Great shoe. However, this particular boots leather is very soft. Not like any other leather boot I have owned. Its quality leather but if you are looking for something a little more rugged as opposed to stylish you might want to try on a pair before ordering. I wear a size 13 and the 13 boot I got feels more like a 14 or 13.5. Also these boots will soak up water! I would recommend some sort of waterproofing because a quick walk in a rainy downtown will mean wet socks. Overall great shoe but more show horse than plow horse.

I bought this shoe (black stone washed) and I was so excited about it. The shoe was look awesome but I wear them it turns out they are not comfortable and and they run large and narrow. Any way I returned them. I think Frye is not a good choice for us with the wide feet.

Black as pictured online, said black on the receipt, says "blk" on the style number on the tongue of the boot. DEFINITELY not black.

Got these and went to try them on saw they were made in India. Nothing against India but as a first time customer and seeing the branding of proud american craftsmanship I am a little let down. Just a heads up of you didnt already know. Apparently I should have. Also, the prices should be lower if you are outsourcing...

I love the look of this boot. In fact, I bought this same boot a couple years ago, but in black. Decided to get them in brown this time. BUT, they fit completely different. Same size as last time, but different fit. I can barely get them on, then when I wear them the blood supply to my toes is cut off. They're way too tight right at the bottom of the laces. Even with the laces taken out... still can't barely it into them. If I went up a size, that would make them too long. Trying to decide if I should return them or try and break them in....

Boot came unglued around the toe portion after 14 months. I expected a lot more from these considering the name/price.

As another review mentioned, these boots require serious effort to put on, even after a year and a half. I bought them in December 2015 and by spring the heels had worn out, both inside and out. Another year of casual wear later the entire inside on the heel on one of them has totally worn out and the leather pulls out when I take off the boot. With Frye's reputation for making 'boots that will last a lifetime,' I definitely expected to get more than a year and a half out of them before they started wearing out.

After wearing the boots for a week the rubber part of the sole started peeling off. As I usually put rubber covers all over my leather soles and the original rubber was just partially covers the front part of the leather I had them resoled. Just to be sure I bought these puppies and will alternate between Wolverines and Frye this winter so ... we will see...

I have had this boot for about a month. It is a nice boot but is not what I thought I was going to get. If you are looking for a rugged or even semi-rugged work boot, this is not it. This boot would work fine for a casual or business situation. Very soft leather and after just a month I can already see quite a bit of wear on the rubber insert. Not worth $318. Might be worth half of that.

All the comments about inaccurate sizing, foot bed width issues, premature wear, glued parts failure, seam stitching coming apart and difficulty in putting on should be a BIG RED FLAG to those of you who have not had the pleasure of purchasing Frye products. It comes down to their corporate choice of outsourcing manufacturing to Asia and other areas known for low wages, inadequately trained shoe makers and poor managerial oversight. Frye can advertise that the hides are from Italy or Spain or wherever but that becomes irrelevant once that leather is brought to the Asian sweat shops. Corporate greed drives this and the uninformed customer ends up carrying the burden that greed creates by struggling to make their new shoes fit and wear properly. Can you imagine being pleased because you were able to finally find a size that fits you after several inconvenient returns and then to wear your new shoes for a whole eight hours and not have a blister or a whole two months before parts come unglued or seam stitches give out? Shoes and boots made in Italy, America, the UK and Spain are the only footwear you'll find in my closet and every single company represented backs up their product with a lifetime warranty against premature failure and the belief that if they provide quality and service they will have a repeat customer for life. I'm not naming names...do your own research and you'll soon know who they are. Until Frye makes the decision to once again provide the highest consistent manufacturing quality and respect their customers and their own historic legacy by providing the best that they can, I'll not support them with my hard earned money.

These are BEAUTIFUL in the picture. They are not shaped like human feet, though. They're extremely narrow, and the toe box is incredibly long. I ordered a US size 11. They were about as long as a size 12, but about as wide as a size 10. They looked VERY odd when I put them on. That being said, the build quality and materials appear to be just outstanding... which is a shame, because they are simply unwearable. I'm super bummed.

These boots are beautiful, but their price far outstrips their quality. I had these for about three weeks before the metal eyelets began popping off apparently the stress from unlacing the top pairs to put the shoes on and off was a bit too much for them. That did not, of course, bode well for a pair of boots I hoped would last me at least a couple of years. Thankfully Zappos Customer Service (to whom Frye directed me, to their credit) was incredibly helpful, as usual, and allowed me to return the defective boots without issue.

These are awesome looking and comfortable boots. They do stretch after time so get a half size smaller. The only complaint is that the eyelets do not stay in place. The style of eyelet does not grab the leather. They need to change the design of the eyelets. Frye was nice enough to replace these boots once but now the second pair is doing the same thing. These boots should last for years. They need to fix this problem.

They look fantastic, fit true to size, feel fan-freaking-tastic right out of the box, but aren't well made. I expected more from Frye, considering my mother still has hers from back in her 'flower child' days... I wanted to invest in a pair myself, thinking they'd last forever. Not this pair... I ended up getting them as a gift, before I could buy them myself. My only criticism is with that rubber 'insert' on the sole, for traction. They've GLUED on.... and come unglued far too quickly. (less than a year, without any 'hard' use, and only as PART of my shoe rotation). I tried to contact Frye for replacement, since I hardly wore them at all... Nothing, except for me to send them out to get resoled for $75-100. Does that sound ridiculous to anyone else? Expensive boots should last longer than that before coming apart... Tried to leave a negative review on their website, so other potential buyers know what they could be getting into... and they never posted my review! what's the point of a review system if you're just going to filter which ones are visible to buyers?? Zappos is fantastic. Great company to deal with. But these boots aren't worth the money...

Do not buy these shoes. I wore through the soles in less than two months of wearing them every day. I returned them and got another pair. In just over one month the rubber on the sole is already worn through. If you just sit or stand around and want to look stylish - these might be good for you. However if you actually work on your feet and like to party, these are a terrible choice. Oh yeah - and they do not grip a wet floor at all. I might as well wear banana peels on my feet. Very disappointed for a pair of boots costing this much.
