Used this bag as a carry-on for a one month trip. It is huge, able to swallow everything, such as my drone case, jacket, spare clothing etc. External water bottle pockets are huge and stretchy, making it easy to slot bottles, tripods, or any other object you need easy access to. All compartments, straps and handles are extremely well thought out, and everything a traveller could ask for. However, as with all things in life, nothing is perfect. I faced two main issues with the bag over the course of one month of travelling: 1) The weight of the bag. All those compartments, straps and magnets come with a price - it weighs more than 2kg empty. Add a few more things in, and it suddenly feels really heavy. So it is definitely not suitable as a day pack - much of the weight you are carrying will be the bag itself. But as a sturdy carry on when flying, taking the train between countries, it is more than capable. 2) Chest strap. There does not seem to be a way for the top end of the chest strap to stay secured - it kept coming loose and flopping about. Overall, despite the cons above, this is a wonderful bag for travelling. It would be perfect for me if it was lighter (or could be made lighter by removing the waist straps for instance).

My wife & I recently each bought 45 liter travel bags for a 3-week trip to Europe. We both really like the quality and organizational capabilities. We did a lot of research and settled on this one. HOWEVER.... on the first day & leg of our journey, I lost the chest strap. I have no idea when or how - maybe taking the pack off or putting it on? I made sure to properly secure it to the shoulder strap. Normally, this wouldn't be much of a problem, but these packs really need the chest strap to keep the shoulder straps from sliding outward. Adding insult to injury, my wife's fell off as well, but I was able to see it fall on the floor. Everything else here is a really nice pack 5-star pack, but the chest strap needs to be permanently secured to one of the shoulder straps! Hence, 4 stars. Hopefully, the designers read this....

Excellent bag overall. Well made, lots of pockets, lots of room, and the expandable compartments is hella handy. But the width of the pack was just a bit too narrow to fit a 17" laptop in the sleeve, which were my needs. 15" should fit fine, as advertised, but I wanted to see if the largest backpack in the line could fit a 17"-er, and it was just slightly too small in the sleeve, even though the bag itself physically had enough width.

My first hike with the 45 L Travelbag was on a warm day on a strenuous route. I found it comfortable and rode well. It didn't rain but I sweat through the bag and items in the lower front inside the bag were damp . Therefore I ordered the rain cover as I suspect things would get damper still in a downpour. That won't cover my back and things may still get damp from sweat or a downpour that runs down your back.

Took it for a solo trip, the bag can accommodate a lot but carrying around was difficult. The straps are not much comfortable and walking around with is gets unpleasant soon leaving shoulder pain and uncomfortable back.

Very Good: . Excellent, high-quality materials and zippers . Great durability . works perfectly with PD pouches . astonishing beautiful bag . Tuck in system works like magic But not great . the bag is heavy . I always get worried that my laptop could be squeezed when packing a full load . lack of compartments, you have to tuck the middle compartments to gain more space for trips more than 3-4 days . the chest strap is so losable that I lost it in my first week . pricy in my opinion . i worry that the straps will shred if rub a velcro or rough surface. I think it probably will.

Lots of great features. Some of the downsides are that there isn't enough belt adjustment for myself so I cannot use it at all, the shoulder pads are a bit hard and a bit narrow on a bag that is able to hold 45L, and the sides zippers can be harder to open and close ( not sure if this needs to be broken in or not)

The 45L has the feel of a bag that will last for a long time. Added the small camera cube. The bag arrived with a defect on one shoulder strapwas able to fix at shoe repair shop. Otherwise looking forward to years with this bag.

I bought this a month ago and have been mostly happy with it. I've taken it on one trip so far with more to come this summer. The construction is SUPERB. The side access is great and all the little details are awesome. It's a BIG bag for everyday use. It barely fits under an airline seat and a stickler flight attendant will probably not allow it there. The waist belt padding doesn't go far enough by about 2-3 inches so the web strapping can get you a little if you tighten it too much. I do find myself wishing there was maybe one more internal organization pocket but I'm being picky.

