I bought these boots fully intending to take advantage of Hoka's 30 day shoe trying policy. I made it a mission to take different terrain type hikes to see if the commitment to new boots from online was really a good idea. (I am replacing 18 year old Merrill boots that have only just now given up on me, and they have been through a lot so I expect a lot out of their replacement!)
The weight of these boots is what drew me most to them and wow that is why I kept them; boots that don't feel like boots lol. I had so much fun wearing these boots.
It is true to size, so for the size I got I cannot wear super thick socks, but a standard or regular sock is good. I thought about ordering 1/2 size up but in Hoka gym shoes that size for me feels big, and I wanted my boots snugger than that.
The worst part was already said in reviews both on the women and men review section. The highest spot on the boot where the shoe lace goes does not have any where near enough padding! I did almost return them for that reason alone. However another person mentioned they put moleskin padding so I did also and that is why I ended up keeping the shoes because they are wonderful otherwise. They look super cute and functional - Good traction , light weight , water proof !

Just got back from a late winter hike so it was very muddy and wet but these boots had great traction, didn't hurt my feet, aren't heavy, and are definitely water proof. 10/10 recommend

After trying and returning several similar shoes/boots I finally landed on these. They fit perfectly and do exactly what I want--waterproof, good support and cushioning. I was sad when my old Speedgoat GTX mid boots wore out, but I must say, I like these even better!

I own about a dozen pair of hokas. This is the first shoe that didn't fit true to size. My toe touches the end of them. I will be returning and getting a different pair of shoes. They didn't feel like they would be as comfortable as my last pair of trail shoes.

I've never found hiking boots that don't give me blisters or are super comfy, until these. The best I've ever hiked in.

Overall, I really like these. Wish they came in wide but I purchased half size larger and they have been fine. Foot bed is really comfortable which is usually tricky for me. Wish it had more of an arch but is still comfortable. I wish the tongue was wider and there was more padding in the ankle area. I've had issues with rubbing on my ankle bones and just above the ankle especially where a seam and back of hooks are located. Added padding at the hotspots which has taken care of the issues. In spite of my wish list, I decided to keep these because I really like the foot bed comfort. Have hiked in snow and mud and paved and uneven terrain. Have gotten them wet and the inside stayed dry.

Loved the fit. My issue is that there's rough areas around the ankle inside near the shoestrings where they are sewn. When I walked around my living room, it rubbed my ankles so I know that I wouldn't be able to wear them on walks/hikes. Very disappointing because I really like the way they look. I returned.

I was counting on finding a Hoka hiking boot with the same guaranteed comfort and support as my 2 pairs of Hoka Bondi's (Wide) that I love! But alas, and true to all the other disappointed Hoka lovers who commented on their search for Hoka hiking boots - they don't make it with the super comfort and wide fit! So sad that the boot does not have the same dreamy qualities that I've come to count on in their sneakers.

These do not have the cushioning I was expecting. The high tops dig into my right ankle. My other pair of hiking shoes from Hoka are the most comfortable shoes I've ever had but they're getting old and pretty worn, wish they still made them. I will be returning these. Very disappointed

Was blown away when I tried these on, they were so comfy. I didn't have time to break them in before a 21 mile backpacking trip and these were incredible. Didn't have any sort of rubbing or pain until the last 3 or so miles but that alone was impressive that they remained comfortable during the first wear for that long. Walked through small creeks and they repelled water well, cleaned easy, and felt really supportive for feet and ankles. I have plantar fasciitis and had virtually no foot pain the days following the hike which is rare for me after being on my feet that long. Went a half size up than I usually wear and they are perfect.

I chose this hiking shoe for my trip west, hiking some rugged terrain in Montana, Wyoming, and Colorado. These shoes did NOT disappoint. Very comfortable with good lateral and ankle support. Waterproof, which came in handy many times. Excellent gripping of rocks, roots, and muddy terrain. The expandable, breathable fabric was perfect for my feet.

These hiking boots are the best! I've tried many different brands but these are the winner! They're so comfortable yet sturdy and provide the best ankle support!

