They are great for hiking. I plan to trail run in them.

I love the in between feel of a barefoot and cushioned shoe. I was looking for something to give my feet a little break from my barefoot shoes but still have zero drop and get that feedback. These definitely delivered! Super comfy, wide toe box. Nice job. Wish for more color options though

I cover a lot of ground (5 miles+) in a day walking at the racetrack and these are comfortable all day long.

7 days Big Bend, TX, thumbs up! perfect for desert washes or trails. They did run a little warm but I wore thick hiking socks too so that contributed & had a 30-40lb pack. Fantastic on flat, pebble, 1-2 inch ground rocks, dirt, trails, & superb traction crawling on big rock climbs & wet. Con: a little mushy sole, hiking on very super jagged rocks 3'-6" for 4-5 hours, feet got a little sore. If you like a very hard sole shoe do not buy these. I would buy again & wear again on same trip.

Today is day one! Coming from the ultraventure, and mtn racers. Tried on like 40 pairs of shoes at local stores with no luck. Was looking for a bit more cushion for road running, tried several hokas and new balance, and everything else. I really hope more stores start carrying Topos on the shelves, I don't like to order blind because I have the worst time finding the perfect fit. So far these are soooooo nice!! Love the feeling of the heel collar, it so soft! Just the cushion I was hoping for! Gonna take them on their first run shortly and see how it goes, small chance I might have to come down a half size but we'll give these a shot.

Second 5k of the week in these shoes. Bought to see if low drop would help knee pain. After running for several years in 12 mm cushion shoes with left knee pain the Phantom solved the problem. No Pain after first 5k in these. Also time is better with less effort.

The best running shoes are those that don't get in your way, the ones you can just lace up and forget about. These fit the bill. First ever pair of Topos, but they will most definitely not be my last. Great fit, nice roomy toe box, good cushioning and support without sacrificing ground feel, and they weigh next to nothing. I'm very pleased.

I am not a runner but this is the second pair of Topos I've purchased. The comfort can't be beaten for walking or standing for long periods of time. I also like the wide toe box, solid construction, and lightweight materials. I purchased the light gray with navy heel and these are now officially my "dad shoes" without looking too much like the typical, white, dad shoes.

Wanted to wait to write a review until I'd run a 50K in these shoes. Performed really well overall. The fit and feel of this brand is for real, and I have been super impressed with the toe box and secure midfoot and heel. I do have to tie my shoes a bit tighter than I do in other brands to get that secure fit, but after figuring that out it's been a great overall feel. I'm used to running zero-drop shoes so the 5mm drop was a bit of an adjustment, but I've noticed my calves have been way less sore after long runs. Biggest thing for me is the GRIP. Virginia running means lots of slick trails (humidity...) and these shoes really give me fantastic grip on any type of trail which is where some of the west coast brands have failed. Only con is that I wish the shoe was just a tad lighter, but they're certainly pretty comparable to similar shoes out there. And, let's just be honest...better color schemes and designs? I don't really love the look of any Topo Athletic shoes, but I'll take function over style any day.

Woman who answered my call to your main number was the best customer service person ever. I had questions on Trailventure shoes I just received re fit. She covered construction differences between these and my Ultraventures, lacing, best length and material socks to wear. She was professional patient positive pleasant courteous highly knowledgeable. Feel terrible I don't recall her name.

This is my first pair of Topo's and I am not disappointed. The shoes fit like gloves and give me all the room where I need it and hug my foot in the mid and heal to keep my foot from moving around. I had two main criteria for this shoe, give me to room I need, but give me to cushion for the long runs. I think I got both. Still early days, but the only issue I had that feels like it is getting better the more I use them is the where the crease is created as I go to spring off my foot. It is pushing down on the top of my foot a bit and by the end of my first run I had some significant soreness across to top of my foot. This does seem to have eased off the more I use them so hoping it will go away. That being said, I feel like 100 kms/miles will be easy in this shoe. I cant wait for this shoe to be available in Canada so I don't have to go through international shipping every time. I can't believe I went to those lengths for a shoe I've never worn. But the foot wants what the foot wants.

