Good light weight pant. Belt is somewhat odd but overall functional.

Great pants, very comfortable all around. I would give 5 stars if only the length was longer as I have long legs (eg 35" inseam)

Review for Zappos VIP Points(What's this?)
These pants fit as expected. HOWEVER, the bright blue belt on khaki pants was a dealbreaker.

The bottom can be removed and then become a short. However, such a design makes it feels large

Based on reading prior reviews before purchasing, I knew what I was getting so I'm good with the purchase. That said, I wish Marmot still made the "original" version, of which I have two pair. Specifically, that version has belt loops and zipper bottoms for easy removal over shoes. The former made for a "dressier," more flexible where you can wear them look, while the latter is obvious and, as another reviewer wrote, I real head scratcher as to why Marmot abandoned.

These light-weight convertible pants are well-made and the different-colored zippers for each removable pant leg are brilliant, but they are missing zippers to go over boots and need deeper pockets. I don't understand why anyone makes convertible pants without a zipper on the lower leg portion for getting them over boots (or even shoes). Since these pants require me to take off my footwear if I want to go from pants to shorts or vice versa, I will only use them as travel pants instead of being able to use them on a hike with any kind of temperature swings. The hand pockets are also very shallow and very oddly shaped, so they don't securely hold my normal-sized cell phone. Weird. I'm 5'10", 150lbs. and the S/30 fits great.

Made with quality materials and sewn professionally. Size is accurate.
BUT: it seems that nobody actually wore these pants out in the world:
1) The two back pockets are useless. They need flaps or zippers, so the lightweight material does not just let wallets (for example) fall out (or be easily pick-pocketted). At leas velcro closures would help.
2) why not a zipper pocket on both legs.
My old Eastern Mountain Sports convertible pants have flaps on both back pockets with velcro closures. they have zipp-able pockets on both legs, and separate zippered compartments along the sides of those pockets, creating two secure pockets. That is how these pants should be designed.

Soon...I am going to do a full review of all the ways this new version of this pant that shares the name of an earlier version that was vastly superior. I have purchased this product over many years and they were my main everyday-wear pants. Marmot has done some big cost- (but not price-) saving and did not have the decency to just come up with a new name for these pants. Here are a few areas where the new version is
* Built-in belt with flimsy buckle and lack of belt loops
* Less material in the leg -- noticeably tighter on my cyclist's thighs
* Crotch gusset is no longer breathable mesh
* Pockets are shallower
* Zip-off legs no longer have size zipper for removing over boots
Marmot *used to be* one of those brands that I had confidence in. If they charged a lot for their product it was because a lot of effort went into the design and the customer experience was being valued. I no longer feel that way.
