I'm 6 foot tall, weigh 150 lbs, and have a 30" waist: the number of men I've met my height that are skinnier than me I can count on one hand. The small is correct in terms of my height, but super tight around my waist, which just baffles me. The medium fits correctly around my waist but is long enough to look like a short dress. I really have no idea what's going on here. Shame, because it seems like a great sweater otherwise.

I bought this fleece henley because my son had one from years ago that is still "going strong". I usually wear a medium (med. to lge, depending on the cut), but I regularly buy a size large because I like the roomy feel. I own 4 thermal Henleys from Bean.
This shirt is about 2 inches narrower from the waist up to the chest, and is decidedly NOT a large, in that respect. Regrettably, I chalked up the bad reviews (usually read first) to people that may want to foist the responsibility for their own weight onto the bad design of an article of clothing. That was a mistake that I am paying $6.50 for, to return this sad thing. These shirts are a "slim" fit regardless, as a number of critics point out, and not at all like the older shirts. And decidedly NOT large. So ends quite a long relationship with LLBean, the company that wants almost 8% of the cost to return a poorly designed shirt. The company pays only lip service to customer complaints of poor quality control. Hey Bean, maybe pay a little less attention to what the non-USA manufacturers are saying, and more to what your customers are telling you, but for me, just goodbye doesn't quite say it...

I really liked the old fit much better than the newer cut. It is slim fit now and the medium is too small but large is too big. These used to be my favorite winter shirts.

I have this in a medium from a couple of years ago. I recently ordered two more but now slim fit and too tight. I will try to size up to a large but the selections are limited in that size.

Sent back. Barely a wholesome fiber in the entire shirt. Mostly made of polyester which studies have shown that is not a healthy "fabric" for anyone to wear, especially those who have any breathing, or allergy issues. All natural real fleece is made from sheeps wool. Long ago, back in the day, fleece meant SHEEPS WOOL, NOT PLASTIC, NOT ACRYLIC, NOT TENCEL, NOT MODAL, NOT BAMBOO, ETC... Why has it come to this? Real fleece is better for the sheep, the people, and the planet. Save the planet and get rid of petroleum-based products, please.

These shirts looked and sounded great, so i ordered four of them as a gift. I was horrified to see that after washing and drying - according to the instructions - every single shirt collar pilled and the the stitching around the collar frayed. Before they were even worn, the shirts looked like they were ready for replacement. At the $80+ price EACH, these were a huge disappointment qand immediately returned for refund.

I have had years of satisfaction with L. L. Bean products, but this garment just doesn't cut it. It is made with such a heave fabric that the material has a life of its own. There is no "body-drape" with this material. It is too stiff, too heavy and not at all suitable for a typical Henley shirt. The collar, (where the buttons are on the front), is so rigid and stiff that it will not lay slightly open, even with all the buttons unbuttoned. When one wears it, it looks like a movie body suit meant to bulk up a body in all the wrong ways. I'd avoid this garment. There is just too much sacrificed for the sake of "warmth."

Although lined with fleece, the shirt is not warm. The metal snaps are bulky. After a few washes, the fabric is pilling, a deal breaker.
