The Mtn Racer 2 is an amazing trail shoe. Perfect grip, fit, and ride. I love the zip foam comfort and the looks are great. Definitely my go-to shoes for all my trail running miles!

Great Topo fit and probably the most comfortable pair of Topo's I have ever had. I'm not planning on doing major hikes in them, but I'm confident they'll work great for whatever you throw at them.

Training in these for 50k and they are so comfy I would wear them for all occasions if I could get them in all black

I'm training up for another Ultra and my last pair hit their limit. On the recommendation from a shoe guru I gave these a try. I've never had a wide toe box shoe before but now I'm never going back.

Use to wear Altras till I started developing foot pain. Since switching to Topos the foot pain has gone away. Extremely comfortable and sturdy. Can wait to take them out on the trials.

I strap these suckers on when I head out on trails that have some potential for wet rocks and mud slicks, especially with some elevation to them.

Walking and using them to heal my feet.
Arch and heel feel strange but use to and my feet feel great compared to other shoes.
Like anything else you just need to get used to it.

Have had a couple trail runs with these after relying on the Ultraventure for the last few years. I tried the first version of the Mountain Racer and unfortunately that shoe did not really work for me, especially if I was putting in a lot of miles in one day. With this version, they've got the sizing right and they do feel a bit quicker than the Ultraventure. I'm hoping to use them in an Ultra before too long which will be the real test.

Mtn Racer 2 is great so far, a little more secure and snug in the midfoot than an Altra (or even my other Topo, the Terraventure 3). The lack of a rock plate is a very minor - for me, but so far, nothing has pierced through or really bothered my foot on gnarly Front Range trails or fire roads. This might be the one true Marathon trail shoe for me. Will it go 50-100 miles for me? Depends on how well it drains....

I am not wild about the mango color. The fit is good. The mesh is different from the the first version. I prefer the older mesh.

These Mtn Racer 2s are fantastic so far. Just did my break-in run and LOVE these. Much more precise foot shape and snug effect compared to the Terraventure 3s, which are also great, but are more like hiking shoes now (for me). I'm hoping these are part of the shoe quiver for Leadville 100 in 2022. Great outsole, great support, just enough bounce and cush. Don't miss the rock plate (yet).

I was looking for a pair of zero drop trail running shoes and came across Topo Athletic. This is my first pair and I am very happy about them. Great stability around the mid foot and back. Very comfortable overall! Hope Topo might consider adding a Gore Tex Shoe in their portfolio in the future!

Great update. I was a little worried with midsole changes from original model but they feel great. They also addressed some of the breathability issues in the upper from the past version. I ran the Pinhoti 100 in these last weekend and fully expected to change shoes at the half way point (and was excited to get in some miles on my new Ultraventures!) The Mtn Racers felt great at mile 50 and kept pressing on all the way to the finish. Great light Trail shoe that can accommodate speed work but with enough cushion to go the distance!

I love this shoe. I currently run >60 miles per week in the Mtn Racer 2's, and I have no complaints. Unlike the other brand, known for its roomy toebox, this shoe is incredibly stable on steep, gnarly descents. I no longer feel like I'm a step away from a sprained ankle. As well, I'm enjoying the 4mm heel-to-toe drop more than I had expected. Lastly, the outsole is phenomenal. Be it granite, sandstone, dust or gravel, this outsole offers a sure-footedness I've not found in any other shoe.

Best trail hikers I've ever worn. In fact, I love them for just a regular shoe. They have a much roomier toe box than any show I have ever worn, the shoe is on the wide side for me it is heaven. The arch is a little higher than normal. But so far I love them. Wish they had better color options. They also seem a bit pricey, but everything is over priced these days it seems.

Used the for 3 or 4 trail runs so far, fit well with plenty of room in the toe box like I need, seem well constructed but time will tell there. Wish the lugs were a bit deeper for the ocr racing I do

Have put about 100 miles on these so far in technical southeast trails. These are the best all around trail runner I've tried. Fit is true to size, fits my wide square feet without rubbing, has excellent traction and flexibility. Version 1 was pretty stiff and rubbed, but haven't had those issues in v2.
These things are way better than altras line peaks for me in terms of fit, sizing, comfort, and especially heel fit. Altra has been moving to a heel and midfoot fit that's a bit floaty, which causes midfoot movement during a run. These tops and a snug fit and I feel much more confident when going fast.
I've done up to 20 miles and haven't had any hotspots. I'd expect at least 300 miles out of the out/mid sole

I discovered shoes with a foot shaped toe box many years ago now and they have become the only shoes that I can wear comfortably so whether I am going for a run, going for a hike, or just kicking it around town I am in my foot shaped shoes. The other brand of shoes that I wear with a foot shaped toe box are my go to shoes and the Topos have become my backup. I'm not sure if it is because of the familiarity with the other brand or because of the zero drop platform but the other brand is a little more comfortable. I have noticed that when I wear the Topos a lot that my legs hurt a little more. Could it be that I have become that accustomed to the zero drop? I doubt that is the case since the Topos only have a 5mm rise. Overall, the Topos are very comfortable shoes and I would recommend to anyone. I bought a different style Topo for my daughter to wear to work as a nurse and she loves them. She says they are the most comfortable shoes she has worn. On the other hand, she hasn't tried the other brand I referred to but in comparison to other brands such as Hoka, Nike, Brooks, and Adidas I think my daughter would agree that Topos tops them.

Much improved from the 1st version. Stable, form fitting through the mid-foot, wide toe box, heel cup locks foot in, less bulky in the ankle collar and keeps debris out, light weight, stable underfoot, grippy Vibram soles, slightly thinner laces than Topo originals, & much better color schemes than Topo's typical blah color options.
These are meant to provide good ground feedback (no rockplate). So don't expect them to feel like Hokas, which dramatically reduce feedback.

The new midsole is softer and springier than v1, but still form enough to not need a rock plate. Megagrip is amazing as always and the new upper is probably my favorite topo upper yet. Good foot hold, topo toe box, dries quickly and held up to 30 miles of mids and rocks in the white mountains. Only thing I could say negative at this point is the laces are freakishly long, but that's an easy fix.
