Good jacket, but I prefer the older Rugged Ridge jacket I had. Both jackets are similar, with the new jacket being less bulkier, but still warm. What I prefer about the old one was that it had 4 pockets on the front flaps, instead of the current 2. What I really liked about the old jacket was that it had 2 large fine mesh pockets on the inside of the front of the jacket which were perfect for storing a pair of big winter gloves (one on each side). The current jacket only has 1 large fine mesh pocket on the right side and does not have one on the left side like the old jacket. When you put 2 large winter gloves in the only large fine mesh pocket on the right side it makes for a large uncomfortable lump on the right side when the jacket is zippped up.

This was a Christmas for my husband. It looks really well made and warm. He really liking the detachable hood. It was sent back as he felt it was to bulky, (too big) for him. This is rated as a 4 as he did not keep it.

This coat kept me completely comfortable while working outdoors on the coldest NHL hockey game in history, the Minnesota Winter Classic at Target Field. Yet for all the superior insulating value that it offers, It's incredibly lightweight and not at all bulky. The hood functioned better than that on any previous coat. The soft inner collar lining is a nice touch. It has a large number of voluminous, well placed and entirely useful pockets. The fabric inside the arms is very silky, allowing one to easily slide one's shirt sleeves in & out. The only downside in the lower zipper pull. When pulled up on its own, it manages to always gets caught up on the inner fabric. The somewhat inconvenient solution is to always use the upper & lower zipper pulls together, which alleviates the catching issue. Overall, well worth the cost.

Very nice jacket - an excellent fit at size L. Normally I wear XL. The zipper will take some getting used to as it doesn't seem to function flawlessly. I really contemplated buying a 3 in 1 kind of ski jacket to be able to use the liner only in warmer weather, but I have so many light - medium weight jackets all ready, and I really wanted something for only the coldest days. I am hoping this meets my expectations. With a New England winter fast approaching I will find out soon enough.

This is exceptionally warm. I like that I can zip on/off the hood. My only issue with this jacket is that I can feel the waist draw strings with plastic adjusters on the interior which can be uncomfortable since they did not add anything to cover those hard plastic draw adjusters which are located more in front rather than on the sides. I don't feel those when layering. Water and windproof for the coldest days of Maine weather.

Runs a little large. It is very warm and seems well made. Not fussy, good features but not a lot of extras.

Windproof but recommend a sweater for extra warmth. Seems to hold up adequately has only been two weeks of moderate to cold weather

It's a great jacket; warm, and slips easily on and off arthritic shoulders. The only downside is that the zipper tabs are smallish and difficult for arthritic hands to manage.

Purchased an XL, but this product seems to run very large. It was quite boxy and looked a bit frumpy on me. Gave 4 stars because the hood is really big, most likely made for a ski helmet, which would be fine, but I will never ski and find it to be unusable. Overall, the rest of the jacket looks fantastic and would be an amazing warm coat had it fit me better.

Great. Wish the zipper were metal, but otherwise it does what I need it to.

Fabric seems very shiny and rather slippery compared to older jacket of similar style. Fit is a little snug for size. Overall well styled, however.

I like this coat, its color, fit and appearance as very close to expected. The hardware (zipper) seems robust (a concern I have about some manufacturers). I believe it is categorized as "warmest", if so it falls a little short of that claim. I'll keep it, goodness knows Michigan has appropriate weather for any coat.

This jacket is superb in many respects: looks, fit, water and wind proofing. It is quite warm but not as warm as the catalogue suggests. Pockets are not insulated. The zipper can be quite difficult. I would give it an A-

I have had several of these and they generally last me about 2 years...max. The weak part of these is the zipper. It is too light duty. Needs to be a heavy duty type. Otherwise, is a great jacket for waterproof and warmth. Just right amount of pockets inside and out.

This is proving to be a great coat. We hike with our dogs and temps can sometimes be 15 degrees or lower (we don't often take them when it's below 20). It has lots of pockets for treats, gloves, phone, remotes, and anything else we want to carry. He's comfortable with a turtleneck or light sweater underneath.

Initially purchased a medium for my husband, but it was unexpectedly too large. Returned it for a small which fit good. He feels it's warm enough so far but hasn't been tested for really cold temperatures yet. His only other complaint is that the zipper is tricky and harder to work with than other jackets he's had.

I thought $199 was too expensive. The 20% offer and free shipping promotion brought the price down to $160, which was acceptable. Coat generally is great. The outside pockets are a shortcoming. It has only the side cut bottom pockets; no upper hand pockets. I like to have lower bag bag pockets and upper ones to slide hands into. There is also a small glitch with the zipper. Once it's zipped up, the lower zipper can be used to open the bottom for sitting, such as while driving. The bottom zipper snags on the lining and presents a challenge to pull up to the level desired.

I am now into my second winter wearing this coat. It's excellent! Well-made and keeps me warm both while hiking or just outdoor social distancing. The only minor quirk is that the zipper can sometimes be a bit temperamental, taking several tries to get it to engage. Though just personal preference, I would have loved to see this same coat in a waist-length model.

Very snug and well made. Definitely keeps you warm I like the way the hood snaps and extra velcro for closure. i do NOT like the zipper as it is extremely difficult to go up on its own. Also having a second zipper is totally useless for me. Overall I would still recommend this as a good winter coat.

It's supposed to be 20% lighter and just as warm as before. I bought one of these many years ago and just now bought this replacement. It is lighter but it is definitely not as warm. I really do have to wear a sweater as a liner to be comfortable on the colder days. It should come with its own liner.

I'd rate it at 4.5. The only item I could have gone without is the velcro strip down the front protecting the zipper. Not a big fan of velcro but I understand it helps seal the jacket around the zipper.
