Not scratchy, nice, smooth blanket. Love the color - not too yellow or brown, a camel color that goes with lots of colors. I wouldn't use it as my only blanket but over my duvet, it adds warmth at night and looks great as an accent color.

My review is not necessarily for this blanket or the brand Pendleton in general. My rating is based on how this blanket arrived to me and the return process at Zappos. I received the blanket intending to give it as a gift. I'm happy I opened the Amazon packaging it came in well in advance of Christmas, because this was entirely unsuitable to give as a gift. There was a hideous mold-like smell (and no, it was absolutely not the standard wool smell you get with a wool blanket) and the clear plastic portion of the Pendleton packaging was cloudy, and had a long split in it (like it was cut into with a box-cutter at some point). I suspect it probably got wet in the warehouse and that's why they are passing it off at the discount price. Maybe the smell would go away with a wash, but I was not planning to keep it for myself so I had to return. Now, on to Zappos' return policy. Even though I am a VIP and the item was obviously defective, I was not offered a VIP rapid refund which I was granted once in the past. So even though I dropped my return at UPS the day after I received it over a week ago, I still haven't seen a sign of the refund and it likely won't get here for a couple more weeks, according to the FAQ. Also, I used a $15 coupon on the purchase and Zappos has not refunded me that coupon to use toward something else. Now if I just "didn't like" the item that would be justifiable, but this is a case where I was send a smelly, gross, obviously damaged item and don't feel like I should be punished for that. I'm extremely unimpressed with Zappos' returns process and the fact that they won't refund a coupon...

The fit and size of this blanket is perfect. The material is not itchy nor is it rough or course, but this is NOT Merino wool. What this does do is perfectly regulate my body temperature keeping me cool throughout the night and I live in the hot, humid south USA. I love the Pendleton Eco-Wise, washable 100% wool blanket.
