This boot is insanely warm and felt so comfortable on my foot when I hadn't moved yet. Unfortunately, it's rather stiff and doesn't allow my ankle to bend and I don't think breaking it in will make a difference. I think it would be fine to just walk in (though it would change the way my steps fall) but when I tried them out in my car, I found it very difficult to maneuver around the pedals. They also make my foot look very wide, but that I don't particularly care about. I'm sticking with my 6" padded collar duck boots and will just wear extra thick socks! I typically wear a size 8 and I ordered an 8. It fit very well.

Got these with the intention of wearing them to Alaska. The heat rating seemed appropriate and despite ordering a size that fit well with extra thick Arctic rated socks, my feet froze and the temperature wasn't even below zero. Made for a miserable vacation. That said, they fit well so now I have a pair for shoveling the driveway in the Midwest winters but honestly wouldn't recommend or by again. Glad I got these on sale and didn't pay full price.

I was looking for snow boots that I could use when shoveling in the snow or when going on a ski trip. After trying these boots on, I was quite disappointed. The length and the fit were fine. Unfortunately, these boots do not provide any support and do not provide much traction. I decided to return them and purchase a pair of llbean snow boots that I love so far.

Way too small and narrow. Had to send them back. I considered a size larger but don't enjoy the order and send back process. If I were in store, I might have gotten a pair that fit although I still feel they would have been too narrow. Too bad. Seemed like just the boot I was looking for.

The boot was so large that I thought it was mismarked. Great customer service - immediately sent me a 9 to try. Which fits, but is incredibly difficult to get on. Am returning both pairs. During my conversation with customer service (the second time) I found out that these boots - while called Bean boots - are not made by Bean. Am looking through the product description, and see nothing that indicates where they are made. Am not reordering due to fit, but will certainly think twice before ever ordering a pair of "Bean" boots again. Buyer be-careful.

These boots appear well constructed but they are woefully inadequate for the temperatures we experience in interior Alaska. The catalog says they are rated for -45F but that is wishful thinking. They're probably fine for about 0 to -10. Sorry but cannot recommend for really cold weather!

I have larger feet, but this boot is particularly big and bulky. It also dug into my ankles where the rubber meets the leather. I unfortunately returned them. They were excellent quality I expect from LL Bean and seemed like they would be quite warm though!

I was really looking forward to these, but after trying them on it felt like I was wearing ski boots they were so bulky and heavy. I figured I'd keep them anyways since I thought they must be super warm and good in snow since they are so large and heavy.. Boy, was I wrong! The first time I wore them it was about 25-30 out (not freezing) and I was also wearing thick wool socks.. within 20 minutes of being outside my toes were frozen. I love LL Bean 99.9% of the time and will definitely still be shopping with them, but I was very disappointed in the quality of these particular boots.

I was in the snow for about 20 minutes. Toes too cold to stay outside. Temp is 40f today so these boots would not be good for negative temps. May return them.

I purchased these boots for the obvious reason- it's winter! Unfortunately, the boots were so narrow where the leather meets the rubber that i could not get my foot into the boot, and trust me, i tried! To be fair, i have wide feet and these boots only come in a medium, but i have excellent hiking boots which only came in a medium and they fit great. I am sure a person with narrow feet would love these boots, but this wide footed female had to return them.

They fit weird and can be awkward to drive in. They are very spacious in the heel but are too tight or something in the toes. They don't feel uncomfortable when trying them on (bulky?... yes! but not like they would cause an issue) but as a result of the way they fit, my feet slosh around when I wear socks with an average thickness but when I try thicker socks, my toes get cold as a result of poor circulation from the tightness around my toes, I believe. But they definitely keep your feet dry!

I am a frequent L.L. Bean shopper. This women's boot is very nice and well-made, I am certain. However, it is not offered in a wide width. I am a size 8 Wide. I find it frustrating that L.L. Bean does not offer many styles of women's boots and shoes in a wide width. Just as you offer choices of styles and sizes, you should also offer more choices of widths in women's footwear.

