East Coast Canadian weather has come with minimal snow and lots of cold rain. I was looking for a lighter (hiking) version of my faithful ski guide bib pants. Something with a full zip and easy to get into and out of. Was looking for waterproof, windproof and comfortable - product delivered. Fit was as expected from previous purchases. Will be using for attempt at Kilimanjaro in March. Layering will be key to go from rain forest to high Alpine.

These pants are AWESOME!!! They let your legs still breathe so you arent just sweating in them. The only downside is there are NO pockets. Would love to have just one pocket in them but all in all they have been amazing!! They fit big length-wise, I would go down a size.

Arc'teryx has the best form-fitting outdoor wear in the market - guaranteed! And sure enough, these Beta pants fit very well (I'm generally a 31x32 and went with size Small as the Medium was far too big). I use them primarily for my biking commute on the southern Oregon coast where we get lots and lots of HEAVY sideways rain. These pants, along with my Beta LT jacket, keep me bone dry throughout my 3-mile bike commute. Contrary to what others shared about the side zippers being a nuisance to operate and being somewhat of a discomfort in heavy movement, I think they're easy to use and don't feel them at all during my bike ride. The crotch zipper is nice, theoretically speaking, though I think the opening could be a bit bigger. The only suggestion I have for future models is to incorporate zip side pockets and a rear pocket. Overall, highly recommend these incredibly versatile, form-fitting rain pants. They're absolutely worth it. You won't regret it!

I bought these and used them while exploring waterfalls in Iceland and they kept me completely dry. At one point I walked through ankle high water with my goretex boots and the pants sealed them off entirely.

I've taken the pants out on a couple winter camping trips up to the enchantments and the Teanaway region in Washington. Threw them on at summit. Love the full side zips. Great with mountaineering boots. I've been wanting a full side zip when wearing crampons, glad to have these in the pack, great insurance for a low weight cost.

I picked up these pants and I find them to be excellent. I am using them for skiing though and for that I have no issues with their design. I can see how the zipper would get to be annoying for any length of cycling but I'm pretty sure these are not designed for cycling. There are better pants for that sport. The price for these are comparatively lower than other dedicated Arcterex ski pants yet the Gore fabric and seams are very good. My only gripe is the drawstring. It's pretty much useless however, it's not really needed either but an elastic waist or better drawstring would be an improvement. The side buttons and zippers allow easy access in and out.

I just got these pants along with the Beta AR Jacket and Atom LT Hoody. Everything is amazing quality and fits better than any other brand I've worn. That being said, the black Beta pants don't perfectly match the black Beta jacket. The pants have a slight blue tint and are a bit lighter than the jacket in the same color. This is obviously not a big problem but I wish they were the same tone of black. I'm sure that this could be a dealbreaker for some OCD people. Anyways, the pants are VERY waterproof and have nice zippers going down the entire side of the leg for venting or easy access to layers underneath.

Truly happy with these pants! Im 510 and weight about 140lbs, grabbed the medium size with regular length. They do fit a little big which is great for layering. The adjustable band around the waist as well as the leg pocket are my favorite features. Although they arent really made for skiing, they still preformed very well, just had to pull the zipper up around boots.

These are the pants I keep with me every time I go out hiking. Too light to notice them, really. Only downside is that they fit slightly large on me.

Excellent quality product as expected. zips can tricky however it's not an issue for me. The top zippers requires additional pressure to fully zip up, this means that it's fairly secure and I feel confident that it won't unzip whilst moving. The buttons are flat so it's not uncomfortable next to the body at the waist. The C-knit backer is nice on this product as it feels supple and is quiet when moving. In combination with the weight after a while it's hard to tell you have them on. The cut of the waist is high enough to keep the elements out and overlaps a jacket. For me the waist doesn't interfere with a hip belt on a backpack. The preshaped knees allow for a good range of movement and the addition of reinforced sections on the inside of the lower leg makes it feel robust where required. I'm not a massive fan of the draw string system as it takes a fair amount of tension to cinch in to the body, however I didn't require too much adjustment to get a good fit. Overall a good product, time will tell how the C-knit gore tex fabric wears but this will depend on use.

Really really really disappointed that Arc'teryx doesn't make the pants in XL short size. Way too long! They're a fine pant but I have to return them.

Le probleme de ces pantalons c'est qu'ils se detachent facilement a l'endroit du zipper au niveau du bouton. C'est plutt dcevant de toujours devoir se soucier de a.

