We've been married almost 50 yrs, and he's had these chamois shirts for most of that time. The telling sign for the need for new ones is the elbows coming through the sleeves! When does he use them? Raking leaves, pruning shrubs, moving dirt, going to the dump, watching football at home ... newer ones (2 in the last month) make it to the grocery store, visiting family and friends, and watching football games at home. LL Bean chamois shirts and leather flannel-lined slippers will always be part of husband's wardrobe! Cons: why aren't chamois shirts available for women and children?!

I'll be brief....I ADORE this shirt. I'd wear it everyday if my wife would let me. I have it in the gunmetal grey color that looks awesome with jeans. In fall, its the perfect light jacket. In winter, with a T-shirt underneath, keeps me nice & warm. It wears like iron.

I have a couple of these shirts that are over 10 years old and if anything, the new ones may actually be heavier than the older versions which actually surprised me. They are a little bigger than true to size but for a shirt like this, it gives room for layering. The flannel is soft, heavyweight and the shirt is put together well.

I own this shirt in 4 colors and love them. The feel, the fit, the colors are just fine. I did manage to actually wear out a chamois shirt but it took about 13 years. I will always buy them.

Gorgeous shirt! Thick flannel, as you'd expect in a chamois shirt. The saddle color is in the range of colors my husband likes. The sizing is larger than customary. I ordered this shirt as a Christmas gift for him, but had to ask him to try it on early after seeing reviews about the sizing. I'm glad I did. It overlapped his chest by 6 to 8 inches! He is a middle-sized XL guy, not thin, not big. He really likes the shirt, so we are returning it for a L. Fingers crossed that size works. If you can find the size that works, you will like the quality.

Great shirt very comfortable and sizing is right on. I get three years out of these shirts so the cost is very affordable

Tightly woven, keeps the wind out and is perfect for fall wear.

After the old outdoor store I bought this style shirt was purchased by another outdoor store and no longer carried good heavy flannel shirts, I was looking for a replacement and tried a few different places. These shirts hit a home run. Comfortable, heavy weight material. Perfectly replaced my old store. I will buy more

My husband has 3 of these shirts. Wears them mainly for "dressed up casual" with jeans. They always look great. Warm, soft. He has grey, the chamois color & now this new dark(army) green. I have never dried them on anything other than low-medium & then usually take it out of the drier before its bone dry. Very happy with these shirts. Fit him well.

very nice shirt ,but way to large. gave to my grandson who is about 6 ' 2 and weighs about 230

Got the grey xl tall last Xmas. Had not faded out. Needed tall size because I'm 6 3 with a tall upper body. Adequate in chest and shoulders. Wish it was tapered in waist better, (34 waist) for guys with a dad body without the beer gut. I'll have to get another one, somebody liberated it from the locker room at the shop

It fits well and I love to wear it on cool mornings when a fleece or jacket would be too warm

with five in my closet, i obviously treasure these shirts for looks, warmth and protection; no one else's 'chamois shirt' comes close. however, despite your perennial writeup, they do not mellow with age, but eventually become less soft, supple and thick. one of them [horrors!] has worn at the cuff to where white fabric shows through. [ hmm....may i send it back?]

This shirt is all quality. Ever since I bought my first chamois shirt back in 79 I have never had a need for complaint. The quality remains the same. So I will continue to do my shopping at LL Bean.

Thick heavy flannel. Very soft. Quality made and didn't shrink after wash. Would purchase again without hesitation.

I bought this for the Los Gatos CA climate--chance of cool nights in the summer, cool to cold winter days & nights. It's a good layering shirt & washable (but I tend to air dry it). Also, indoors it helps keep the thermostat & PG&E bills down. Good color choices for layering. Everybody should have at least one of these shirts. Size L fits may 69 inch height, 155 lbs. weight.

I am retired now working part time from home, so no need to dress up. I like wearing a heavier shirt jacket with a colored T-shirt underneath. I have two previous shirts that are flannel lined (from Beans) and I decided I needed another one. After two tries at another vendor (fit way too small), I found this shirt and went into the local store to try it on. I normally get X-large these days, although the two previous shirts were large. Sure enough, the extra large was too big, so I got a large which is perfect. So, I could dis it for running larger than many, but i am completely happy with the end product. The shirt itself is of impeccable quality, and definitely a cold weather covering. Tempted to get one other in a different color...