I tried these boots in size 7 and 8. I returned the 7 because they were too tight with thick socks. The 8 fits better length-wise but feels wide. It is impossible to take a normal step while wearing these boots. They are too bulky and clunky and your foot cannot bend properly. Where the leather and rubber meet, it presses uncomfortably down on the top of my foot. I also don't like that you can't pull the laces tight enough to really close the boot. Overall just a very poor fit. I wanted these for a warm and sturdy boot to walk in the snow and sadly, they just don't cut it. I love all the LL Bean products I think these boots perform terribly. They do have a couple high points with the really nice look and the warm pac boot lining. Hopefully I can still return the second pair.

When purchasing the boots I read the reviews and should have paid closer attention to the lower rated ones, but I was excited to redeem a 20% off promo and three gift cards. These boots not only looked excessively large, but they felt like a pair of ski boots on my feet. On a recent morning after a snowstorm I took them for a test drive, which lasted all of one hour as my legs were constricted into a bent position, and I slipped on a piece of ice that my 20-year-old LLBean jodphur boots always navigate safely. While driving it was difficult to accurately feel the gas and brake pedals. The boots will be returned. Interestingly, my daughter has a pair of the Bean Boats that are made in Maine, and she has had no problem with slipping. Perhaps that control and attention to details might help with this product as well. With everything I have purchased over the years from LLBean, this is my first negative review, which is actually a pretty good track record.

I bought these boots online and was so excited to try them. I've been looking for a sturdy, warm pair of snow boots as my rubber wellies are not cutting it with the cold and snow MA has now been getting. I tried them on as soon as I got them, tried them out in the snow and immediately knew they would be going back. They are huge, clunky and difficult to walk in. The felt insert does keep your feet warm, but it also makes the boots completely inflexible. I figured taking the insert out and wearing thick socks would do the trick but the boots themselves are so huge without it that they were unwearable. I would be keeping these if they were a little more forgiving and versatile. I think I was expecting something like the classic duck boot with a warmer insert but these are way way bigger than the photo and sizing guide leads you to believe.

Nice boot but looks more like a men's vs. women's boot and it's huge and clunky to walk in. They make you look like you have Frankenstein feet.

Should have paid attention to other reviews - while well made and warm, these boots are huge. Clumping around the house in them convinced me to send them back - truly felt like Frankenstein!

So I felt I ordered my typical size but they were huge. Also hard to walk in. The ankle was so sloppy I thought I'd roll my ankle. I had to return.

I am so sad to write this, having been an LL Bean fan my whole life. I have had these boots for exactly 3 weeks, and have worn them running errands and walking the dogs. They fit great and were very comfortable and incredibly warm. After 3 weeks of minimal use, the heel came off. Completely. It was barely glued down and in general the quality of the construction is much lower than their products ever have been. I will be returning them and reconsidering any purchase I make here.

I bought these boots before I moved to Boston for grad school because I knew the winters could potentially be harsh and I needed good snow boots to wear on my walks to and from my apartment to the studio. I walked a decent amount and because of the weight of the top part of the boot and the natural movement of your foot from walking, the rubber heel would fold on itself and created a crack in the rubber. I couldn't use them in the snow after that because snow would get into the cracks and make my feet damp. And because LL Bean got rid of their lifetime warranty, they've just been stored away and it breaks my heart because I did love these boots. But I do not recommend if you plan on walking a decent amount during the cold season.

I wear a size 7 and these were a size 7. It was so tight just to get my foot in there. I did like the style and quality of the boot but I returned. Disappointed for a size 7 it was so tight just to try and get the top open more just to try to get my foot in, its ridiculous

I love these boots, the look great, are super warm, other reviews are accurate when they say they are wide, but they aren't heavy. I am on my second pair... in two years. The first pair was replaced half way through the first winter I had them using LL Beans old life time warranty (which no longer exists). The top of the boot had separated from the sole leaving a large hole on the inside side of the boot. It was such a clean separation I didn't notice until the insides of the boots were soaking wet and freezing. I had the first pair replaced last winter and the second pair is already defective in the same way, though the hole is in a different location. I do not put heavy wear on these boots, I use them to walk to and from my car and minimal walking during the day. I would be less disappointed if I had really put them to the test, but it seems that there is a true defect in this model of boot. For the price point, and now that there is no longer a warranty, I will repair them myself and hopefully they hold up for a few more seasons.