I purchased this product 6 months ago, and have been wearing it while hunting in the bush, as well as hiking in BC, and Ski Touring. They are a wonderful pant, that provide excellent waterproofing, and are super durable. However, I do have a gripe with the design. I am forced to wear suspenders with the pant, because there are no belt loops on the pant, nor is the fabric tighteners on the front of the pant very effective. If I go belt less, I have to tuck thicker layers into my pant, and it makes it difficult to regulate temperature. I know that the pants are made more for an alpine environment, but I would love some more utility out of the pant.

Not a lot of sizing options, virtually all of the sizes are for men taller than 5'9 or with a medium/small waist size. I couldn't find anything for shorter men or skinnier men which is surprising as one would infer outdoor sports clothing with fit/athletic body types rather than XXL sizes.
Only 1 front pocket on the right leg of the pants. Pants are a shell only, you'll need something soft underneath.

I got these pants to use for a backpacking trip in Kananaskis this past weekend as the forecast threatened a decent amount of rain and potential thunderstorms, so I figured it would be the perfect opportunity to upgrade from my GTX Gaiters.
Overall I was quite pleased with the comfort that these pants provided while doing basic camp chores in the rain. (Setting up the tent, Cooking dinner, hanging a bear bag etc.) I also found these pants to be perfect for the trek back to the car as the rain had stopped but the brush along the single track trail was soaking wet. My partner who was wearing the gamma LT soft shell pant ended up getting soaked in the legs from this brush while I was nice and dry. I found the GTX C-knit backer to be perfect for this pant as they did not feel clammy even after 5 hrs of constant elevation gain. When I have used GTX pants in the past the clammy effect has always been present and I find that quite annoying .
These pants are packable enough that I can comfortably fit them into the rolled up hood of my Beta LT Hadron Jacket, which makes the pack organization freak in me super stoked.
I have two gripes with this pant hence the 3 star rating, they are the following;
1. The pants do not feature a lace hook that could attach to my boot. My Beta SV Bib pants feature this lace hook and it does an excellent job at sealing out snow, water, dirt and other debris one might come across while frolicking in the backcountry.
2. For some reason the top zipper is very difficult to unzip, it definitely does not come down on its own which is nice but it seems to be extra challenging to work with.
At the end of the day if you are looking for a fairly lightweight, fairly durable and fairly breathable waterproof, wind proof pant this is a pretty good option. I would personally recommend this pant to any friend who intended to use it for hiking, biking, and maybe even some climbing too. If a future model solved the two problems I have above this pant would hands be a 5 star piece of kit. Happy Trails

Review for Zappos VIP Points(What's this?)
THE PANTS ARE NOT FULL ZIP AS PICTURED. I was trying to order the previous season beta pant but these are the new ones with 3/4 zip. The new design looks and feels cheap and is missing some of the essential features such as full zip… The Arcteryx brand is going down the drain.

Gore-tex, fine, fit is real, looks nice. However, major problem is that there is no way to tighten pants! There are two cords which are supposed to help but impossible to tighten them up. Useless design. Has someone tested this before production? Great pants, if they fit you perfectly, that you don't need additional adjustment. And, yes I know there will be minuses and dozens of positive reviews after this. Whatever.

It pains me to say this because I love every piece of arc gear that I have but these are not great they are not up to the quality I expect.
The quality of the zippers is quite surprising actually. I was very excited to get these pants and try them on, I struggled with the zipper on each side for over two minutes. They were very very hard to get a part and get started, these zippers do not feel nice. I finally get the pants on and noticed two things, there is no button on the front for the fly and the drawstring to tight in the waste is really really bad. The drawstring has a strip of grip running down it which makes it really difficult to untie. This is not nice adjuster that is in my Zeta Pants. I've tried these pants on numerous times try to convince myself they are ok. It's a struggle to get these pants on and off. There is no getting in and out of these pants quickly. The pants are always falling down slightly because I don't want to tie the drawstring too tight. The Zipper on the right hip didn't seem to want to close all the way and stays a little open at the top unless you really pull on it. Unfortunately when I try this on with a pack both top zippers sit right under my hip belt.
I really wanted to like these pants but these are a huge disappointment. I don't say this lightly as I'm a huge arc fan but I wanted to let people know as there were no reviews when I order mine.

I practically live in Arc'teryx and was looking for another shell pant for non-skiing snow sports. I ordered these but they just didnt do it for me - either form or function. Sorry, but this was a miss for me