I run a 35 horse stable and I am on my feet for 14 hours a day. My feet were killing me and I needed to find some thing that would give me support with comfort and cover my ankle so I didn't get dirt etc. kicked into my sneaker.
I tried waterproof trail shoe by, On Cloud, they were OK but these are above and beyond in comparison!

Right out of the box I just love them. I had first purchased the Anacapa's but for the type of hiking and activity's I prefer I chose the trail code instead. I had no need to break them in. The sole that comes with the shoe is fine but I did chose to remove it and put a Dr. Scholls one with a bit more arch support. The boot hugged my foot and I was able to lace them securely around my ankle, with no dig in. While hiking on gravel to actually uphill/downhill rocky terrain they gripped the ground well and my ankles didn't give out while going down hill. I love that they are multi purpose which to me made sense for the price and what I was seeking. I can hike in them for sure no problem but they look great as a high top sneaker with leggings, or shorts. So when traveling I can just pack these verses hiking boots and my Hoka bondi. I got my trail code GTX in the color black/castle rock and just love the look. I believe you will love these and the versatility, just get them!

I wanted to try a cushier hiking shoe. Previous were Salomon’s, and found them to feel stiff and made my feet sore after a day’s hiking. . These were comfy right out of the box. I got a 10.5 and felt my toes were a little too close but since these have some give to them, I found my toes weren’t hitting the top like they did on stiffer hiking boots that I have had that used to leave my toes sore from hitting the top of the shoe, especially on a downhill hike. I was worried if I got an 11 , they’d be way too big. Although the looks aren’t great, I like the wider base of the shoe/ I have ankles that tend to flip out over the slightest elevation difference, but with the wider and more flexible base than traditional hiking shoes, I found these were more stable on uneven terrain. I wish they were a skosh longer, but so far so good. Collar around ankles is comfortable too- they flex well and don’t rub like some hikers do.

I have a few pairs of Hokas and I am a fan. This pair of hiking shoes seem like they will take some time to break in. Specifically the top of the shoe especially the part that covers the front of my ankle area, leaves discomfort after a couple hour hike.

I'm an auto worker I purchased these boots because I love the bondi 8's but need ankle support at work. The boots weee doing great everything I was hoping for until the treads on the bottom of the right boot have separated and I haven't even worn them a month. It's disappointing because for the price I would hope they would have lasted up to 4-6 months

I wanted to love these and take them on a hiking trek. Unfortunately, they are too short and I can’t seem to break them in to a point where they are comfortable. I had high expectations for HOKA and am now stuck with a $200 pair of shoes I don’t want to wear. Very disappointing.

They are just way too narrow. By the end of a short 2 mile hike my toes were numb from the narrow footbed smooshing my toes. Very bummed because otherwise the arch support was good and they were a good height up on my ankle for some extra support. Ended up returning them

I’ve had multiple ankle surgeries including reconstruction of each, thus hiking boots are impossible to find as they put pressure on my scars, I tried on as many brands and styles that I could find with no luck. I honestly had skipped the Hokas for a while as I didn’t like the feel of their running shoes. These boots though were instant love! They cradled my ankles in a way that I hadn’t hoped for. There was no pressure on my incision scars, I am so appreciative of their shoe designers/engineers who helped me have an amazing and surprisingly pain free trip to Iceland where I practically lived in them. The grip was also key as we hiked on wet trails and rocks. I now wear them more than the situation may call for as they are that amazingly comfortable and supportive. Sad to see that they may have been discontinued.

I'm a backcountry backpacking guide and long time outdoor enthusiast and I SWEAR by these boots!! They are the only pair of shoes that I've ever owned to never give me a blister. I find that with most boots, you either have to choose between rigid ankle support and waterproofing, or cushy comfort. These are the only ones I've found with both. I once was able to summit a 5000 foot icy mountain in Vermont's with these boots alone, and no spikes, bcs the
traction was just that good. Not to mention I fell in MANY streams and my feet stayed paper dry for the entire trip. Take my advice, buy these boots.
