blocks. Please bring back more solid colors.

I've been buying these for 30 years. I remember the days when you could get more colors than the three that have been provided for the past few years. The colorblock ones are too much. Bring back more basic solid colors

Just what I wanted for traveling. I had room to add extra layers under if needed. Love the way it packs into itself. Would have liked a way to attach it to my day pack. It does take up a bit more space when kept inside.
