Love these sneakshave bunions(dang) and need a nice wide comfy shoe..play a lot of pickleball and these have held up great..plus walk an average of 4-5 miles a day exercising myself and my labs..I will buy another pair or 2 even incase they discontinue!

Amazing shoe
Fit support your feet will be happy
Only problem is the mesh on the toe area kept deteriorating making a hole
Solution would be to run the toe protector area back enough to clear toe.
My favorite shoe

Trail running, multiday backpacking trips, hikes. These shoes are super comfortable and work well in a variety of conditions. They drain water much more quickly than any other trail shoe I've owned. They felt broken in right away. Love the wide front fit and ability to tighten down the heel keeping blisters away. Only things that aren't great - does seem to lack good traction on slick surfaces (like wet rocks) and I found more dust/trail dirt accumulated at my heels than other Altra trail shoes. Overall big improvement on the timp 3, which I really liked.

I've got 173 trail miles on a pair, 40 of which were in the AZ desert at the Javelina race last month. I liked the Timp 1's, the 2's were far too narrow for me, and an Altra rep suggested I try the 4 as fit had been altered a bit yet again. I really like them. I like the ego max foam, I think they're more comfortable than the Olympus' that I found to be hard and not cushy. They've held up well for me so far (230 pounds) and I haven't had any issues with blown out seams or damages. I purchased a second pair for later laps at the Javelina race and they're doing just as well. I do feel like more desert sand made its way in between my feet and the insole due to the drainage holes, but I intend to plug them with some silicon and see if that's actually what happened or if my gaiters need to be replaced. Quite fond of the orange color too, I may not be fast, but I can pretend I look fast!

This was the first time I tried the Timp. I've had the Lone peak before and put a solid 500 mils on them before I started looking for new ones. I prefer a lower arch, usually using zero drop, but most lower profile shoes only last me a couple of months, as I average 60-100 miles a week, depending on my training. However, these were very durable, taking 500 miles of seriously tough trail before the tread became too worn to wear. The drains re a brilliant idea. I was highly skeptical at first, as I doubted they would be very functional. however, I could run right through streams during a trail run and within a few steps on the bank, the shoes would drain the water rather than hold it, saving me the typical weight of a soaked shoe.
The biggest issues with the shoes were, for one, the mesh covering over the drains on the side shredded almost immediately, within the first week. That material is not ideal for trail terrain. Second, the tongue of the shoe slides to the side, creating an uneven feel. If I didn't stop ever four or five miles to readjust it, I'd get shooting pain along the top of my foot from the disproportioned support. And lastly, the material of the shoe itself ripped after about 10 weeks, the seam along the inside of the shoe. Honestly, I kept running in them for a good month longer without noticing much difference, but a little more durability would be a huge benefit.
All in all, I absolutely love Altras. As an ultra-runner, I am a bit of a shoe fanatic and there is no other brand that has satisfied me as Altras do. Nothing else hugs my foot quite like these. I just ordered the Superiors. I have never tried them before, but I am excited to compare. Thank you, Altra, for your dedication to making high quality footwear for trail runners, as that is a category so many other brands dare not attempt.

Fits like a glove, wide in toe box, snugger in heal, good lock down on foot, but not real severe - just right, great cushioning, soft as a cloud, and easy to walk in....makes me want to walk all day.

I've been running in Lone Peaks for years and decided to make a switch to the TIMP, couldn't be happier. The extra cushion is fantastic. Tread is not as aggressive, but is still sufficient.

Comfy from the get go and no need to wear in. Ran one warm up run before deploying on the blue ridge relay. It performed outstanding in grueling rain over a nasty gravel trail. Well done Altra!

At about 100 miles on them including a very rugged technical trail race. Barely any signs of wear. The drainage and drying is truly amazing.

The TIMP 4 is my go to shoe for really any distance while training. The improved traction and heel are amazing. This version is more durable and vents well! FIRE UP!

Best trail shoe I have ever owned. I needed more cushion than the lone peak provided and less overall shoe than the Olympus. These are amazing.

Altra nailed it! Best Timp ever. More underfoot protection, with great foot lock down. Altra, please don't mess with this latest iteration of the Timp.

I knew this shoe was going to be great but WOW! The cushion hits that sweet spot between having enough to fly down the trail but not so much that you feel unstable making running downhill an absolute blast. It was The upper has an awesome dialed-in fit while still giving my toes the room they need to splay allowing the shoes to handle winding switchbacks like a champ. I'd still reach for my Lone Peaks for the more grounded feel when I'm hitting more technical trails but the Timp may be my new go-to shoe for general trail cruising.

I have been in love with the Timps ever since I first tried on the Timp 2.0's. However, the Timp 2.0's used to fail on the outer sidewall after 400 km, a major flaw. Altra fixed this with a redesigned sidewall and upper in the Timp 3.0, however, the upper used to separate from the sidewall fabric after about 100-200 km (shoe was still structurally sound until 700-800 km with some shoe glue). In the Timp 4.0, Altra has fully addressed these issues. They have the redesigned sidewall that failed on the 2.0's and have removed the upper material that failed on the 3.0's. The outer sole is extremely grippy, and the shoe feels comfortable and slick. The tongue wraps around your ankle for a comfortable fit, and the shoe feels light and fast. I can't wait to use these on race day

I feel this is the best Timp to date! The 3 was too low volume and a tad short. The 4 fixed both of those issues, however I'm still able to lock down the mid foot for the steep descents. It feels like much more cushion than previous models, but not overwhelming, and more so a blessing on rocky terrain. And the color ways are FIRE!

I was a huge fan of the original Timp and 1.5. I really love the new 4s. The cushion is great and the tread seems super grippy. I wore them right out the box for a 17-mile trail run and they were great!! I'm really not sure what model I'll wear for my 100 in October...I love the Olympus, Mont Blanc and the Timps!

Very happy with the improvements over the 3. More cushioned ride while still providing a locked in feel. I ordered my standard 9 foot size, didn't need to up or downsize. The grip is very aggressive and stable, which I need when climbing rocks and obstacles. The new drainage holes keep the shoe from getting heavy when I run through creeks and rivers. Seems very durable, I'm several races in and I see no wear on the shoe besides mud stains.

As a lover of the Timp line, this is my favorite version yet. The upper is breathable, protective, and keeps out debris. The EGOMax midsole is perfect, if you like the Torin you'll like these! The outsole is super grippy and offers plenty of stability on the trail.

I've worn every version and this one is the best. Sizing is right, width is good, lockdown and cushioning is great. I've worn on hard trails, grass, mud and rain and all worked out. I would not use as a road shoe. The comments about bad quality, I just don't see that. I have two pair, rotate and keep clean after each run and they look like new. Altra, don't mess this one up by listening to those comments about too narrow. It's great as it is.
