First pair of active/athletic footwear that didn't fit my 10.5 D sizinglonger and wider than 'standard'..aside from that a quality ride and well ventilated with good luggy sole. And moisture will come through ventilation fabric. Good for dry/hot? not coastal Cali

Compared to a few other pairs of shoes I've bought in recent times, these shoes are good build quality but the fit may not be for everyone. I found that after experiencing some break-in issues, removing the insoles solved 90% of the comfort problem. I guess that my feet may not comply with the designers assumptions, in my case how the sides of my heels were wider than the shoe would accommodate. Not knocking the overall quality, but I found a pair of comparable New Balance and Merrell products to be easier on the break-in. We'll see how the durability holds up over time.

Weight of the shoes' sole can be reduced. It's heavy!

Not true to size. I would recommend the shoes to someone with narrow feet.

These shoes are incredibly comfortable and stable on trails. However if you do a lot of walking on paved surfaces, they will wear out very quickly. Keep to the trail and you'll have a long and happy relationship with these shoes.

Half size too big, and even with the laces cinched up all the way it is not enough for a snug fit. Biggest 10 and a half shoes I have ever owned. Disappointed.

I want to wear these shoes: they look great and fit great but the odor they give off is overpowering. I've had them out in the garage for about a month now because the smell remains too strong to keep them in my bedroom. I don't want to wear them around other people. When I read about the aroma in other reviews, I thought they were exaggerating or I would not have bought the shoes. They weren't exaggerating. Very puzzling that L.L. Bean won't deal with this problem.

My husband's comments: I ordered EE in hopes it would fit. The width at the base of my toes was adequate but the toe box tapered in too much so it was still tight out front. This has happened on other LLBean shoes so I'll have to look elsewhere.

I have bought this shoe before. I buy all my shoes from LLBean. I just feel this pair feels cheaper and stiffer. not very impressed. Not sure if it is the model. LLBean has wonderful merchandise.

From a looks perspective, the shoe is great and indeed there is much to like about the shoe. Also of note is an excellent fit. The one big issue I have is the lack of cushion and arch support. My feet get really hot and tired after wearing these shoes for an hour. Lack of water resistance through the upper mesh is a real downside, too. I would not recommend or buy again.

I ordered two different pairs from LLB and both were a tad small in length and too narrow in width. I can wear them but they get uncomfortable on longer walks. I would not order these again....

I like the appearance of the shoes, but a top seam on the left shoe rubs a blister on my little toe. When I wear the shoes I have to apply a bandaid to my left little toe to prevent blistering.

I ordered these shoes for my husband to replace a pair from LLBean that I bought years ago. From the photo, I thought that they were the elastic no-tie style that he wanted. However, the bow on the tie was hidden in the photo. They were darker colored and heavier than he wanted; but most importantly they needed to be tied. He is 80 years old, and bending over to tie them is way too difficult.

These are good quality shoes, but I need an extra wide size and these say 9W(EE) but they are a good half inch narrower than my old New Balance shoes. Disappointed.

I should have returned these but too late now. I only wear when I know I won't be standing or walking much. They look good but somehow have neither good cushion nor good support. Disappointed.

I did like the shoe right from the start. It fit well and was not hot. However, the fabric above the left toe box began to fail in less than six months even though I wore the shoes for only about two hours a day.

Loved these lightweight & well fitting shoes for two years, until I saw the torn fabric & loosening stitching on the toe box of the right shoe. As an old dude usually ambling over the gentle terrain of my acreage, I expected better engineering either in terms of the fabric strength/quality or the toe box construction or increase the leather size to insure that abrasion occurs on it rather than on the fragile fabric?) Or both fabric & construction. From other reviews this is an ongoing defect that should be fixed. I'll steer clear of this model & its fellows.

I got this shoe thinking it would be good for walking long distances. This is the only shoe that I can tell I have worn the next day because my feet hurt. These are not as comfortable as I was hoping they would be. They are rigid. Feel like there is no ankle support. Right after walking in these I go back to my running shoes or Solomans.

I'm shopping Bean's for replacement of the Merrill hikers they used to carry. I'm a size 11.5 or 12 D depending on the shoe. I ordered both sizes and sent them both back; here's why: (1) Even the 11.5 D was too wide and a bit long. It was likely the correct size but, (2) the design does not allow a good lacing to tighten the shoe to a good fit. Rather than a decent number of eyelets allowing the drawing together of the shoe, there's only four "eyelets". Draw as you might on the laces, the shoe does not close down on the foot to take up excess space. It's a design I've not seen before, and I found it completely ineffective for "lacing up" a shoe; or at least for these shoes. Otherwise, the shoe is light weight and nicely padded. I was hopeful; but I'll keep looking.

Shoe seemed to be of good quality but overall was just too small for me. I had no half size option to try so I returned.