Topo, the shoe is amazing. Please please please do something about those spongy, water-absorbing insoles. The cushion level on them is great, but unless the shoes never experience temps above 60F, those insoles are so porous on the underside they are literal sponges and hold water and squish. Maybe a type of coating on them to keep them sealed or mostly watertight? It isn't even in long runs, just 4 miles in hot weather, and those insoles soak up so much water I can wring them out. Amazing job on the shoes themselves though! A huge fan of the eyelets on the tongue to hold it in place. I know some athletes had issues with the toe rubbing the top of the shoes but I never had that issue. Solid shoe! Just really really think the insoles need some major changes.

So I decided to try the MTN racer. There is a lot to like here, as in the firm sole, and grip. The shoe feels very nimble for the stack height. What I don't like is the high cut around the ankle, when running on trails that either slope to one side or the middle I find it cutting into my ankle. Would be better if it had the cut of the ultraventure around the ankle.

I no longer run but want shoes that are designed for trails and have room for my tailors bunion with no bumper or structure over the top in that area. The width and lack of other materials on the body of the shoe are perfect. I have the ankle high version as well.

I run trails, mud runs and race spartan races, aroo. Topo is the best fitting shoe for my feet. Love the wide toe box on all the shoes. MTN 2s are a nice shoe if you are running trails without rocks and trails that are not too messy. I was excited when I got my hand on these. I ran 50 mi in them and decided that I can feel everything I stepped on. I went back to the original MNTs and they have much more protection. I then bought every original I can find and I have 5 in my basement. When designing MNT 3s, please put a rock plate in to protect from sharp rocks. Also, I still race in my salomons. The salomons are not wide enough for my feet and hurt but the traction on the salomons is way better than topos. Topos also wear down relatively quickly. The traction is needed for racing. Firm up the bottom and make the tread a little deeper and these will be the perfect trail shoe. Topo shoes are the best shoes for those of us with wide flinstone feet. And how about a water proof MNT Racer???? I could use those as well.

These MTN Racer 2 shoes fit really well. Pretty comfortable for shorter trail runs. I wore them for a 50K last weekend and my feet felt great until about 21 miles, then started getting sore on the top of my toes. Had not experienced any issues in any runs shorter than 20 miles so was surprised. Wasn't bad enough to stop, but I'm still feeling it a few days later. Will rethink what I wear for the next 50K.

I trail run a lot and typically only wear Topo shoes. My favorites have (and still are) the Terraventure 2's. These shoes are great as well, light weight and roomy. Only thing I would change is a slightly more padded tongue, maybe even just towards the top of the shoe as getting the lacing perfect is tough. Also, the lack of a rockplate isn't bad at all, but for the weight the addition of a rockplate would make the shoes that much better.

Attractive shoe that loses the side of sole water vents of the racer 1. I liked the vents on the racer 1, which were below feet, these racer 2 vent thru mesh fabric which allows water to sit below feet. I have not tested in wet hiking environments yet, so we shall see how these dry below feet on the trail compared to Racer 1. Comfortable of course, the mega grip soles are the show here for me, I love them, they are well reviewed elsewhere. Matter of taste but I am a big fan of the thin minimalist tongue, dries fast, light and does not move around. I have never found big padded tongues to be anything but fall apart, If I reach for a complaint or 2 for the shoes it might be the "roomy toe box" feature. I find them far from roomy, sides of feet press on fabric, this toe box for me could be an inch wider overall, but hardly anything I hate so far. Lastly, the performance gaiters; Not a fan of the heel attachment. I think an extra day spent on a redesign could make wearing Topo gaiters really nice. I wear them almost 100% of my hikes and find other brands have much better function. Great shoes, with long life these will be hard to move on from ever.

Love everything about this shoe, best Topo model I've tried and I've run road and trail models. Downside is the laces. Across the board they don't hold well, slowly loosen. Need a lace with a higher coefficient of friction.

I'm really enjoying these shoes. Before this I was in the cyclone and I prefer the front upper from that shoe but it doesn't lock your heel in as well as these do. I love having the extra support from the plastic plate. Would love to see one with a carbon plate.
