I wanted a light weight parka that I could use for most days when it is between 20 to 40 degrees. I wanted something that was easy to get on and off, yet would keep me warm and dry. The Ridge Parka met my expectations. It is a simple parka that does its job. It is roomy enough to have other layers beneath it. The pockets all make sense. It fits well. Very happy with it. Is a very good value. I recommend it.

This parka replaces one I purchased from LL Bean 20 years ago. This one appears to be as high quality in materials and workmanship. I like the number and size of the pockets. Water repellancy is excellent , and it is very warm. All in all,a great product.

Rugged Ridge Parka - Blue and Black. I was looking for an insulated coat to wear with minimal layering, for central PA winters. I looked at a lot of different coats but kept coming back to Bean for their selection and warmth ratings. I selected the Rigged Ridge Parka for it's warmth rating, customer reviews, and color choice. When I got the coat it came exactly as described, was a perfect fit with enough room for a thermal layer for the severest weather. The sleeves are a good length, the hood is generous without being overly large, and the weight is fairly minimal. The colors are sharp, and the drawstrings around the waste and hem allow for customizing the fit to your needs. Since it arrived we've had days in the high 30s (F) and some nights in the high teens. I find that for any of the temperatures in that range, if I'm moving around briskly then all I need is the coat over my regular clothes. But if I'm standing around, or if it's windy or precipitating them I prefer another insulating layer with it. In my case one of those light down vests works perfectly for that without my feeling too bulked up. We had a couple of nasty nights with a wet, driving rain and I have to say that the coat came through with flying colors. I remained toasty and dry while walking my dog for 45 minutes. So all in all a great coat, well worth the money I paid, and one that I expect to have for years. I highly recommend this one.

Gave this as a gift. My son texted me that he was outside in below freezing temps. Said he never felt cold! And very attractive.

We have a difficult time buying nice quality coats for my 6'4" husband. This jacket fit the bill! He likes the length and the overall style - not too thick. He also likes that this jacket doesn't have a zip out lining. He was very happy with this purchase!

Perfect for my current lifestyle. Not as athletic as in the past (74 yrs old) consequently the fixed insulation is great. Fits well and has proven waterproof. Typically LL Bean....better than expected.

My last LL Bean parka of this type lasted more than 20 years - only thing had to do was replace zipper two years ago. It's still usable but the replacement zipper I had done locally and it failed. The new coat is light, toasty warm for a northeastern US winter, and looks great. Recommend it 100 percent.

I have had several of this exact style jacket the past 25 years and is my all time favorite. Great wind and rain and cold protection. All the right pockets inside and outside. I always have another lighter jacket underneath for maximum warmth. No complaints.

My first purchase at an LL Bean retail store (Oak Brook, IL) during its grand opening. Needed a new winter coat and tried this one on, on a whim. This coat delivers everything it promises at a good price. Quite warm, without the bulk of other coats, plus good styling. It keeps getting better and better as I wear it.

In Buffalo, NY, we take our winter gear seriously. You can always count on LL Bean to provide the finest quality products. This is the third Rugged Rigid Parka that I have purchased. The coat lives up to it's reputation to keep me warm on cold, windy days. With the zipper up, the collar wraps tightly around my neck to keep out the wind. They have improved the hood from their last design and it is now more functional. The zipper seems very smooth and easy to use. I would recommend this coat for anyone living in a cold climate.

I was concerned if the coat would keep me warm because it was so light. But true to the description it keeps me warm when the wind is blowing and cold out. I am very pleased with the purchase.

Used the size chart to figure out the correct size, worked out very well. First thing I noticed was the great wind protection and added warmth from my previous LL parka. Parka is used daily to and from work that includes routine 2 mile walk from parking to office in a typical Wisconsin winter. Good value for the price.

I bought my first one 14 years ago and wore it every day for 6-7 months. It lasted for 7 years. I bought my second and did the same. It lasted 7 years. Just bought my third. Will be back in 2025. If something is used this often and lasts 7 years, it's a bargain at twice the price.

This purchase was to replace an old LE parka that had worn out. The fit of this one is good - slightly on the large side which is just right. I can comfortably wear a 2-3 layers with this parka -- thick swearshirt/hoodie or sportcoat both go comfortably inside. Been wearing it in early winter in alaska - very good for the range of 0-30F and imagine it would go colder with easy. internal cuffs in the sleeves and a snug neck when zipped up help keep warmth inside with your body. da

Not sure if the size was mismarked, but the large is HUGE like an extra large. Other than that, it's a very nice jacket and well made/super warm.

Wore this twice this winter on long walks, pair with fleece lined pants, on days at or near 5 degrees F. Even with wind at 20 mph, I was toasty. I used a mad bomber hat rather than the supplied hood, so I can't comment on the hood. Although the coat breathes, even at 5 degrees F I build a sweat up that condensed on the inside of the jacket, but not enough to cause a problem. I think I would have been comfortable well below 0.

Just what the doctor ordered for the 4 recent "north easter's" I lived through in Vermont and NYC (tough for a guy living in San Diego).

I originally purchased this item in Large/Tall and found it a little snug through the chest and shoulders. I exchanged it for an Extra Large which fit perfectly. The parka arrived in time to be put to the test. Windy with low single digit temperatures at night and mid-teens during the day. I stayed very comfortable and was very impressed with the wind protection. The weather then turned cold and wet...low to mid 30's with wind and rain. Again, I remained comfortable and dry. The parka is well made and the workmanship impeccable. All in all I am very pleased with this purchase...it has exceeded my expectations and I don't hesitate to recommend it.
