My husband and I both purchased these jackets last year for a trip to Antarctica. We wore them everyday with light layers. Kept us warm for our excursions on land and in zodiacs zipping around from iceberg to iceberg. The attached picture demonstrates how the jacket might be used to comfort an injured barred owl found at a wildlife refuge. While waiting for the ranger, the owl began to shiver, so the ultralight jacket was used as a blanket. The owl stopped shivering within a few minutes. The owl was checked by a biologist and sent to recover at an owl rehab center.

It can probably be compressed into a small bag if needed. If it's below freezing, I usually add an extra fleece inside. The inside pocket is large enough to fit my entire wallet which is about 6 inches. For reference, I am 5'2" and 170 lbs. I purchased a XL petite.

Super lightweight! Based on other reviews I ordered it in small, but it was HUGE! I normally wear a small (I’m 5’4). I’m exchanging it for an XS.

I have ordered 3 different colors of this jacket. The representation of the inside lining colors is limited and the only visual of the coat is pictured zipped up. From what I could discern from the photo, I hoped the blue color would be concealed at the back, so I ultimately ordered the sugarplum and loved that color... until I unzipped the coat to find the entire inside of the coat lined with this neon like blue which ruins the look of the jacket and does nothing to complement the main color. If you want something other than black or navy...buyer beware...no choice or rational on how the stylists choose these awful color combinations! it will be a surprise! Sending it back...

Please bring back the old sizing on this jacket. The petite large is too big and the petite medium is too small. I have been buying LL Bean coats and jackets for many years and always ordered the petite large which fit me perfectly until now.

I bought this for a work trip and didnt want to bring a big bulky coat but wanted to stay warm. This was the perfect choice. It rolled up nicely in my suitcase and kept me very warm. This is my new must have for travel.

This jacket is so warm. I absolutely love it. I have never had a jacket that kept me so comfortable. It even held up in the blizzard today! From now on I will only wear winter coats from LL Bean!!!

I now have 2 of these jackets and I know they are pricey but I absolutely love them. They are my go to everyday jacket during cold weather. They are warm and lightweight which make them very easy to drive in and perform outside activities throughout my day. I am 5'5", 170lbs and I have a large for everyday wear that is great over a long sleeve T-shirt or sweater. I also have an XL that I wear when I'm going to be outside for an extended period of time, which adds a little more room for wearing over a hoodie when I'm layering.

The Ultralight 850 is a really great jacket - kept me warm in 20 degree cold - feels very lightweight - the hood is warming & doesn't fall down over my face!! I love it!!!

I really love my new jacket. The fit is perfect! I like the fact that LLBean mediums are size 10-12 it means i can wear a sweater or mid-layer under it comfortably. I got the green color and it is beautiful!! The quality is excellent, made so well and love the rip stop nylon material and lots of pockets inside and out!!

This is my second purchase of this type coat. It is so light weight and easily fits in my suitcase for a just in case. I love the zippered pockets which easily hold my large size iPhone. Even in freezing temps, it keeps the cold at bay. I love it!

I had ordered two different jackets from another company didn't like them. Tried a newer style from LL bean it was very true to size and I didn't feel comfortable with it and a sweatshirt. Turned to this jacket and this was the golden jacket.

This jacket is very soft and comfortable. I love the fabric. I like the soft brim around the hood which stays around your face without collapsing over your eyes like elastic brims. Nice quality zippers. I use the pocket zippers to help me keep from losing my gloves. I like the color. I was looking for a green jacket.

This is my second Ultralight 850 jacket, My other one doesnt have a hood. Love both of them, so light but so warm!

The jacket is lightweight, warm and fits well. Since I wear a fleece or a sweater under jacket, I went up a size for a roomier fit. The thyme color is really nice!
