Very comfortable and waterproof sneaker shoes that are great for informal days and attire. These are an excellent pair of very casual footwear to wear on days when you are wearing comfortable, no frills clothing such as the weekend. Especially on wet and cold days. They do an excellent job keeping the feet warm and dry. Given that they look like sneakers, they can't be worn to business or even business casual environments, unless your office allows sneakers to be worn. Hopefully Johnston and Murphy will eventually make a dressier pair that are also waterproof so that they can be used for the office as well for every day uses.

The XC4 Tanner Plain Toe is an amazing shoe in terms of the fit, comfort, style and the overall design. This is easily the best pair of shoes I've bought at Johnston & Murphy to date.

This is my 12th pair of J&M shoes, and I was looking for a more flexible shoe to wear, and less formal / business. Ive worn with slacks and sports coat- but these would look great with jeans too. Great looking shoes and extremely comfortable. Would love a black suede shoe similar to this. Ive gotten complements on them already. Id recommend to anyone.

I rely on XC4 Tanner Plain Toe shoes for long walks in New York City. I own the Tan Full Grain size 9. They provide unmatched comfort and excellent support. They carry the style and comfort I need, making them perfect for both my daily work routine and long distances.

IMO these are great looking shoes and extremely comfortable. However, I can't tell you how disappointed I am that the shoestrings have frayed and are about to break after only 3 months of occasional use.

I love Tanner brogues. This is my third pair. Please keep making them. They are the best shoe I've found for balance and comfort and good style at the same time.

I finally broke down and bought pair #2 of these. My original pair lasted 4 years of pretty much daily wear for that 4 years. They were exceedingly comfortable and supportive, probably the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned. I cannot say enough good things about them, as they are stylish for my business casual workday (even can wear them with casual suits/sport coats), yet casual to wear with jeans. All day comfort for me. Very durable, as 4 years attests. Hopefully they'll be around in 4 more years when I need pair #3.

I bought these shoes for comfort as I do a lot of walking and standing. They are exactly what I needed and more.

I have 5 pairs of Johnston &Murphy dress shoes and just bought a pair for my son in law. He is on his feet all day and now wants the same pair in brown

The first day I wore the shoes to work, I had them on for 14 hours. They fit like a glove and comfortable all day long. I even received a compliment before I got in the office. Perfect combo, style and comfort.

All positives, no negatives.

2nd pair of these shoes. Travel quite a bit and these shoes have a dressy look but are good for walking around in the rain or wet conditions. Only negative criticism is that the bottoms can be a little slippery in wet smooth surfaces.

Best shoes on the market

These shows are super comfortable. They are nice-looking dress shoes, but far more comfortable than typical ones. They help me take brisk walks during short breaks at my workplace to get some steps and stay healthy despite my predominantly sedentary job. They have softer foam soles, and they fit very well.

Very comfortable for walking a few miles. My feet did get hot and a bit damp after walking for a while.

Im probably like a lot of men I wearing shoes like to work every day. I must admit, these are the most comfortable pair Ive had for as long as I can remember. Well done J&M!

This shoe is very comfortable and the XC4 system is great. I work 12 hour shifts and these shoes hold up great and keep my feet comfortable and keep my legs from hurting during that time as well. They pair well with lots of different outfits. I get lots of compliments on these shoes.