Bought about a month ago, used on two trips. Packing a breeze with branded cubes and comfortable on my old back, even fully loaded with and without hip belt. Space and pockets well laid out. Small quibbles: 1. I am not a fan of the address card holder. It's hard to access and likely to be overlooked if the bag is found by a Good Samaritan. 2. No key chain leash! MacGuyvered a decent workaround with a Tom Bihn swivel carabiner and a NiteIze leash but this should be a standard for any pack.

Bought the 45L Travel Backpack and overall I'm very happy with it. Couple of things to note, the material of the bag gets dirty quite easily especially if you have a hairy dog. I constantly have some sort of marks and hair on it. I also like the cube design of the bag but I don't love the fact that we have to spend even more to make this bag functional plus the cube system robs precious space within the bag itself. There is some dead space all around the bag with the cube system inside. Overall, I'm pretty satisfied.

I love Peak Design and I love this travel camera pack. I love the strap on the back of the bag for slipping it on top of my luggage. It is light and I have even managed to figure out how to carry my Sony 600mm in this pack! There is one feature of the pack that could easily be improved and make it much more useful. The hip strap and buckle design is flawed. It is not strong, difficult to slip on connector innto the other strap/buckle, and does not support weight in the pack on anything over a short walk. Use a wider strap and, especially please, a buckle that is a legit buckle, and that can be tightened to carry the weight of the pack on the hips.

Overall I like this bag. Like most all peak design products it is made well, the zippers are great, the stitching is nearly flawless, organization is ok. - Design I have the sage color, its great. its a very subtle green color and it looks wonderful. There is only one zippered pockets on the outside that is easily accessible. There are 2 more on the sides of the pockets on either side, but if there is something in the pockets the zippered ones are very hard to access. I am not usually one to use clamshells but it works very well especially since you have other ways to access the inside. (side note it claims a 15" MacBook Pro, but I can put my 2021 16" in the sleeve with a 12.9" iPad Pro and they both fit just fine. - Organization its ok. There are a lot of pockets inside, but its all mostly just loose pockets. There is actually much less space than I expected inside. In the main compartment there is a divider that is a full zip around the edge that expands between the main and secondary compartments. Unless you unzip that, you don't really get much space. But if you do open it, then you lose out on the smaller compartment that has better organization. The buttons to collapse the main section can sometimes be very difficult to snap. I really wish the outside of the bag had some MOLLE on it. - Durability As always its good. The zippers are strong, the material is thick. It will last a long time. The straps are very durable and should hold up for a long time.

I am almost overwhelmed by the versatility of this pack, and the cleverness of the design. It will serve me well in the years to come. There are a couple of caveats: 1) the padding on the shoulder and waist straps is not that thick, but that is because they are designed to be neatly tucked into the pack; and 2) if you don't use the snaps to compress the pack it is nearly impossible to put it under the seat in front of you on a plane. I know that the pack was intended to be the carryon item, but I had hoped to use this as my "personal item" that I could stow under the seat in front of me. It is also rather pricey, but as I said, beautiful design is expensive.

I bought this backpack primarily for travel, so a lot of the features that it has for photographers is not for me (ie. side access) Pros: Stylish bag, keeps shape and protects what's inside. Seems fairly water resistant (rain fly can be added to make it waterproof). Strap hideaway system is convenient for travel. Expandability is a nice feature when needed. Amazing water bottle/tripod pockets that are deep and gusseted. Cons: It's a heavy bag at 4.5 lbs, and combined with the relatively thin and narrow straps, it doesn't make for the most comfortable carry when it's fully packed out (I try to keep it under 10kg's). I really don't like that the sternum strap detaches, or isn't better secured. It seems like only a matter of time before I lose it (it already came off once, but luckily I noticed).

I love the everyday backpack. Even the messenger, the slings, pouches and cubes. They are great not just because of durability, tech and beauty, but they can hold all my stuff in dedicated compartments. Even the new tripod stand has a dedicated spot for the Allen wrench tool. So the 45l travel bag I purchased not just because of travel (since it will hold a lot of clothes and gear) but because I'm a big guy and the everyday backpack looks a little small on me. However, when I try to store all my little Knick knacks and use the travel as a backpack I miss the compartments. A small Tupperware for lunch just wobbles around in there unless I fill up the bag or get more cubes. Again if I want to bring just a mirror less I don't have convenient dividers to secure it from jostling around. I don't even have a cool hidden compartment to hide my wallet and toothpick holder. Granted, it's a travel backpack. So I understand it isn't an everyday backpack. But if there was a way to add dividers it would be perfect! Or make a 45l everyday backpack!!! I love the mag latch and miss it when I use the travel backpack. (Or I guess I could lose weight). Anyways, I do love your products. Aloha.

