Everyday use or hiking, it does everything it says it will, keeps feet dry, incredibly comfortable and breathable.

I bought these shoes about 3 weeks ago for work. I work outside a lot and working outside weather can be a problem. These shoes definitely keep the water out and as long as you're wearing appropriate socks, your feet will stay warm. The traction is also very good.

Good for anything. I mostly wear it for work and the waterproofing is really nice. Comfortable for all day.

Love the rugged look and color options provided for this shoe. Great for hiking...

So comfy shoes. Thought they had auto laces but the regular laces are fine. Just need to tie a bow every now and again

I got the X Ultra Pioneer Waterproof hiking shoes as a gift for my birthday, it is my first encounter with Salomon hiking shoes, as I have always been on the North Face side. The X Ultra Pioneer are nice looking (Olive night/Castor gray), efficient, came with the right size, good ankle support, and definitely do the job on tougher terrains. The best part: the laces. They don't untie themselves easily which is a good thing when hiking. A minor issue: the weight (390 grams), they feel a little bit heavy.

I have multiple pairs of this shoe and love them. However, they do not have the speed laces anymore...I will be exchanging them for a show that does.

I have been buying Salomon trail runners, hiking shoes or general shoes for years. This is the first set I'm disappoint in. They are used as my daily shoes working in computers. I've had them just about a year now, and they are finished. They were much hotter then my previous gortex models, do not breath well at all, i have had to treat them several times for smell. The laces do not stay tied, I must do them up 6 to 7 times a day. They have warn flat, they have lost all the support they once had, and look like dead running shoes now. I'm going back to a hybrid trail runner instead, much better for my purposes. They fit narrow at the toes and sloppy in the heal.

I discovered these while looking for a replacement for the XA Pro 3D. I've worn out several pairs of those and loved them but the latest model is garbage. Even though the XA is billed as a runner and these as a hiker, they make an adequate, if not perfect, replacement.

These are my first pair of Salomon shoes and as someone who is not a runner or shoe connisuer, I can only offer my personal experience with the shoe. To me, they have a decent finish quality but are much less comfortable than what the price would demand. The "insoles" are an deli-meat-thin slip of foam. The shoe itself hasn't really broken in after a month of wearing it and feels incredible stiff. I also had an expectation that these shoes would be lighter than some of my other work shoes but they are not. They have great tread on dirt and grass and dry pavement but are seriously slippery if you go indoors on to tile or other hard surface flooring like lvt or vct. I had high expectations and am still hopeful these will break in and loosen up without also falling apart. For now, they perform okay and their durability seems to be okay and their waterproofing seems okay. Unfortunately at this price point I wanted shoes that were better than "okay". I will not likely purchase another pair of Salomon shoes.

Bought these before seeing the review about the narrow toes and wide heels. Out of the box it was clear to me that is, indeed, the case. Fortunately, having only tried them on I CAN return easily.

I purchase these to replace the Outline Gore Tex line of hiking shoe. Too bad they discontinued these, they were vantastic. The ultra pioneer is a clunky boot, not a shoe. Every time I wear them this comes to mind.

First purchased an 8-1/2 , going by the exact measuring guidelines from SALOMON . WRONG. Too long. Second purchase, went down to an 8. WRONG again , a little short which I could live with , but they were NARROW. No happy fit . I gave it two tries but will not again. Purchased SCARPA

I got these shoes yesterday and 3 of the loops that hold the laces in places have already broken. They broke while I was trying to tighten the laces. I probably walked 1/4 of a mile in these before they fell apart. Don't waste your money.

I purchased a pair of these in March and they already separated at the side near the arch. I spent a good bit on these and not too happy about the product.
