Solid shoe that stands up to everyday use with minimal wear, even after a year. We liked it so much we sized up when our kid's feet grew.

My son (8) has wide feet and is extremely active; meaning he destroys shoes before he outgrows them! He wanted "tie" shoes this time around and since Merrell's last the longest of any shoe we e tried so far I got him a pair of these Altalights in 4W. He loves them, I'm happy they're wide enjoy for proper foot development and movement within rhe confines of a shoe. My only sticking point is the laces are slightly tough to tie - a bit slippery and not quite long enough for small fingers to fumble around .

So far so good. Not the laces you want to learn to tie your shoes as they are thin and not very long. We will see how long they last as my kids go through shoes.

Overall, they have held up alright as my son's daily school shoes. Soles still have tread after about 6 months. Plastic coating on lace tips broke off after about 1 month, leading to slightly frayed lace ends. Rubber/fabric elements seem to be wearing normally, without tears.

Bought them for a summer shoe for my son. They almost fit his wide feet, but i didn't really think they would be perfect. He complains about them being too hard, and the toe started coming off after our first adventure through the woods. They look great, and they are a good wide shoe for kids, but for the money other companies make a better product.

These are very well made but run very narrow in the toe and arch and overall length.

I have bought and returned these shoes 3 times since the beginning of January. The first and 3rd pair have the same problem, it's tight across the toes, so maybe they sent the first pair back. The second pair felt like a half size smaller. I don't know if Merrell makes a normal pair of these shoes, but I don't feel like buying and returning them all.

Just bought these for my son and he finds them very comfortable, but they do not breath well at all. He's worn them maybe 5 times and they stink terribly already. Never had this problem with other shoes, so it's not that he normally has stinky feet. Wondering if they're waterproof. Doesn't say so in the description and I wouldn't have bought them if they were waterproof because I know those don't breath well. Usually love Merrill shoes, but very disappointed in this product.