I was looking for a travel backpack for a couple of months. I usually carry my camera gear in other bag so I had to carry two bags. This backpack is huge. I even got a small camera cube, it easily fits two lenses and chargers. I watched detailed videos on website and they are super helpful. This bag has so many hidden feature, no wonder you have to put video detailing each one of them. I can now easily carry clothes for a four day trip, along with my camera.

I really enjoy this bag. Mostly use it for trips where I don't want to pack luggage so it has been used mainly where i need an all-in-one. It works well for 2-3 trips depending on how light you travel. It's pretty big for an everyday bag but it does pack smaller or larger. I am a big shoe guy so I like to pack an extra pair. The outer front sleeve is a nice feature but I don't ever find myself needing to use the cross straps which makes that front sleeve a bit of wasted space for me. For the price, I wish that at least one packing cube was included.

With the large camera cube, I can fit all the gears that I need. Plus I can put cloths I need for at least 3 days with the expansion compartment. However, the weight is pretty heavy even without anything inside. Also, the shoulder pads are thin so it digs into the shoulders. I hope Peak Design releases some addition paddings for this bag, maybe for 30 bucks.

Been looking for the perfect backpack since a long time. The one that does everything. And this one is awesome. It's very functional, customizable, very well constructed. They've though of everything. Everything you ever wished is there and everything is so well organized and accessible in seconds. I really think this is the best travel backpack actually on the market. Perfect for travelling, but it is not made for hiking. The shoulder straps aren't padded enough, the waist belt doesn't give much support, a lot of the weight is far from your body and you back & shoulders are getting tired very quickly. During a trip, I had an 8 hours stop in Amsterdam. On purpose. I wanted to visit and photograph this beautiful city. So I walked around during 5-6 hours with this backpack. Ok it was heavy, because all my photo gear was in there + iPad + some clothes + accessories + toiletry bag. Everything, as I said, accessible in seconds, a real pleasure, but after walking for a few hours my back was broken and my shoulders were hurting me. That all said I'm really happy with the purchase.

I bought this bag days before taking a trip to Italy. It was my carry-on bag, so it never went through the checked luggage. I only carried it around on my back, no hiking, no banging it around on anything rough at all. Yet, the material looks very worn already after two days. All of the pockets and the expandable space is amazing. In Italy, the two people I was traveling with were both pickpocketed, but Not able to get into my backpack, so high ratings for safety! Overall, I love the bag I just wish it didn't look so worn after the first use.

Like the look, feel, color, structure and features of the bag. If I had 2 suggestions it would be to make the expandable section be part of the larger section of the bag, instead of the front. Let the front be its own section all the time. The second would be to have the lap top sleeve be its own separate section as well. Access to the laptop without having to open the main compartment. Great bag otherwise.

I bought the bag and a couple of cubes primarily for photography. I almost never use it for that. The companion packing cubes are a magnicent pain in the rear to attach inside the bag using the supplied c-clips, hence I almost never use it. The idea is that the camera is easily accessible from the cube via one of the side flaps. Great idea in theory but almost completely impractical in realty. Speaking of the camera cube, I have not been able to find an arrangement that suits my kit nicely despite the plethora of velcro dividers supplied (Nikon D7000 plus 2 lenses). Using the camera cube as a built-in to the bag requires you to fold the top of the cube back around the cube, but the system is clumsy at best. The zippers on the internal mesh divider are small and very hard to manage, inhibiting easy access to the body of the bag. Most of tge time I leave the mesh divider rolled up in the bottom of the bag. Again, clumsy. And last, the button snaps at the top for shrinking the bag are extremely hard to snap. But that's okay because they come unsnapped almost immediately - useless. Despite all the above, I like the bag and use it often for air travel ... just not for its intended purpose. I bought the bag and companion camera cube despite its very high price because I admire clever design. But in this case, I think Peak Design was being too clever by half.
