I should have listened to the many comments that said to order a half-size up from what you normally wear. I had to return the first pair ordered to go up a half size. Second pair is comfortable so far!

I wear 7 M in all shoes but based on reviews and Zappos’ recommendation I ordered 7 1/2 M. They were OK but not great in length and too wide even with socks. My foot slid side to side much too easily, something I don’t want while hiking. Outside of the width issue the shoe felt sturdy and had fairly good arch support.

This shoe is for someone with a LOT of volume in their feet. I have wide toe, narrow heel. I tried tightening the laces but it's still too wide. In addition, there's no cushioning in this shoe. I would return it but I've already worn it outside. I thought I could make it work but sadly, I'm stuck with it. I plan to bring it to my local consignment shop and hopefully recap a tiny portion of what I paid. If you have a LOT of volume in your foot, or have a wide foot and don't mind a very hard sole with no cushioning, this may work well for you.

I had to size down a 1/2 size from my usual size because these run large. The size 5 is a perfect fit. They’re comfortable and well made. And I love the color: cream and light brown.

These appear to be great low hikers and most importantly, I can put my own insole in the shoe. They don't look clunky and feel great when walking.

I like the solid shoes but dislike the insoles that are too rough. There is not even a slight cushion on the insoles.

These were comfortable right out of the box. I did order a 1/2 size up but would probably been ok with my normal size. The toe box is roomy enough for my feet to have plenty of room even with thick socks. The older I get, the more oddly shaped my feet become and they are not easy to keep happy but these Merrell's are great. I definitely recommend them!

Wow! Another great Merrell shoe purchased in a dreamy yellow and in rugged shades of brown. This hiking shoe is very comfortable shoe with more internal padding than the Siren style. Yellow will be for guided tour travel trips. The brown pair may suit initially for vacations with lots of hiking and then transferred into work shoe for cutting grass. Very nice deeply patterned Vibrant tread is very durable. The round shoestrings may need to be double knotted to stay tied. I like that this style is not waterproof. Moab 3 is similar to a style of Keen leather & synthetic shoes with round shoe laces which lasted for many years but seem to be unavailable now. Thanks Merrell!
I'd also recommend:

I love these shoes, have been wearing them for a few Moab generations. I normally wear a 7.5 but wear a 7 in these. In the summer I wear the low, non waterproof version, in the winter the ankle high, Gor-Tex version. They are supportive and great traction. I have a high instep and they are supportive and have sufficient gusset and lacing to comfortably and completely cover the top of my feet.

Best hiking shoe for me. I spend alot of time traveling to hike. Last minute I needed a new pair of hiking shoes. I reviews said no need to break them in. These shoes were comfortable from the 1st time I hiked in them. Would definitely purchase again!

Bought these for a hiking/bouldering trip to replace my last Merrells. They were comfortable, did not overheat in the desert 100 degrees, good grip.

These hiking shoes are so comfortable! They might be not be the cutest hiking shoes I have, but they are my favorite. They are true to size, sturdy, and does the job well.

The "Merrell Moab 3" were fabulous. I took them with me to Scotland where I wore them most days for our walking and walking on cobblestone and streets and sidewalks. I wore them for several hikes that were graded as "medium" difficulty. I did not have time to break them in before we left because of difficulty finding the right size. These shoes were fabulous. Comfortable, good traction, good support, and did I say comfortable? I also wore them on both international flights; I take my shoes off mid-flight, but they were the most comfortable shoes to wear in the airport, and I had several days of delays and hours walking in the airport because I tried to fly on the day of the global internet crash. I tend to over-pronate, and these held my food in a great position without too much arch support. They were not heavy. I would wear Birkenstock sandals every day if I could, but now? I have a shoe to wear when sandals are not an appropriate option. The Merell Moab 3s were better than any sneakers. Note: I also tried the Alverstones, and I found the footbed in the Moab 3 to be a little wider.

The first day was a walking tour through a vineyard. There was dirt, cover crop and uneven ground. The second day was an offroad tour in my Raptor R. It was a super technical boulder crawling adventure that required frequent trips walking to select the best line through the boulders. My MERRELLS performed flawlessly on both occasions. Lots of ankle support and traction(:-)

Best hiking shoes I have ever worn. Bought them to wear hiking in Norway. I did wear them a couple of days before I left just to make sure they were comfortable - and they were/are. I wore them on several 10k hikes (very hilly and slippery conditions). So comfortable! I even wore them through all of the airports! I would highly recommend them.

My foot measures 9.5 very wide, since I am doing a lot of hiking I sized up to 10 wide to accommodate wool hiking socks but the shoe was too short so I swapped for a 10.5 and that feels about right. Haven't taken them out for a walk yet, but so far I think they will work well. They feel a bit heavy but that is the trade off for having such great support. I suggest you order about one full size up.

These are just about everything i could have wished for. Great support, excellent true to size fit. No real break in period needed for me. Nothing rubs or squeezes. Love these shoes. My only wish would be for better color choices. But hey, they are for hiking so i will let the bears do their fashion critique their way.
I'd also recommend:

Fit is perfect. Style is your typical hiking shoe. Frankly, these were the coolest I could find. But you can't beat the comfort.

Bought these shoes for a hiking trip in May. Put these on right out of the box. I'm a size 5 but because I wear inserts, I went a 1/2 size up. I am medium width but as I get older, I have been looking for rounded toe box. I didn't even put my inserts in and felt the shoe was very cushiony with plenty of room for the toes. The arch felt comfortable also. I wore them for about 3-4 hours without a hitch. These are Merrell's and I am never disappointed with the quality. Definitely a great purchase.
