These bags were, originally, coal, holding 50 pounds of coal each. In their day they were not trendy, but they were tough, and they still are. I used to work on a square topsail schooner with a coal stove in the galley. Every year we had to load about 30 of these bags, and hoist each bag onto the ship with a hook attached to a whip. They bags were stowed in the hold, and the galley boy hauled them out, one at a time to fire the stove. Those bags worked hard, and they seemed to last indefinitely. These are those bags!

Great bag for packing tons of items and strong enough to manage significant weight. I purchased it as a gift and had it monogrammed for a family with a camp/cabin to go back and forth to all Summer. They loved it!

I'm in my 50s and have been using LL Bean Boat and Tote bags since I was a kid. I always order them with a monogram or a fun reference to what the bag will be used for. These haven't really changed over the years (unlike so many other things!) and wear like iron. I'm a fan of the open top with shorter handles. It's a preppy classic that looks great wherever you take it!

This bag is beautiful and very well made. The fabric is substantial enough that the bag stands upright, which is very useful. I am recommending them to everyone I know.

Old faithful for an everyday beach bag that fits all the necessities. Easy to carry and transport; doesn't fall over. Takes a beating. When they get too old or dirty, they make a great tool bag or garden tote.

This bag is perfect for my 9-5 and day trip outings! The canvas of the bag is strong which makes me confident in how much weight I can put into the bag. My everyday work essentials make traveling to and from work easy and a perfect size for a decent sized personal item for my trips out of state!

The LL Bean canvas totes have served me well for many years. The only disappointment was they went on sale a week after I ordered mine.

Love these bags for vacation travel. Bought 3 a few years ago and they look like new, so when we decided on additional ones we went right back to LLBean for proven quality. (Forgot to get them monogrammed!)

If you don't carry a birkin bag you should carry an LL Bean boat and tote. I have two other boat and tote bags that I use for groceries And they are the envy of everyone else in the store

This is the nicest tote I have ever seen. It is so durable. I got the XL because I wanted something larger than the standard size tote. I am so very pleased with it. We recently had a large family picnic and we could carry so much in this tote. I'm sure we will find many uses for it. I highly recommend this tote. I'll never buy one anyplace else. LL Bean's is the BEST!!!!

I love this tote. It actually makes me happy when we open the back hatch of the car and see the tote full of beach/pool supplies. The large is big enough to hold our towels, shade tent, and blow up toys with room to spare and the long handle makes it easy to carry. Highly recommend.

Small size is perfect for taking to the farmers market or beach. It fits so much and it's so durable

This thing is so sturdy! The fact that it is handmade makes it so unique. They even include a card with the name of who made your bag! I have gotten so many compliments on my bag already. So cute and so sturdy! I am sure this thing will last forever!

I absolutely love this bag! It's big and sturdy to hold plenty of supplies. I used it to carry my party supplies to where I was going. I am planning on using it for an upcoming trip as well.
