I enjoyed many pairs of Moab 2 but since they seemed to be replaced by the Moab 3 I figured I had to get them as well. Overall it's the same shoe minus the heel cup being more loose and maybe smaller so that is doesn't stay on my foot in the back even with longer/thicker socks.
I'd also recommend:
Keen and Oboz

Great shoe. Own four pair of Merrel's, this style is already my favorite. Fits great, a really comfortable shoe.

Have worn Merrill Moabs exclusively for years and love them. Had foot pain before but not since starting wearing the Wides. Recommend them frequently.

Stiff fit, jams front toe sizing seems small. Not my favorite shoe, recommend keen or oboz.

Fourth pair of Merrells. Always fit perfectly out of the box. Durable, comfortable, and waterproof. My go to hiking shoe for years now. Great value also.

really nice shoes. This is my 4th pair. They last really well for trails and walking. I use Tread Labs insoles for over pronation and they work great.

Great arch support. These feel true to size. I’m breaking them in and so far they feel really comfortable. I would buy these again.

I would have given this review 5 stars because I'm a big fan of Merrell shoes, but when I purchased my second pair, it came with shorter laces. It's not the end of the world because I can still do the double knot so they don't loosen and become untie while walking, but the shorter laces makes it more difficult to do the double knot. My first pair came with longer (regular size) laces making it much easier to do the double knot - and yes, you have to do a double knot if you don't want them to become untied half a mile into your walk.

These have been my shoes for the last ten years or so(I am on my sixth pair). They are comfortable and durable. When this new pair wears out it will be time for number seven.

I have owned many pair of Merrells. Ventilators, Moab3s etc. But, this style is still my favorite. Fit great right out of the box. I wear them everywhere. Thank you Merrell for another quality product.

The walnut colored Moab 3 as advertised does not match what was delivered. I was told by customer service that the light background in the advertisements caused the shoe to look a different color. I was very disappointed.

Bottom line up front: To be as comfrotable as the moab 2, Merrel needs to move back to the Moab 2's insole (Kinetic Fit Advanced Footbed) and slightly soften the mid sole. Pros of the Moab 3: It's a good boot that's supportive and fits well. It's grippy and relatively light for a hiking boot. Cons of the Moab 3: -> The insole is much worse in the Moab 3 than in the Moab 2. The 2 had a pressed and perforated EVA insole that was very responsive and stayed springy for years of use. The 3 has a blue metatarsal pad which is inlayed into the insole. This portion of the insole is very, very unresponsive and lacks the same amount of cushion and responsiveness as the 2's forefoot insole. After a single day of use, the blue areas on the insole are flat and have no spring. The result is a fit that feels like i'm walking on a hard surface. In my attached images, I've applied roughly the same pressure to the front of the insert to demonstrate how the Moab 3's insert is very flimsy at the forefoot. The older insole is much more sturdy and spongey in the same area. You can purchase the same kinetic fit insoles as the Moab 2's for extra, but only in whole sizes :( -> The midsole is stiffer than the Moab 2, and this contributes to the pressure at the heel and the forefoot. Both of these means the forefoot experiences a ton more pressure and feels much stiffer and less comfortable after walking out of the store. It's more uncomfortable to stand for hours or walk for miles, and it feels like I'm closer to injury at any given point than with the Moab 2.

Fourth pair of Moab s . Two pair women but switched the mens do to my size 12 foot. Womens 12 cut just a tad short causing sore toes. Went to mens 11 which fit great, arch, support not to wide. Our group section hikes the AT - love these shoes !

Quality hiking shoe. Wish the design were the same as Moab 2 which doesn't feel as bulky. The waterproof feature is outstanding and the fit is always perfect but I only gave four stars because the shoe looks clunky to me while Moan 2 looks stylish as well as being functional.

I have worn nothing but Merrill Moab for the last 10-12 years and they have been fantastic. Oddly, this latest pair I bought is not as comfortable, even though they're all broken in now. By the end of a long day my feet hurt a bit. If I wear one of my old pairs everythings great. They are all the same size so Im not sure what the problem is

Good durable sole, however the mesh material on the inner step is stripping and pilling after 2 hike/runs. I can't return them, so I hope to heck they last despite the cheap and flawed mesh material.

These are great shoes for hiking in wet weather, but I really wish they carried 11 1/2 as the 11s run small and the 12s are too big!

Good grip on bigger rocks. They did give me a few hotspots, but i can attribute that to not breaking in completely. They are heavy shoes whoch afford protection but add to weight. Overall i like them!
