first pair of Freedom since the 3 and while the Freedom 5 is much different, it is just as good; if not better.
I am not one to buy into the high stack, ultra cushioned craze or the super expensive plated shoes that suggest you'll run faster just by virtue of what is on your feet. I've always preferred a neutral, moderately cushioned & responsive shoe.
The Freedom 5 retains all that I liked about the 3 and improves on the upper & cushioning.
It is my go to gym shoe and will be in my rotation as I begin training for my first race season in 10 years.
Saucony is the best "big brand" running shoe company in my opinion and has been for some time.
Next up for me is a pair of "lifestyle" shoes.

I feel like the sole is slightly inclined towards the inside of the foot.

A very responsive show that is light and agile. Rather narrow, and my feet are narrow, so expect a "break in" period for most runners. Overall more responsive than the Kinvara 12s that i own with a little more cushioning while maintaining that lower profile as compared to the Ride or Endorphin series.

Would be great, if only the upper had more structure! The platform itself feels great. The responsiveness is quick, and the cushioning is just right. Support feels good on the footbed.
BUT - the mesh upper does not secure the foot. I live in a very hilly area, and coming downhill in this is torture. My feet instantly slide to the front of the shoe where my toes get jammed until I get to a flat or rise - which can be quite a while here.
Saucony - the zero-drop/minimalist approach is great, but not at the expense of foot-security. Next round, please make a more structured upper for this base!

I bought these even though they didn't come in a wide fit because I have some Kinvara 12s that aren't a wide width and they fit fine as long as I don't wear a really thick sock. Unfortunately, these don't fit even with the thinner socks.

Coming from the 4, I was looking forward to the update.
Well, it fell flat literally. The 5 is much more kinavara (light, low cushioning, perfect for speed workouts) then what I was after. If that's what you're after un a beefier frame than the kinavara, you'll love these.
Hope the 4 makes it back soon!

Needs to be available in wide sizes. Also the backs of the shoe need to go back to the older freedom soft versions so your heels don't end up rubbing through all the back again.

I've had these shoes a little over a month, and they are already falling apart. I bought them because I had to return the new Guide model I bought because it was giving me severe knee pain. It was the third pair of Guides i owned so it was really disappointing that the new design was causing such problems. I went with these because of the shoe finder recommendation. They are comfortable and look great, but I always felt the heel was really soft. If I'm just standing still, I have this sensation like I could roll backward in my heel at any time, very weird. Then i noticed about a week ago the rubber sole where it attaches to the foam at the heel is all pulling away.
I've been wearing Sauconys for over a decade and have never had a problem with the dozen or more pairs I've owned before.

Saucony Freedom Five is a well made shoe, however, the front or forefoot is not as wide as the Saucony Freedom Four. I was ecstatic to find the Saucony Freedom Four and use it for Cross Fit and HIIT workouts. This was the best shoe I ever found for the type of workouts I do. Unfortunately, the fit from the Freedom Five is different - forefoot portion is narrower. Soon as I put on the Five there was discomfort. If your feet are narrow you would probably will not notice this design change. The five fits more like a NIKE shoe and the four more like a New Balance as far as the widths. I did return the Freedom Five shoes and received a prompt refund from Saucony.

Having Freedom 3 and 4's, this was not in line with what those were like. This is a very stiff shoe and very narrow, little comfort, and very difficult to get on/off. Hope they bring the original style back soon. Returned these the next day

not the freedom pedigree I was looking for. decent in comfort nothing freedom like, was a huge fan of freedom 3, but this one is a disappointment. why to kill something like that is beyond me. pretty stiff non responsive sole, and why suede on a running shoe!? it attracts stains and gets dirty even in just one small walk. disappointed

wear saucony all the time..This was actually my ninth pair. I actually took off this shoe while running to see if the sole was missing. Definitely not there best running shoe. felt like running with no sole.

I've worn the Freedoms for years, but this new one is not the same. Compared sole to sole, this one is more narrow, meaning your heel has less stability. Also, the heel box on the inside feels smaller and you feel the edge of the insole. They've also changed the laces and tongue. Overall, these just aren't usable if you were relying on the old Freedoms.
