I have bought other Rockport Total Motion Sport oxfords in 10.5 W so I assumed the same size would work in the Total Motion Sport boot. However, it was way too large and had to downsize to a 10 W. I am assuming there is room for thick backpacking socks, but an "urban assault" boot is not going out in the back country with a 70 lb pack over hard rocks. I am planning to wear thick athletic socks with these boots. Once I exchanged for a smaller size (and opened the toe box a wee bit), they fit great. I am very happy with my purchase.

I purchased the size 9 and the size 9.5 to make sure I had the right fit. There was absolutely no difference between the two sizes. Both had the same dimensions (to the mm) and the same exact weight. Both pairs were labeled inside the shoe tongue (one pair size 9, the other pair size 9.5). I returned the size 9.5. Then purchased a size 8.5 -- which was genuinely size 8.5, too small, so retuned it.
Now wearing the size 9 (despite my shoe size being 9.5 by all previous Rockport shoes over the years). A bit large by othwerise confortable with thick socks.

So far so good and I'm happy with the purchase. They are comfortable. I've had boots I liked better for the following reasons: 1.) I like a boot that opens up easy for on and off - the lace up approach on these has resistance which does not support this attribute and I suspect will wear out laces quicker. 2) The toe is more pointy than I'm used to - not loving it from a design standpoint.

Nice style but it ran larger in length & even with a wide was narrow in heal & mid section. I was very disappointed in how stiff this shoe was. The sole was almost entire inflexible & clunky to walk in.

These boots are just what I needed. They are easy to take care of, provide terrific ankle support without feeling confining or "too stiff", and are clearly rugged enough for hiking in the wilderness. They are also good looking enough to wear in the office. I'm glad I bought two pair at the price they were offered!

Great fit! Very comfortable. A lot of these bad reviews are from people who don't do their research...like reading the reviews. I found that a lot of people said the ran a little longer and an little narrow. I usually wear a size 9 regular. I ordered an 8 1/2 W and they fit great! This was my first pair of Rockports and I've since ordered the black version of these boots and three more pairs of shoes for work...using the same method of sizing, they all fit GREAT!!

Great boot. Stylish, comfortable, lightweight, and warm. The Total Motion line appears to run a little big, so l purchased 1 size lower and they fit great. Like the so much , I bought a brown pair too.

The shoes arrived quickly, fit well and seem to be well constructed. I had to get used to the high top on my heel as I had not been wearing this type of shoe. The leather was soft and supple and comfortable on the first wearing. They work well for getting out into the outdoors, but also look good with dressier attire.

I ordered 1/2 size smaller because I anticipated a larger toe box. Worked out perfectly. Love the rear strap. It's a great help getting the shoes on my feet.

Very comfortable and light weight. They do run a bit long. Even with the extra length, they fit well. But if you aren't used to a longer shoe, you find yourself catching them on things like stairs. I do recommend these boots.

Shoe's were as advertised, very comfortable without any 'break-in'. Not sure of the lace design appears that the design will wear out the laces in short time. Otherwise, very happy with purchase.

Built to last ? Bought this boot in a gortex lining in 1988. I gave them to my 18 year grandson 2
years ago after having them re soled. I hope
he can wear these out in 30 years
