#sweepstakes. I have run thousands of miles in multiple brands of shorts. These are simply the best shorts I have ever worn. Zero chafing, zero smell, and they dry quickly. No more 'wet diapers' after a long run!

These are unbelievably comfortable, and short enough to use for speed work

My new favorite run shorts. The liner is supportive enough to not have to wear boxer briefs under. Well made and dry fast. I'm 6' 152lbs and wear a size small.

I'm 5'9", 182 lbs with a size 34 waist. I contemplated sizing up to a Large but the Medium is a nice, snug, perfect fit for running and most any activity.

These are some of the very best running shorts I have ever purchased, and that is from someone who has bought 5" shorts from every major manufacturer. What I especially appreciate about the merino sport shorts is they seem to breathe better than fully synthetic shorts, and have a "softer" feel against my skin. The materials, styling, and cut are all top-notch. #sweepstakes

Great waistband, it is thin/low profile, and not too tight. The merino liner feels good!

I love this short! wish the pocket is a little bigger to fit my phone. It is very comfortable and this will be my hiking short for Tour Du Mont Blanc next month.

I use these as a casual short, for workouts, and for running. Comfortable and form fitting. I went with a small (30 to 32 waist) and I'm happy with the sizing.

All around great shorts, I have to say these are some of the best workout shorts I've had in a long time. The lining is soft enough is doesn't chafe on long runs or extended work out, the shorts themselves do a go job wicking away moisture and dry quickly if I add a swim into my routine. Will be buying these again and would recommend to anyone looking for a good pair of workout shorts.

I have these and the 8" shorts as well. This pair I use for running when the weather is hot. These have proved to be excellent running shorts. I appreciate that the liner is snug enough to keep everything in place when I run, unlike many other running shorts I have owned in the past. The rear zip pocket is perfect for me to keep a car key secure while I run. The side pocket is small (will not fit your phone) but I don't run with a phone anyway. I have used it to stuff my neck gaiter (aka buff) in when I am not wearing it, and it works great for that. My only complaint is that the elastic in the waist is a bit loose for my taste, and I prefer elastic over a drawstring. So, I replaced the drawstring with elastic shock cord and find that extremely comfortable.

Very technical, comfortable wait band, amazing liner keeping everything in place without itch or stink. REar pocket is deep, could hold phone, side pockets stetch mesh for car key/ear pod case... best part is on the drive home after a run I FORGOT I WAS WEARING SHORTS WITH A LINER. insanely comfortable. I immediately ordered another pair as well as two 150 tech tee's upon returning home. Well done SMARTWOOL!!!!!!

Used it on several runs and agree the pockets are way too small for any phone but are fine for keys or cards. Wish they had at least 1 front pocket. But, they fit well, really like the wool liner and find they don't run any warmer than other running shorts. Would not buy again until they have more functional pockets.

If you are looking for a solid hiking short that's relatively light weight, a little bit of water resistance from DWR, and a breathable merino wool liner, this is your short.
If you are looking for a Smartwool running short, you will likely not be as big a fan of these.
They seemed like they would make a solid trail running short, but the outer short is just too thick. The DWR coating gives it a stiffness that I just don't like in my running shorts.
Smartwool made a solid general hiking / active wear short. But I wouldn't work out in them. They just don't breath well enough.
