My seventeen-year-old son (who also owns Prios and Colorados) put on his new Daylite Hiker Fusions and literally started leaping around the room. His comment: "These make you want to wear your feet more!" Another winner in our household of Xero Shoes fans!

This new upgrade of the DayLite Hiker has got some serious style, and as with all Xero Shoes - fully functional. As the name implies, they are great for hiking, and since all their shoes give your feet full function, they're great for gym workouts (movement sessions), too.
Couldn't get the photos to upload here, but you can check out my review photos & videos @nate.amado on IG/FB. Thank you Xero Team for sending me these to review.

First of all as a retired Infantryman of over 21 years in the Army, I have always prioritized footwear as an area that I would never compromise in. As an Infantryman, your feet are your life in the military. Now that I am retired my feet no longer take quite the beating they used to but I am left with the repercussions of my chosen career, bad knees, plantar fasciitis, hip pain, etc. I wouldn't change a damn thing regarding that because I truly loved what I did. While researching ways to reduce these aches and pains, I came across Xeroshoes and started looking into the whole barefoot movement. I usually average between 12,00-15000 steps a day. So, I figured, I usually spend more than $100 on shoes anyway so why not give them a try. It also didn't hurt that I like to support local businesses and it just so happens that this company is about 2 hours from me. I ordered my Daylite Hiker Fusions last week to wear at work (4-10 hour work days) and got them in the mail yesterday. I pulled them out of the box and inspected them to see if I would like them. Upon first look, I thought, damn these are nice and appear to be well made. Then I put them on and started walking around the house in them, I realized that I had made the right decision. My grandson just so happened to be visiting and wanted to go for a walk (about a half mile, he is only a toddler). So, we went for a walk. I noticed that these shoes felt different than others I have purchased in the past. I have tried minimalist shoes previously and enjoyed wearing them once my feet and legs got used to the difference in posture and flexibility of the feet that you don't get in a conventional running shoe. So far, I feel like this was a sound decision and will update as time goes on and the shoes wear in. Right now, I am both excited and eager to become a loyal and dedicated customer based on the use of my new shoes. I am thinking the Aqua X Sport will be my next purchase to try for casual use.
Respectfully,
Tom H.

Size and width are accurate. I just have weird feet and they pinch my toes. Unfortunately have to return.

The toe vox fit is definitely what is needed while having the proper fit in the heel. Arch support could be a little better, but I solved that with my custom insert. The original pair I ordered did have an eyelet break on me, and Zappos customer service is sending me a replacement pair, resolving the material/manufacturing defect. These shoes are best on ground/trail and not hard surfaces such as concrete or asphalt for walking/hiking.

I have had them on a couple of times and the jury is still out. Good toe room, but maybe too much. No arch support which is good given my other foot wear. The soles are stiffer than my other shoes and this also is giving me pause to praise these. So breakin in progress, we will see.

In the photos this boot looked like it was significantly taller, like a mid-top height, and would provide some ankle support. When my son tried them on they barely came past his ankle bones so we're returning for the higher boot style from Xero.

Sole is a little more firm compared to other shoes they have. They can handle a splash of water, but not too much. But if they get soaked, they dont smell when they dry.

The reason they loose a star is because they hold water in a way that makes them very difficult to dry after cleaning, or an unexpected fording of water features, or falling in the lake late at night.

Lower part of the show fits great, but when you tighten the laces it doesn't really lock your heal in and you get some slosh. If they could fix that, it would be a great shoe !

I really love the boots, except for the top string-loop that tore within the first 2 weeks. I had to give it a grommet to balance the boots tightness.

I want to address the 4 stars right out of the gate. I knocked a star off due to the claim that the shoe is "not waterproof because the tongue is independent of the rest of the upper, though the ballistic mesh material in the upper definitely makes this boot a little more rain-friendly than most other footwear", and that's just outright not true. There's nothing remotely water resistant about the shoes; walking on the dew-moistened grass is enough to get your socks and feet wet. This is strictly a dry weather, dry trail shoe. Period. And there's nothing actually wrong with that, most of my shoes aren't. What bugs me is the claim that they are, which sets up expectations that can't be met.
Setting that aside, these shoes are great! I bought a half size larger to accommodate my smartwool socks, and it was the right call. The fit of the shoe nails the magical balance that Xero shoes are known for, supportive, grippy, yet allowing the toes to move freely. The sole hits a home run in providing protection while letting your feet know what's going on. As a guy with bad ankles, this is critical information for my body positioning.
Overall it's one of my favorite shoes, a great all arounder - in dry conditions.

As other reviews stated the toebox was too wide . No way I could hike a trail in these with my foot moving that much . I did like the look of the shoe though and the color I chose also .

The fit is a bit boxy -- which is great in the toe box but not as great around the heel. Volume of shoe is over-large as well so I'm going to have to add a thicker insole. I'm a big fan of zero-drop shoes but I wish I could find a hiker that fit as well as my Minumus runners.
Also problematic is that my feet are two different sizes and I have to size-up to accommodate the bigger one. And there are no half sizes offered between 13 and 14.

Well made and generally comfortable, I like the fusion design a lot. My only gripe is the missing tread under the arch area (and this could just be me). Im in the transition-to-barefoot-shoes process after suffering from plantar fasciitis and probation. The area under my arch not having tread makes my feet tend to pronate on hard surfaces. If Im in grass or dirt I guess the other tread is sinking in, but wearing these anywhere else isnt working out very well. I dont hate them, but would be happier if the tread covered the entire sole of the shoe.

These shoes are 4.1 inches wide at the widest point of the external sole. They are narrower than other Xero shoes like Prio, Hann, Aptos and Excursion which are 4.3 inches wide.
Being used to a wider Xero shoe, my feet immediately felt discomfort and even pain when wearing the Daylite Hiker Fusion.
Xero support were not aware of this significant difference in width.
Xero should have alerted buyers of this issue.
I cannot wear them and I will return the shoes.
Other than the width issue, the shoes seem great

These hiking boots were comfortable and lightweight but wore out way too fast. I had expected them to be more durable. I hike about every week day, about 5-10 miles a day on all kinds of terrain. Ive only had them for under 4 months and I am already in need of a new pair of hiking shoes. The sole has worn down totally flat in some spots providing no traction and making it dangerous to hike on wet rocks or roots. The fabric on the inside of the shoes has torn and the insoles are badly holding together.
